Thanks for the replies, everyone!
My first class went really well. I told the instructor before the class began that I was new - and I even told some of my fellow classmates who had already arrived. Everyone was very supportive and told me not to worry. As far as the class itself, it is definitely different from what I was used to in Yoga - I would say Pilates is more of a workout. As I had anticipated, it was a bit of a challenge - there were some moments when I had to modify something or skip a set of reps because it was a little too much for me. But that's exactly what I did - modified or skipped - and I didn't beat myself up over it.
We did a lot of exercises on the mat, like paused crunches, leg lifts, stretches, etc. At the end of the class, we grabbed 3 lb. weights and did some arm strength training. The instructor mentioned resistance bands and balance balls will probably be incorporated into future classes, too.
I have to say it was a bit of a challenge for me - especially trying to keep my feet and legs together in the "Pilates stance" during some exercises - and I my core muscles were sore the next day, but in a good way. Overall, I really enjoyed the class and I'm looking forward to my next one this Thursday.
I would definitely recommend Pilates to anyone who is interested!
