I do not believe in the safety, efficacy or necessity of these kinds of products.

The body "cleanses" itself.

It is my opinion that such a product is a scam for parting me with my money, of which I have only a limited supply.

Resolved in 2014 to remain below 120!

I agree that these "cleanses" are best at cleansing my money! emoticon
I'm pretty sure my body is working well and is keeping my "innards" clean.

If I had a dollar for all the products this man is promoting for weight loss, I may be as rich as him. I have no respect for him and think he is a scam. He's taking advantage of being on TV and a seal of approval from Oprah. He is also taking advantage of the desperation of people who want so desperately to lose weight. When I was younger I bought in to crazy diets and spent a pretty penny on it. The only thing that works for the long haul is eating healthy on a daily bases and exercising or moving you body and not calling it exercise. The exercise is free and eating healthy can cost not more than eating not healthy.

This does not appeal to me, I don't like Dr. Oz but that is beside the point.
I agree there is no research to support any need or advantages to "cleansing" diets.

I have done the Master Lemonade Cleanse. I did it for like 3 days and lost 5 pounds. I did it to stop the cravings and jump start a clean healthy diet and it worked great for that.

I am not a fan of Dr Oz. I think he has his name attached to every latest diet craze out there. I think he is probably getting rich at the expense of others.

I don't have any issues with a cleanse, but I don't think you need to pay much money for it. The lemon cleanse was lemons, cayenne pepper, and maple syrup and you make it yourself. Also be prepared to gain that weight back.

Cheers,

Cleanses are not necessary, don't work (they don't cleanse your body of anything) and are hard on your body. It's basically an expensive way to give yourself diarrhea, which is not a good thing to do to your body at all (diarrhea is actually a leading cause of death in third world countries, where they don't have access to the same sort of medical care and products to control diarrhea that we have here). I wouldn't do it.

Dr. Oz is not a reliable source of medical information (or any other information, really). He is really just out to make money for himself and it seems that he'll say or do whatever he needs to in order to line his pockets. He uses his medical degree to give himself credibility, but he's anything but credible. He promotes fad diets, supplements that don't work and anything else in order to gain popularity with the masses (thus getting more viewers, which leads to more sponsors, which all leads to more $$$ for him). Personally, I think he's incredibly unethical.

I did the Dr. Oz cleanse a few months ago (my coworker and I followed it exactly), and it was not worth the money or the unpleasantness of the drinks. I lost 6 pounds doing it, and gained 5 back the following weekend (and I follow a healthy lifestyle).

Remember... nothing tastes as good as healthy feels.

If Dr. Oz's name is on it, you can be pretty sure that it's NOT a good idea. Most things that come out with his name are flat-out scams; con artists have found that it's VERY profitable to use his name without his permission. And part of the reason they can do it is that he has given permission for his name to be used on equally phony things. If he prosecuted people for using his name without his permission, that would draw more attention to things he has allowed and make it more likely that he would be sued for those. He can't say, "You have to stop using my name because it hurts my reputation" and at the same time say, "I'm not responsible for the actions of people who use my name by permission."

The best "cleanse" is to stop putting bad things into your body. Just stop eating things that you know are junk food, and eat more of the things that you know are good for you. Three days with no soda, sweets, or hydrogenated oil and with at least five servings of vegetables will give you all the "cleansing" or "jump-starting" you need, with no risk.

It is really expensive if you follow it to the letter. And I have only heard of it cleansing people of their money.

Ive had bad experiences with cleanses in general. Not this one but many years ago one made me very sick. So I cannot recommend them

Made it to my maintenance weight of 125 pounds.

Even though I have reached goal. I still don't know everything about weight loss.

SparkPeople doesn't recommend any kind of cleanses, because there's no research to support that you need them. Your body is already very efficient at removing toxins, and these cleanses can do more harm than good because they can mess with the balance of healthy bacteria in your system, making you sick. The best way to cleanse your body is through a healthy diet and regular exercise.

Hope that helps,
