I cannot stand it when my hair gets longer than shoulder length- I go to the gym every day and have to shampoo (and blow dry and flatiron) every day- who has time for that?
When it gets long I usually just put it back with a headband or up in a ponytail anyway!

Grow it out for as long as you can stand it, it may or may not look as good as people on tv or something though, but do it, to get the urge out of your system.........at some point, the work involved will finally let you realize whether it's worth it or not. Get plenty of plumber's helper to put in the drains, don't ask me how I know.

Plan for tomorrow, but enjoy the heck out of today.

My hair is six inches from my waist. It used to be chin length. It took about two years to get this long. I trim it regularly and use really good shampoo. When it gets any longer it starts looking frizzy.

When I was in the third grade I did have waist length hair. I don't think that is going to happen anymore. With age and color treating it, it breaks off at the length it is now.

One could use extensions but be careful because the permanent ones and even the clip in can cause traction alopecia. That is bald spots caused by your hair constantly being pulled from the root. And that generally doesn't grow back.

Made it to my maintenance weight of 125 pounds.

Even though I have reached goal. I still don't know everything about weight loss.

When I was in my twenties, and younger my hair was down to my waist. But I think as you get older, you look much more classy or sexy with it shorter. Yes model, and Hollywood people have extensions. But at a certain age, all people get thinner, and your hair doesn't hardly grow like it used too. The best you could hope fore would be that it is healthy. Eating protein keeps it from thinning out , put it also clogs your follicle at the skin. Try taking some biotin, and maybe hair vitamins. I here that Wen hair products really don't damage your hair like others do. A lot of chemicals, dyes, and blowing of your hair all adds to it aging, even stress, medications, and how you eat or don't eat properly. Good luck. Try reading up on it, and that will help you learn more about what to do for healthy hair.

Even then, I think you are really being a bit unrealistic. It's only just 3 months - a lot don't have much more than that in a year.

I hope you don't take offense at what I am going to say, but have you thought about trying to focus your thoughts on things other than wanting to be or have something that you don't have or are unable to have? Instead focus on things that you CAN control or have input into, and make sure that they are things that you enjoy! I think you would be a whole lot happier.

Hi, Dragonchilde, I got my trim in early June, not July.

Just to clarify. It's been more than 2 months.

My sister will occasionally grow her hair out to waist length, and it is SUCH a hassle to maintain and care for! You're not missing out on much. :p

It takes years to grow waist-length hair. Mine takes about two years to go from shoulder-length to waist-length, and mine grows really fast.

Seriously, you got a trim in July, and you're complaining because it hasn't grown?

For most people, you're looking at about an inch of growth TOPS (that's assuming you don't have health issues.)

Even if it was growing at a normal rate, that's not enough to expect a dramatic difference.

Why are you so worried about looking like everyone else around you?

Eat foods that are high in Pantothenic acid and trim your hair every month on the exact full moon....I been doing that for years and my hair grows like a weed!

If there's a will there's a way. A lot of the beautiful thick long hair you see in magazines and on TV are extensions.

My hair didn't grow for years and years with no real reason that anyone could find. I was happy and wore hats but somewhat longed for the length of hair I always had as a child.

Then out of the blue, a few years ago, I had two arm surgeries and for some crazy reason, the hair started growing like crazy and hasn't stopped.

I personally know that it is conventional these days for "older" women, of which group I am a proud member nowadays, to have shorter hair, but I intend to keep it long (not waist length, just beyond the shoulders to about upper mid back) as long as possible because it is a gift from the universe that makes me feel cheerful and I like the way it looks. I do cut the ends very frequently.

So, guess my point is, never give up that the hair might grow for you and just baby it along when it does, if that is what you desire.

Life is too short to not have our bodies the way we want, but your hair is beautiful at the length it is now.

Moving in new directions.

Your hair looks lovely in your photo. And if it grew to waist length you'd be heavier!! I shouldn't worry about it. After all, last week you were convinced you were going bald!

As an adult, my hair wont grow much beyond my shoulders. It is super curly and breaks itself off now matter how well I care for it. Lots of people with health problems have issues with their hair. Honestly I feel lucky to have decent hair at all after having my head cut open several times and being injected with all manner of radioactive substances.

Your life would not magically be better if your hair reached a certain length.

I admire people for their intelligence, their kindness, their strength, their accomplishments--not for their hair.

My hair would probably grow that long. The only problem is, by the time it got that long the ends would look like rat tails, probably, even with regular trimming.

The length a person's hair can grow to is determined by genetic processes. Here is an article which describes the three phases of hair growth:

www.todayifoundout.com/index.php/2012/05/w
hy-does-hair-only-grow-to-a-certain-le
ngth/

Also, hair health can change along with the other changes that come with age. Right around when I turned 35-ish I realized that my long hair was getting super-splitty at the ends. Very unattractive! I've now moved to a maximum of shoulder-length and get it cut to chin length.

My Sparkpage is set to private, but I'm open to SparkMail!

There you go again, wishing for a look that's not going to happen for you. My hair is like yours, it doesn't want to grow much past my shoulders. That's just the way it is. Maybe you could try a wig, they have some good ones out there these days.

Sometimes we just have to learn that we can't always have what we want :-( If your hair doesn't want to grow, then really, there isn't anything much you can do except make the most of the length you have and make sure it is cut in a complimentary style.

my hair just doesn't seem to be growing at all! I know a few girls with waist length hair and I admire their hair so much but I wonder will my hair ever reach that length!

My hair growth seems stunted, and I have been waiting for so long! My last trim was early June but till today, my hair hasn't even grown an inch!

My hairdresser told me that not everyone can have waist length hair (what he terms as super long). I wonder, should I give up my dream. I did have waist length hair when I was 12, I'm now in my early 40s. Maybe I should give up?
