The hardest part for me well prob be transitioning through my husband's homecoming from Afghanistan and sticking to my healthy eating and workout plan. Its easy to stick to when he's gone, but as soon as he gets home all we want to do is spend family time, sleep in on the weekends, go on date nights, plus we have a big vacation/11-year anniversary planned. I've let it derail me before, but I'm feeling positive about sticking to it this time. Fall/winter is our nice weather time of year, so I'll have plenty of opportunities to get out and stay active, and I've contemplated training for a half marathon once it cools down below 100 degrees every day (hopefully in the next couple weeks!)

Every homecoming feels a bit like a new beginning, and its mine to make of it what I will. I have high hopes for this Fall!

Autumn is my favorite time of year, the cooler weather, fall colors, and of course the food! I don't think it's a foolish time to start or continue our journeys at this time of year. I truly hope to get under 200 by the end of the year but am realistic about the food festivals we will be having. I am scouring the internet and cookbooks for low sugar/low fat/higher fiber goodies and reducing the amount to make. I know if I simply say "no" in front of others - I will say "YES!" at night when nobody is looking.
We can do it! Even if it is just not to gain weight during the holidays, to me, that is a positive step to victory!

I'd certainly like to lose some weight before the end of the year. I seem to have plateaued weight wise for a couple of months now - still doing most of the right things and losing inches, but it doesn't show on the scales. As I've lost about 14lb a year for the last 3 years, I'd like to lose at least that much in 2013 but so far the scales are showing a loss of about 4-5 lb even though I've gone down a size.

Don't semi starve yourself before the holidays though, there will be a big backlash after Jan. 1, don't ask me how I know! Happens time and time again. Limiting yourself too harshly will have you trying to make up for lost time, especially near Valentine's Day or before Super Bowl. Even phone calls from Richard Simmons didn't matter. Careful. Exercise does help to keep things at bay...............

Plan for tomorrow, but enjoy the heck out of today.

Fall is a great time to up your exercise-the weather is cooler and perfect for walks, biking, etc. so many things to be doing--impossible to sit around. Make it great!


I did my best today, tomorrow I will do even better.

You guys, we can do this! We can maintain and or lose this fall. I'm moving into maintenance so this will be a new experience for me.

So let's get our house in order and plan our "Fall Attack"! How are we going to do this?

We are going to:

Remember that we can enjoy the special treat foods, just pick our favorites. and plan the amounts. Don't eat it if you don't love it.

Don't let anyone guilt you into eating something because they "made it special, just for you!"
Practice saying "thanks, I'll get some in a bit"

If family serve food that you don't care for and doesn't fit into your diet DO NOT EAT IT! We will not starve to death.

We will NOT make a big deal out of the fact that a lot of our families do NOT eat healthy and that we do not eat that way any more. (we can get away with this by being low key and flying under the radar--see Thanks, Ill get some in a bit)

We will not bring leftovers home from parties. We do not want our fridges full of junk food.

We will not take junk food to parties. If we bring a dish it will be yummy and healthy.

We will remember that there is ALWAYS MORE pie, cookies, cakes and candies. We do not have to eat it all or eat it now. We can always get it when we want it.

We will schedule our workouts and keep to our schedules.

We will face and deal with our emotional issues without resorting to binging or pigging out! We can be emotionally healthy at this time of the year.

We will realistically decide what we can do in terms of time and money and we will stick to our plans. We will not let others stress us out or guilt us into anything.

Okay, those our mine, what else can we do or plan?

to really build some serious muscles as I am so into weight lifting. I can see my biceps and my shoulders are looking so much better. I am going to take a group core class to work on my abs......I want to have a body to be proud of. God gave it to me so why not.

I pretty much "just maintained" over the summer, but find myself wanting to start losing again now that fall is in the air. I'd really love to lose 5 more pounds by New Year's -- which would give me a total of 15 pounds lost this year. Now that I am getting close to my goal, that's a reasonable pace for me.

I would LOVE to end this year smaller than I was last year but the reality is I am the same wt. I am more healthy because I can walk longer and do intense that I could not do at all last year. So I am happy I have had improvement this year. I do not let the holidays scare me because I am GREAT as I am. (but I will be paying more attention this year as to what I eat) emoticon

I am right there with you. I would like to get to the holiday season and the new year lower than wear I was last year

Made it to my maintenance weight of 125 pounds.

Even though I have reached goal. I still don't know everything about weight loss.

I just want to keep up my fitness, maintain my weight and have my christmas shopping done by Thanksgiving. I love to bake, love Halloween and love football season, so this time of year is heaven for me, but not always great for my waistline.

I would like to make it through the fall season without gaining significant weight for once. This is the time of year when I get into trouble food-wise. If I lose a pound through the crazy season, I will be a happy camper, but just to maintain and keep up my workout schedule would be awesome. I am determined to still enjoy the junky stuff, but I will do it in a more sane manner.

Okay ... the way I figure, I have 3 months to really get my act together and end this year with a win. I desperately want to finish 2013 lower than last year... and it would be nice to be at least 1 size smaller and maybe a few inches tighter.
