Setting a challenging/achievable goal such as shaving off 30+ seconds on a run time. Or finding a new, fun workout to do via youtube. I also like to switch up my cardio and weight lifting routines :D I also look at the instructors in the videos I watch and draw inspiration from them. Doing a workout is never going to be easy, but I know that if I keep it up I will have more energy for the rest of my days.

I have been walking with Leslie Sansone for going on 9 weeks. It took me about 2 weeks, to get through 1 mile, did those for 2 weeks, than increased it to 1 1/2 miles then on to 2 miles. I am on 3 miles for the 3rd week starting today.
I have to say my first couple of weeks I gave into my whiny self, and couldn't complete 1/2 of a mile without groaning and moaning. I got through it, and you can see what I was able to accomplish through today.
My incentive? Down from size 16/18 jeans to a size 12. Best incentive I have to date! Just from walking with Leslie.
Of course I am eating right, I follow "Eating clean" so it all goes hand in hand but I have never had better results than I do today. When I first joined Spark I managed to get 46 lbs gone, but I hadn't done one bit of exercise. I gained pretty much all of it back.
But a light went on, and a drastic diagnosis. And here I am on my way to a possible size 10
Don't think I can get much smaller, because I am large boned, but I would be oh so ok with that! lol
My motivation? I want to be healthy, think healthy, and promote healthy from here on out.

ive just started running again, so i signed up for a race in november. this gives me plenty of time to get ready, but also ive already paid the entry fee. so if i get lazy and start skipping workouts, im wasting my money.

I drive over the road so working out is a challenge. A friend suggested a foot bike for the truck. I got one for Christmas and have peddled from city to city for example, from San Antonio to El Paso while my co driver drove. it was 2 hours and I burned 830 calories. Posting fun things like that on face book so my friends can smile and laugh that I'm like Fred Flintstone and wow that really saves on the fuel, motivates me.

I enjoy running so much now, I am always looking forward to the next one! Signing up for 5-Ks gives me a goal date to work towards, but just being outdoors and listening to music are good motivators. This week I'll have a running buddy to keep me company on at least one run. Next week, I'll be dog-sitting a big Labrador, and I think he will make a good running companion, too.

I make an excel spreadsheet and map out my workout schedule for a month. In each day, I just type in the name of the DVD or the type of exercise I want to do, then when I complete that day, I open the spreadsheet and fill in that cell with a bright colored background.

It has also helped me to get my workout in after I wake up. I do it first thing, and get it over with, that way if I don't feel like working out, I don't have time to argue with myself or talk myself out of it. I just get up and get it done. At this point, a morning workout is as much a part of my routine as getting dressed or drinking coffee, and although at first I hated the idea of getting up early to workout, it has now become something that I miss if I can't do it.

You have to stop thinking of exercise as a choice that you make. When you look at it as a choice, you argue with yourself about whether or not you want to, or feel like doing it. You need to look at it as more of a necessity, like taking a shower or brushing your teeth. You might not feel like doing it, but you have to take care of yourself.

My husband works out at the same time I do. I also have gym buddies who save my bike or partially set up my step and weights for Les Mills Body Pump (they get there at 4:45am and I don't pull in until 5:15am). I don't want to disappoint either. But lately my motivation has been people at the gym commenting on how much weight I have lost, when I weigh the same but the workouts are transforming my body. The consistent cardio and weight training are really paying off, especially after being off for months with a torn rotator cuff.

I pack clean clothes in my gym bag, grab my bottled water with added Creatine, get on the bike and head off to the gym. What seems to be the problem?

I signed up for a triathlon! I weigh over 200 lbs but I'm still doing it. It's a mini-triathlon, but it will still be tough. I HATE running, and can still only "run" a 5k in about 50 minutes. But I have a few months to get better (I've already been trying to run via SP's C25k program, but its tough!!) it's depressing when I have "run" (jog/walk) and when I enter it into SP it comes up as "walking". I will get better and I will finish the triathlon!!

