Get out of the house if you can - stay out of the kitchen at least.

Since I have just begun, I think having my food planned for the day helps tremendously. I know what I am going to eat and when, and if I get hungry I have a drink of water or some green tea to tide me over. So far I haven't had much of a problem, but as I said, I have just begun.

Since I stopped eating gluten, I don't get cravings and have less instances of stress eating (although I still fall prey to that) and I can discern when I am really hungry. When really hungry, I eat.

I eat lightly during the day, and have the bulk of my calories in the evening. My body doesn't know what time it is, so as long as I'm staying in my guidelines I'm fine! I eat protein bars or fat free yogurt during the day because I'm genuinely not hungry. I work a desk job and I don't have time to even think about it. I ALWAYS make sure I have some calories left in case I get the midnight munchies. My answer to everything is sugar free or low cal popsicles or italian ice. If it's a sweet taste I'm wanting, that always works. If I'm wanting something salty, I've been known to get up at midnight and peel and slice up a cucumber and salt it or drizzle it with vinegar and salt it. (I'm a bit strange, I admit.)

I usually have a light string cheese or a small piece of turkey. The protein keeps me satisfied and seems to keep my blood sugar from going too high at night.

If I am legitimately hungry late at night (i.e. my stomach is growling), I will have a light snack of maybe a slice of ham and cheddar or Triscuits and hummus. Nothing too heavy, but something that will make my stomach stop growling. Otherwise, I won't be able to get to sleep!

Have you tried a glass of milk or some celery and peanut butter? Protein is your friend when it comes to beating hunger. A little bit goes a long way.
