I changed my tracker when they introduced the newer style (to account for exercise) but unless I've had a very intense workout I stay between 1500-1600 calories a day. My range is 1400-1800 but I'm good with 15-1600 calories a day. Any less and I'm sluggish; anymore and I feel like I'm eating all the time. So yeah, I stay within my range~

"If a person wants to be a part of your life, they will make an obvious effort to do so. Think twice before reserving a space in your heart for people who do not make an effort to stay."

"Your happiness is up to you. Whatever happened in your life to make you who you are up until this point is irrelevant. It is your responsibility now to take control and change your life to be what you want it to be. Energy and persistence conquer all things. Make time, not excuses."

I stay in range mostly the lower number but on the days I run it is tough to get that even with snacks. I eat more the next day so by the end of the week it balances out.

I try and for the most part stay within range. But sometimes I have trouble getting enough. Especially when working. 12 hr midnights. Then Saturday I went crazy and went over by about a couple thousand. ugh!

I stay within my range about 90% of the time. On days when I do not exercise, I try to stay at the lower end of my range (1200-1300 calories). On days when I exercise, I eat a little more (up to 1500).

To be honest, before I go to bed, I am usually under my calorie goal.~~ But, when I decide to cheat on something that is not healthy, choose to not add it to my tracker.

I try to stay on the low end of the suggested calorie range. So, 1200 - 1400 is my range. Most of time, I do end up a little over. With exercise, the weight is coming off. Something is working.

I follow mine well. I pre-pack my snacks on Sunday for the week and have 'back up' snacks in the freezer for if I am starved from exercise, craving sweet or salty, or need to boost my intake...of usually protein. More importantly, I look at my nutritional values, being vegan, getting enough protein is something I have to really watch. I noticed early on that if I am low on protein, I will absolutely go over on fat and carbs and often calories. This could be true for omnivores too...no idea. Might be something to watch if you are struggling. I'd love to know if you notice the same thing!

Different isn't always better; but better is ALWAYS different! (author unknown)

I try to follow the calorie range but I also put a huge emphasis on the nutritional value of my choices. I find the more I add in terms of veggies, the less cravings and the better my calorie ranges add up.

I am usually right in the middle.....rarely go over and if I do it is usually because something comes up and I have to eat outside the house. I try to always plan what I will eat for the day. That way I don't have to worry about it! then I print out my menu and put it in the kitchen. If I want to change something I will recalculate.

I'm not tracking religiously right now (trying to listen to my body more), but when I did, I was very consistent, and the weight loss showed it! Once I went 40 days without going over my range. But I didn't have much else going on in my life when that happened. Now that I'm busier and have more friends, I give myself more flex.

I tend to follow the recommendations pretty closely. If I exercise, I eat toward the higher end, if not, I stick to right around the minimum, give or take 100 or so either way.

Within 100-200 calories but for what I do I have to eat 2000-2150 calories. When I am in training mode for triathlons,I eat about 400 cal more than I would when not training.

When I was in weight loss mode, I followed it religiously. Now that I'm in maintenance, I'm having trouble wrapping my mind around accepting the increase in calories and am generally 200-300 cals less than recommended during the week. I'm in range on Saturdays and Sundays. It's just that it's new to me, I think.

I try to follow the intake range but for exercise my fitbit overestimates time and calories burned so I totally ignore the calories out and alter the time to state when I actually physically exercised not just completed steps during the normal course of the day.

I follow the range pretty closely. I do have a splurge day here and there but I get right back at it the next day. When I exercise, I tend to eat the higher level of calories. My body needs more energy after a workout.

The only thing that's holding you back from achieving your dreams is YOU!

Not eating enough can actually work against your weight loss efforts. Please see this page to get a better look at this: www.sparkpeople.com/community/ask_the_expe

.

It sounds like you are using the new way of tracking where your nutrition range will vary based on how much exercise you did. You shouldn't need to eat back all those calories, but you will likely need to eat back some so that your body has enough fuel and nutrients. Eating back all of the calories you burn from exercising may still help you lost weight—or it might not. You may need to experiment a little to find the "sweet spot" in your adjusted range that works for you. We recommend aiming for the middle of your adjusted daily calorie range for best results. You may also find it better to go back to the "old" method of calculating, but if you are consistently working out for a long time each day, you may find that eating more in the middle range of your adjusted ranges. This FAQ can help you decide which might work best.

I try to stay between 1200-1500 even when I exercise. The suggested limit is what you need to follow to lose whatever you've set your goal at in the start page. So by going under you have the potential to meet it faster. However this isn't advised as 1-3 lbs a week is the recommended limit for safe and long-term weight loss.

Hi folks,
Wanted to know how closely you follow sparkpeople recommendations for your calorie range, especially when you exercise? I follow the range pretty closely, but feel uncomfortable with the amount increase in calories it recommends when I exercise. I feel like it is too high. For example, I burned 400 calories today, so it wants me to increase my calories by that many.

Have you had success following the calorie range exactly, including on days you exercise?

thanks much in advance for the advice!
