I love chips so if I must have them I plan for them in my day.

Baked, sweet potato or other things that substitute for chips just wont do. Especially since they contain almost as much and sometimes more fat and calories as regular chips.

So I just eat the chips. My personal preference.

I can take or leave dip, but I want to try the Oikos dips

I really like ruffles potato chips. I don't buy them because of that. After a while I don't even miss them.

My major chip weakness is Doritos but I do love potato chips. I have tried and tried and experimented with making my own in the oven and microwave - I just can't get it to work. So my husband and I just get whatever chips we're craving and watch our portion sizes. Kettle chips mostly - and watch the ingredients: I prefer the list to read something like this: potatoes, oil, salt, other spices. and we get baked chips occasionally as well.
Air-popped popcorn does work well for that salty crunchy craving though; and it's cheap. an air popper can be as cheap as $10 and popcorn seeds last forever. we just pop, spray with a little cooking spray (I prefer butter flavor and watch the ingredients on this as well), spice it up to taste. a little cinnamon, sugar and cocoa powder can satisfy that sweet craving too.
But I've also discovered over the last couple years that my favorite way to have potatoes is cubed and steamed. It's easy and versatile. they can be seasoned any way one wants. I could eat them almost every day. and I love the sweet potatoes this way too. and turnips, kohlrabi, winter squash; ok now I'm just getting myself into a whole other topic ...... ....

Outside of pizza and BBQ (which I reserve for meals), chips are my Professor Moriarty.
They're evil and I don't want them around, but life's so much more interesting with them.

I have done the baked thin slice things (works fairly well both regular and sweet potato). I've done the greek yogurt dips (the new Oikos ones are already prepared and are something like 10 calories a serving). Just remember, nobody eats a single serving of dip with chips.

Special K Cracker Chips are pretty low cal relative to chips/baked chips/veggie chips. And are equally satisfying. Easy to count out too as they're all the same size and aren't often all broken up making "about 14 chips per serving" complete guesswork.

I often save 'calories' in my daily plan for post workout snacks. Almost a meal, actually. Quite often, there's room in there for completely guilt free potato chips.

I'm not such a great fan of greasy potato chips, but I am of greasy tortilla chips! I just have to make a conscious effort to stay away from both. I have one of those potato chip makers for the microwave, and the chips come out OK, but surely not as good as some I've tasted from the store. Mostly, all it takes is moderation with foods like these.

Keep a sense of humor. Remember, laughing burns calories too!

Don't eat the chips! Substitute your craving with something else. Brush your teeth, drink a glass of water, then go for a walk. By the time your done, your craving should subside.

Do not eat them, but you can try freeze dried fruit such as apples, pears and or bananas as the have the crunch and crisp texture of a chip. The other good part is they have no added stuff so they run about 40 calories and can count as much as 1.5 fruits. Hope this helps.

Always. It's football season and before Spark I had to have chips when watching a game especially my Steelers. Now, if I have to have chips I buy the small bags of baked chips.

I've had 2 25g bags of crisps in the last week - not had any for months but was on holiday, camping, walking a lot, and crisps (Oh sorry, that's English for chips!!) was a nice holiday treat. That's it till my next holiday though. I don't crave them any more, but I still enjoy them from time to time.

Potatoes are actually good for you. They are loaded with nutrients and the carbs they contain are complex carbs. Here's a link to a Spark People article about potatoes:

Chips are my weakness too. Sometimes, the craving for the salt and crunch of them gets out of hand. At those times I eat roasted salted seaweed. It is delicious, cheap and much more healthy.

We buy a smaller bag of the baked kind, but not very often, and husband likes those best. I've tried to enjoy sweet potatoes, but just can't stomach them, mainly because they are sweet. Just allow a small bag into your house now and then, of the real thing. Making little bits and pieces of torn up tortillas or something like that leads to overindulgence in this family, you think they are "good" so you make them too often, and another bad habit joins the ones you are trying to break away from.

I was craving chips this weekend so what I did was cut lavish bread with a pizza cutter then put a little bit of olive oil on the cookie sheet and a little garlic powder on them , baked them for 5 minutes and then had it with a tablespoon of shredded cheese and salsa and wow!!!!! It was delicious!
I saw it on hungry girl what she did was mix the salsa with greek yogurt for dipping but I had no yogurt and it was filling and a lot less calories and the lavish bread became crispy.

Starting to like the new me!
Waiting for my garden to come to life!

My major weakness! I can eat bags and bags of them! Any kind! I just love them but now I just buy pringles lite or fat free and only have the serving size....after about 2 weeks I don't even crave them anymore!

I make a version of home made fries that I like better than fries from a restaurant. I slice a large potato lengthwise in thin slices. I brush on both sides a rub I made of olive oil, garlic salt and white pepper. I bake in toaster over for 20 minutes each side. Temp 400 to 450 depending on how crispy you want it. It's so good and not fried or with hidden ingredients that is not healthy like fast food places do.

Potatoes are good for you. There is even an article of Spark called, Why Potatoes Are Good For You. It's the frying that makes it bad for you and all the butter one puts on it if baked.

I love regular potato chips. And French Fries. I really don't care for sweet potatoes. So, I do allow myself to eat the regular version on occasion and I enjoy every bite.

I make onion dip with nonfat, plain Greek yogurt and the packet of onion soup mix. It tastes great!

You don't have to eat the whole thing.

Ok so white potatoes aren't really good for you. And them being fried makes it worse. Then there is the processed baked version. Hey wait minute, what if you had sweet potatoes! And you made them with spices instead of salt, just maybe sprayed them and watched them in the oven? Then when they cooled proportioned them out! I even saw a microwave tool to make chips in the micro wave. Ok, then, were on a roll. And when you proportion them out are you a chip and dip person. Can't break up the two? Then proportion out a low fat dressing, or salsa. Now you get where I am going...
