I am generally an easy-going person, but rude, impatient people do frustrate me. The thing I find most frustrating is when someone behind me (usually a guy-sorry guys I know not all of you are guilty) lays on their horn when I have cars coming in front of me and CANNOT go.

I really appreciated your honesty. Every time I quit watching my calories and exercising, I GAIN weight too, and I am overweight to begin with it, so that makes it worse. I recently started to watch what I was eating AGAIN (this week) after I ended up with severe acid reflux. Suddenly overeating & eating the wrong foods & drinking gallons of tea a day wasn't that appealing. One thing I have noticed this week is that if I get on SP and read a motivational SOMETHING every day and if I measure my foods, I am encouraged. Hang in there ... peole say that eventually eating less & exercising becomes second nature ... I would like to stick with it long enough to see that happen for me, and for you! :)

This is not too hard for me. I can do this.

This is what I feel exactly today! I had a binge last night. I worked out really hard in the a.m. and then at night, husband went to bed @ 8:30 AGAIN, I felt lonely and binged. I haven't done this in about 2 months, but I was so hungry last night, I ate the wrong stuff. This morning the scale showed I had gained back all 4.5 lbs. that it took me 2 months to lose...

I need some words of encouragement....

I used to let the frustration take over but now when I'm frustrated with my weight, I either get on the stationary bike with a good book or I get my needlework out. It keeps my hands busy and my mind as well. It has really helped me.

I do a lot of journaling. I write it out like a mad woman. lol. Every dedail until i get it out of my system. I always make sure to give myself a word of encouragement in closing. for Examble: Brenda i am proud of what you have accomplished today. Keep up the good work.

Hi,I am new at this. I love , love , love this program. I started my diet October 2, 2013 my beginning weight was origionally 293lbs. I am currently down to 280lbs. It is a lot of work and I have to keep talking to myself so that I can stay on track. Each time I feel a food weakness coming on that would sabortage my progress I tell myself that must have RELENTLESS DETERMINATION. So far so good. I have a long way to go. So anything that you can share will be greatly appreciated

I'm sure we're all frustrated several times a week! I keep perspective - the scales don't reflect how much activity I've done, if I've misjudged my nutrition or stumble I feel determined to make it better the next opportunity I have. I try to remember that this process has a very steep learning curve and that it is just that - a process, not a destination. Learn from my mistakes and celebrate my victories!

I went to mental therapy for awhile. I found out that I was using food to punish myself. Actually, I thought I was punishing others but I didn't see that I was only punishing me. I also found out that I had a hate inside of me that was getting bigger and growing everyday. So I had to learn to let go of the past, forgive myself of my mistakes, forgive others for hurting me, and learn to love myself again because the hate I had was for me. I had to realize I was worth it. I've went up and down so many times and tried so many plans and NOW that I think I'm finally ready for a new lifestyle, I've got a million health problems BUT, I'm not letting anything stop me this time because I am worth the effort and yes I get so frustrated sometimes because my limited mobility makes it hard to exercise and the pain can be unbearable and then I hear someone in my family tell me how huge I am (need to lose 100 lbs. BMI=48) and how I need to do something about it one more time.....thats when I meditate and remove myself from them. This is my support group, my family is now SP. I love you all.

I just wanted to say that I came to this message board for motivation, because I am frustrated with myself, and you have made me feel better. I have about 100 pounds to lose, and I have gained and lost so much weight I feel like throwing the scale, food, and fat clothes out the f-ing window! Maybe not the food...
Anyway, I am on track again, but I would like to think a little wiser this time. One thing I have learned is to track my food. Everytime I stop I gain weight. And I think you are right about the scale. It changes so much that I think maybe I should only check once a month and just focus on breaking the addiction to food.
I am addicted to food the same way I was addicted to cigarettes, and this time I am thinking of it like an addiction, and I am quitting. I am quitting eating crap and overeating. I am quitting a sedentary lifestyle. Now I think I am there. With this train of thought I quit smoking. I have to take back the control in my life, and I really think this is going to work for me. Anyway, you have really made me feel better.
Its good to know that I am not alone. I am not the only one who has lost weight and lost control. Also that there are plenty of people not giving up!

Congratulations on your progress! Wow, it is an inspiration for me.

I have been down this road many times. I have lost 120 pounds only to gain it back, more than once. Now I need to lose 200 pounds. But now I am wiser and am working on what I can sustain for a lifetime, and letting my body adjust as I go along. I focus on what I can control (exercise, calories, nutrient dense foods not calorie dense, drinking water, getting rest) not on what I cannot: the scale.

I can't tell you how to break a plateau, but I can tell you that I have had many experiences of the scale not moving for a few weeks and then BAM!- 7 pounds in a week. This tells me that the weight loss was there, but was not showing up on the scale. I believe that your body is resetting itself. Keep up the good work and be extra vigilant that you are sticking to your plan. Take advice from others about plateau busting. Accept yourself, and be gentle. How would you treat a good friend in this situation? Do likewise to yourself.

The scale will move again, just keep on sticking to what you can control.