For me I'm a morning person, when I'm trying to talk myself out of exercising, I say to myself, okay I don't feel like it, but I've committed to at least 15 minutes of something..and 90% of the time I go my full workout or longer....once the "this feels great sets in" there is no way I'm talking myself out of it at that moment.

Can't help you with working out after work, I just can't bring myself to do it, too much of a morning person.

p.s. I also like what AGITATOR1 said, why do we let feelings get in the way. mmm I might learn something here..should be automatic as brushing our teeth we just do it :)

I make an appt with myself to workout. Then, I make myself clear a space in the living room and select a workout DVD to do. Then, I just follow the DVD as best I can. It's really a no-brainer then!

Then I keep telling myself how GOOD I'm going to feel when I'm done and have my long, cool shower!

I love working out first thing in the morning! I only watch my shows while on the treadmill, so I know I'm going to enjoy whatever I'm watching. I am currently watching _Game of Thrones_ . I look forward to seeing what is going to happen and this helps keep me motivated to put my walking shoes on (I sleep in my exercise clothes, so that's the only thing I have to put on in the morning to be ready). As a bonus, I weigh myself daily after working out and then eat breakfast (I'm always so happy to enjoy my breakfast after exercising!). Routines you love really help you to stay motivated! More importantly, I know that exercise is essential to my weight lost of 80 pounds so far, and I love feeling my body move each morning. It makes me feel more connected to my physical self!

I usually go jogging in the evenings. So one thing I do is pack my workout clothes and take them to work with me in the morning. I then change in the bathroom at work after work. This motivates me to exercise for that evening because when I walk outside to get to my car and I am already dressed from headband to tennis, its just easier for me to go do it!

I recently starting watching netflix (shows like 30 Rock, etc...) while on the elliptical, bike, or treadmill. Each episode is about 20 minutes so I can alternate between different cardio machines with each show. I know I have to exercise it makes the time pass faster, and I always feel great when I'm done. For me, just getting there is the hardest part, but I know it's so worth it. I love feeling the sweat when I'm done. "Sweat is fat crying" haha.

Why o why do some people make life harder for themselves. I don't use my feelings when I go exercise. That is why many people don't work out because their feelings got in the way.. it's logic and reasoning. that keeps me going. Knowing what the end results are going to be emoticon

When I retired I made it my job to go to a fitness center 5 days a week and to be active the rest of the week. I was brought up to have a good work ethic so I look at exercise as my job. emoticon

I think I have the opposite problem, sorta. I used to hate to exercise, but now that I started, I hate not exercising. On my "rest" days I find it almost impossible to not exercise. I don't do much though...mostly power walk, bike, or run (all cardio).I can't bring myself to strength train.

Most days I enjoy walking but every so often I just have to remind myself to get up off my butt and go walking. I feel a lot better after I exercise so feeling good is my main motivation~
Now doing strength training is my Achilles heel so I have to mix it around or I'll peter out in terms of motivation on that front!

I just had this conversation with myself this morning. I was getting ready to leave the house and work out, and I thought for a moment how easy it would be to just ditch it and make some coffee. Then I thought about how good I feel after I work out, and remembered it's only about an hour of my time to feel that good.

It was easy from then. Nothing worth doing is easy, and the biggest motivation for me is the way I feel about myself after I do something good for me.

Dr. says no exercise for 6 weeks (surgery). Nothing like being told "no" to make it seem even better. I never would've believed it of myself, but I can't wait to get the release and get back to the Y.

I just worked it into my daily schedule. Drop the kids off at school and go walk my 4 miles. This summer I'm taking the kids with me walking. I try not to get distracted.

I think about how easily I gain weight and know if I don't exercise I will gain. I tell myself you only have to do one hour per day. What is one hour out of your day to have the weight you want. Then I guilt myself and my self talk is something like: "Be grateful you are healthy and strong and can do these exercises. Think about people who are not healthy and would give anything to be able to hike or swim. You are complaining about having to exercise. Get your butt outside NOW"

I go to my YouTube video playlists of whatever upbeat music I'm in the mood for and watch the videos as I rebound. Time goes by so fast that way!
