Why do some people think everyone wants to see them? Or needs to see them? Why assume that fact automatically, no matter how they look? Like young guys with low pants on, they assume everyone wants to see them.

If women don't look like nubile eye candy, if they look like good breeders and more apt to have biomarkers of health (i.e., low waist-to-hip ratio)--never mind evolutionary biology--they could forget about enjoying their weight loss accomplishments in the way that tatoo artists and fashion designers have promoted for years, for all ages and all marital statuses.

It doesn't have to be a water park. It could be a trendy beach, an upscale gym, The High Line, Greenwich Village or Cancun ...

I put the blame on those meeting-and-weigh-in weight loss organizations for selling all and sundry a real bill of goods with THAT one ...

Oh please. You all know as well as I do that she was likely not the only person there wearing a revealing bikini. When was the last time you went to a water attraction of ANY kind (park, beach, whatever) that didn't feature scantily clad teens revealing everything and anything?

This woman's only crime is poor fashion sense. That it's unflattering is irrelevant. Unless they remove EVERY woman in a bikini showing sideboob, this was unreasonable and discriminatory.

The problem isn't the bikini, it's the body under it. We all know that.

The officials might have said something due to complaints from other patrons. She may be proud of her body but she was dressed too provocatively for a family water park. Part of being well dressed is to dress for the event. This lady was old enough to know better.

Hmmm, I couldn't see the bikini bottoms that clearly but she was falling out of the top. Would you go somewhere dressed like that with a nephew and niece? They probably didn't know where to look. Just not appropriate for a family friendly park. Maybe other people did have bikinis just as skimpy - and maybe they were a better fit!

I agree - those implants are not the result of weight loss and look to pop out with any movement. There has to be more to the story. She could have been a safety hazard to teenaged boys and wandering eyed husbands.

All I can say is many woman who have worn bikinis to a water park have ended up regretting it. As they come down the slide and their top or bottom comes off.

I"m surprised they complained about the bottoms. The top was far more revealing! I could see them telling her to put a shirt on. But not shorts.

I can't do anything about my genes, but I can sure do something about my jeans!

I watched the interview and if I was at that water park I would have gawked with pleasure which means that my "creep-o-meter" kicked in and that's not always a good thing. Further more my gf or, God forbid, my ex-wife would have hit-the-roof that I was enjoying eye candy.

It wasn't mentioned in the video but I am thinking those teen-aged employee boys were approached by some cranky old biddy who was miffed that her hubby was "distracted" by Schaffer's scantily clad full figured body.

Does that mean I AGREE that she should've worn what she did?

What's weird is that she says they said her bottom was too small, but when you look at the pictures, she's falling out of the top.

For the last 20 years I've lived in places where there actually aren't any nudity laws, so this couldn't happen. And you know what? It generally doesn't happen. In the US, it seems that most people who go naked or nearly so in public do it for the thrill of causing a reaction. Let's face it; she didn't dress that way for comfort. If there were no nudity laws and no chance of anybody saying anything to her, I'm betting that she would have worn something that fit a little better.

Then again, I admit that when I first lost all my weight, I went through a phase of wearing things that maybe weren't 100% appropriate. Some of it was the excitement of having more clothing choices, and some of it was just forgetting that I owned skimpy clothes that I couldn't wear everywhere. I used to run in just a sport bra and shorts-- which is fine in and of itself, but I once forgot that I was dressed that way and went to the grocery on my way home. Nobody paid any attention because that's the kind of place I lived at the time (and because there wasn't much in that bra, and definitely nothing hanging out of it), but in most other cities it would have been inappropriate.

I guess the way I look at it is that she should have a right to dress that way, but she should have good enough taste not to. I wouldn't have asked her to leave, but I definitely would have rolled my eyes. You can celebrate your weight loss by wearing something that's flattering and fits.

I get wanting to flaunt your body after loosing a considerable amount of weight, but this sounded like a family friendly water park and based on those pics shown that was a pretty skimpy top and really revealing. I would want something covering me on top better than that and look more classy.

I am not sure about being booted out, but I guess that is up to the discretion of the mgmt. We are not sure if other parents complained about her skimpy suit or really what was behind asking her to leave.

Cheers,

If other people were wearing the same type of bikini, they should have left her alone to enjoy the park.

I think some of this is her privilege to flaunt.

For instance, she is very into body building. And I read elsewhere that she's had .. shall I say ... plastic surgery correction/enhancements ...

Am not into weight training anymore and have not had plastic surgery. And that's all I'm going to say about it. Would not do that, personally.

And, yes, we all do have mirrors. But not all of us had been squelched, verbally abused and/or made to feel inadequate by members of the opposite sex or by fashionistas. Some middle aged moms are perfectly mentally healthy. Not deluded. Some of them really don't consider themselves to be mandated (womandated?) or impelled to cover up "overabundance" because of the possibility of their being considered the traditional "brick house"--and are not body-style fashion victims ...

There is no way the park could have known she lost a lot of weight or struggled with her weight. All they saw is what was in front of them. In my opinion from the photos I saw her bathing suit WAS revealing. Her breasts were coming out of the sides and bottom of the top. That means the suit is too small.

I was 168 lbs when I started this journey, my lowest weight 5 yrs ago was 105 lbs. At 38, I did not find the need to wear clothes that my teenager was wearing to make me feel like I was celebrating.

Missouri calls itself the "Show Me" state, but there's only so much one woman was allowed to show at a water park.

When Madelyn Sheaffer went to the Adventure Oasis Water Park in Independence, Mo., on Tuesday, the last thing she expected was that her bathing suit would cause fireworks.

Sheaffer, 43, said after she got into the pool with her niece and nephew, two teenage employees approached her and told her to put on shorts because her bottoms were too small.

A supervisor backed up their decree by saying she needed to cover up or leave the park.

I just felt like I was singled out, Sheaffer told KSHB-TV. I felt like it was both age and body discrimination and I felt like I could look around me and I could see a handful of other girls half my age, wearing the same size swimming suit and not being singled out and told to put on clothes or leave.

Sheaffer then asked that the water park officials call the police to have her removed so that she could file a complaint against the park. On her Facebook page, she wrote that the officers who showed up sympathized with her plight:

"We can't actually say anything," they said as we walked outside, (as it is a city owned park), ..but I hope from the expressions on our face you can tell how we feel," They were compassionate. They too, thought it was ridiculous.
