I think someone else mentioned it but maybe you are more of a grazer when it comes to your eating habits, or maybe you just need food to get excited about. if you just don't like eating a lot at your meal times, then don't but be sure to eat more often, like 5-6 times a day. When you do eat, try to make it healthy and try to find stuff you like that you actually WANT to eat. In addition, try adding protein shakes to your routine. This can help ensure both the calories and calories your body needs without taking up too much time to prepare.

If you really are not able to eat for days on end, you need to go see a doctor as there may be something medical going on or you may be developing an eating disorder.

Otherwise, it isn't a matter of motivation. Eating has to be one whether we feel like it or not.

So eat. emoticon

And what happens the other days?

You don't explain why you are not eating. If you believe you don't DESERVE to eat, you've got another problem. Honestly, this may need more help than a nutritionist can provide or simply having a meal plan, although I'm convinced that regular meals are key to healing most disordered eating. These problems barely exist in cultures that respect regular meal times and eat for pleasure without stuffing yourself.

But plans won't do much if you don't believe your body is worth respecting as is. Sorry to be blunt, but this is an atypical problem here!

have you tried turning on the Spark meal plan feature? it might give you that extra support that you need to make healthier choices. once you turn on the "Meal Plan" feature, the food suggestions (and recipes) just appear automatically in your Nutrition tracker, and I think there's a way to see a grocery shopping list so you can go buy the foods you need to follow the meal plan.

Good luck!

you already recognize the problem, I would suggest pre-planning your meals and eating them on a schedule until your appetite returns

You actually sound like a grazer. Maybe you need to fix five or six mini meals a day. Pre package things you can so they will be ready. I know from experience that you must be weak. Plus you are sabotaging your body's metabolism when you are in starvation mode. Working toward a healthy.lifestyle includes getting enough calories to support your activity. Good luck.

Your heart and guts aren't really into doing it, it's not that you don't "know" what to eat. Can you see a dietitian to help you, maybe make you feel like a professional is giving you good advice, so you will take the advice? Otherwise, wait for a better time to deprive yourself.

Plan for tomorrow, but enjoy the heck out of today.

I always eat dinner. I'll be honest and say that when I'm not working (school vacations) & weekends lunch might not happen. I'll munch during the day or not eat anything. I've gotten better & will usually have a bowl of cereal with my coffee in the mornings.

I need that daily routine. Try it.

The thing I've learned about a healthy food program is that you have to have some sort of plan. It can be as small as adding 1 fruit/veggie to your daily food intake but it has to be something. You can't wake up and think "today I am going to eat healthy" because that is recipe for failure.
Have you set your "fast break" goals? If not, I encourage you to do so. Track all of your food. Increase your water intake. These small goals build on each other.
One last thing, I have found that when I am not making good food choices, I am usually eating far more than I think I am.
You may want to go to a nutritionist and get a food plan to meet your specific needs.

Good luck!

Ann

Well, it's a brilliant start that you've realised there's a problem and that you want to do something about it. If you're finding it hard to motivate yourself to eat nutritious food regularly, how about starting in a small and easy way by buying bananas to use as a 'go to' snack? And, I don't know where you live - in UK I'd get this for free - but if you're able to afford a few sessions with a dietician that could be really helpful.

You should be eating enough and eat healthy foods 80% of the time.

The other 20% is to give you some space to eat your fave foods that are not so healthy. But pls, always, always watch your portion sizes!

I'd go crazy on so little food! Don't you even get hungry?

Talk to your doctor. Maybe he can suggest a healthy diet for you to follow. Good luck and God bless you!!!

How do you function? My brain would die on that little nutrition and I would be a witchy, nasty, weak kneed, nauseous woman!

You know you are not doing yourself any favors by not eating properly.

So think about it. Why are you sabotaging yourself? Is this punishment for gaming weight in the first place? Is it an unconscious need to make up for poor choices in the past?

If you are serious about wanting to be healthy you need to start eating, to make good food choices and to exercise.

You can do this!

I am having trouble motivating myself to eat. It is 7 PM and today I have had coffee, a glass of juice, a donut and... a few handfuls of chips. So not only am I not eating, but when I am, it is worthless food. I am adding excercise to my days whenever possible, but without nutrition, I know I cannot succeed in getting healthier.
