I love the sprays, in the "old" days, we had to dribble some on a paper towel, and then rub that onto the pan, used to wish for a spray. Other spray bottles put too much on, but then, if you figure you have to do that the rest of your life, don't worry too much about it, it's the other calories that count more, in the end..........

I love the olive oil mister bottle, it's fantastic. So much healthier than the stuff in the cooking spray cans, and costs less to use too. Pays for itself in no time!

In the short term, I think that you can count half.

In the long term, it sounds like you need to get used to using less oil when you cook.

I'd either put less in the pan in the first place or, if I'm cooking the same the next day (I often do if I've got a whole lot of stir fry veg prepared) I'll count all the olive oil that day, leave the remainder in the pan and not count it the next day!

Next time that happens, put a bowl on your digital scale, zero it then let the oil drip in there. That way you'll know exactly how much was left behind.

You don't have to eat the whole thing.

Well, I don't usually put that much oil in the pan... i spray it with my oil mister (i have tested and know how many squirts = 1tsp) and then I count it all. Now granted, there's certain cooking techniques that will require more than 1tsp in the pan.... but... no matter whether I think there seems to be a fair bit of oil "left behind" I still just count it all. I go on the assumption that if I do overestimate my oil calories a bit, it will all even out because I'm bound to underestimate something else along the way.

When I use 2 tablespoons of olive oil on the bottom of a pan, I notice when I go to wash out the pan that a lot of oil in still in the pan dripping out in the sink. More on the bottom of the pan I wash away. Could I come to the conclusion that only 1 tablespoon got onto the food and into my body and therefore track one tablespoon only or would you still track 2. At 120 calories per tablespoon and following a calorie diet, every calorie counts. Thanks for your opinions.