I have hit a plateau and to be honest it has been sad for me. I know I will get out of this but it just takes me down. I am trying to concentrate on the 95 pounds lost and how happy I am being that I am accomplishing my weight loss journey. This is what keeps me hanging on. I know for alot of peple my goal weight is alot 90 kilos but I use to be 135 and having a goal that I know that with alot of work I can make happen, I will go for it. Once I reach it then I can create my new goal to 75 kilos. I am taking huge baby steps and one at a time. emoticon

Yes, "200" is a weird kind of barrier for me, too. My highest was 250 and I've been dying to see it dip below the 200 line. My body seems comfortable here for some reason, but I know I need to push if I want to work towards a healthy BMI. Just been trying to up my activity level, try some new activities out, like dancing (there are so many different kinds out there). Also, I am being stricter about my portions, instead of just "guesstimating" them.

How are things going for you now since you posted this thread in September? Keep up the great work. We can get there!

I expect less than I get and that decreases frustration. When attempting to lose a pound a week, I will expect 1/2 pounds per week and if I lose a pound, I am excited but if I only lose 1/2 pounds or none at all, then I am ok. I am not frustrated. I like taking small steps.

All things are possible if you only believe, even losing 15 pounds

Keep going and keep up the good work! Do exercise that makes you feel great and love what you were doing. The weight will come off eventually- the scale is not what you should focus on, but your overall health. If you see and feel changes, you're already on the right track.

YES! Positive self talk is very necessary, because being patient with yourself is key. Every body is different, and everyone's weight-loss journey is unique. Stressing out over a number on the scale will only make a person miserable. I know that if I keep eating healthy and being active I will feel good, and the weight will come off. Persistence!

The times when I get the most frustrated has been when I've hit a plateau and that darn scale won't move! LOL I have finally just accepted that plateaus are simply part of losing weight. I do a lot of self talk, "This will pass as it always does."

I MUST KEEP ON TRACK!

I don't think we can "keep from feeling" frustration, but like others I think about how far I've come and the trips I've enjoyed because I worked hard to be healthier. This reminds me of my potential. Take that frustration and make it work for you! emoticon

I quit getting frustrated a long, long time ago....
What did it for me, was putting on a shirt, pants, dress, etc that use to be tight on me and shows that I have made progress. I don't look at those clothing items as, " just in case I gain some weight back ". I use them as a reminder of where I was when I started. It makes me feel good to see that what once was tight is now looser or just plain too big.

Do you have a photo of you when you were at your heaviest? If you do, you could try sticking this up somewhere prominent (where you see it frequently) alongside a picture of you at your current weight. Remind yourself daily in this way of how far you have come: this may help to keep you motivated and plugging on when you hit a slow or sticky patch. Another thing I do is have a big plastic sack filled with stuff (sand, bricks, anything along those lines) that weighs the amount I have lost so far -- that's over 60lbs in my case, so it has to be a heavy-duty plastic sack. I keep this in the garage, and when I feel frustrated I go out and pick it up (with some difficulty!), and remind myself that this is the amount of weight I was lugging around with me on a daily basis. That works!

I found that if I plug into my ipod with some old time rock and roll, and take a walk(even a short one), it seems to give me that small break from reality that I need, then I am able to go back and regroup and look at whats frustrating me and problem solve with a clearer mind. emoticon

Lately, I've been doing a lot of of walking. I have young kids who like to be outside, so all I have to say is "Do you want to go to the park?" and they are in.

When I'm upset in any way, I have tended to sit around and dwell on the same thoughts. I'm trying to get out of that rut.

I'm frustrated too. I have neither lost nor gained one pound in a year. My blood lipids are great for the first time in my life though! I talked to a dietician today for an hour. $50. Worth every penny. We went over what I eat, and she found my food mistakes - too many carbs and not enough proteins. She gave me lots of ideas, so here I go for the final stretch!

I have heard that doing the same exercises will keep you in a plateau. Change up your exercise routine in some way.

Remind myself why I am doing this. Sure, I want to look different, but my main motivation is to be physically fit so that it is easier for me to work. Carrying the extra weight around is making my job harder. I am MORE motivated by this than how I look, because once I step off the scale or walk away from a mirror, I forget my appearance. But feeling what it feels like inside my own body makes me want to change more.
Because of this thinking, if my scale isn't moving as fast as I want it to, I remind myself of my goal of feeling better.

I am frustrated daily. I am "chronically" hungry. I am tired of the slow loss. I count down each week to measuring day. That is all that cheers me up! I don't lose much scale wise but I have been averaging a loss of 2 inches or more a week. I feel the muscles getting bigger and I have to remind myself that I am gaining muscle, which weighs more than fat!

I don't. I get frustrated all the time!:) I only recently broke a two-month plateau and I was annoyed the whole time. I broke it because I shook up my diet and exercise routine...and got sick. Not the greatest way to break it. I have decided not to do weekly-weigh ins anymore; there is too much fluctuation, esp. if it's near TOM or I ate too much salt. So, I measure and weigh once a month, and I think it helps me dread it less. I try to remind myself that's it's harder to lose when you're already at a healthy BMI, which I am, and when you are relatively near your goal. Also, I try to focus on getting stronger, running faster, lifting heavier weights, etc.--making gains in things that really measure my fitness level.

When I get frustrated it is usually because I think I am doing everything right and the number on the scale does not go down (at least not as fast as I want it to). I do two things. I put some cloths on and remind myself that they are lose and getting baggier even if the number is not changing! The other thing I do is remind myself how stubborn I am and tell myself that I will win the fight of the scale....with work! This may sound silly but I am so damn stubborn that I know if I keep working I will WIN by reaching my goals!!

This may not be a popular view, but I add Alli (fat blocker) and a carb blocker to my diet for a while. Maybe they don't really make THAT much of a difference physically, but because I believe they'll work, maybe they do!
