it took a while to get in the habit, but once I got a schedule going it's easy. I don't mind getting up early to go to the gym before work. I found my energy level is up and I move faster and think clearer. I like that feeling and want to stay on track.

Gratitude

I am grateful for of course my family and friends.
I am grateful that I have a job that I love.
I am grateful that I have money to pay my bills.
I am grateful that my health is good.
I am grateful that I have a very stong faith.

Before work, I dress in workout clothes and stretch, then when I get off work 8 hours later, I have no excuse not to workout because I am already dressed for it. May not happen immediately after work, but it will happen before I go anywhere.

I look forward to working out 98% of the time. I actually get cranky if I don't get some exercise done. You have to find something that you enjoy doing, so it doesn't feel like a chore.

Progress may be slow, but it happens!

I just remind myself how I felt before I started working out. Tired, depressed, lazy, a couch potato, after I walk or run I feel alive and I have lots more energy.

I have a few ways to motivate myself.

1. I wake up 1-2 hours before I have to get ready for work...it helps me to wake up
2. I remind myself that most times I will be too tired or busy after work to do it
3. It is the BEST time for me to read a book for leisure or homework - yes, I still maintain 18mph

Just in case you believe all that prejudiced nonsense about British teeth - I do NOT clean my teeth 3 times a week! Twice and day, thank you very much xxxx

I don't - any more than I motivate myself to clean my teeth or put a load of washing on. It's what I do, 3 times a week. I never ask myself "shall I go to the gym today" If it's on the calendar, I just grab the gym bag and go. Thinking about ti is disastrous!

I tell myself about the goals I'm working on. I fit it in between my bus routes. Even during the workout I add little pieces to it. Like let's do one more rep. or let's walk to this marker. My strides are getting stronger and better.

Every year I take a week-long hiking trip, so throughout the year, I stay motivated because the last thing I want is to be out of breath trekking up a mountain. Having that goal keeps me exercising on a regular basis and in good shape for the hiking trip. I would likely exercise, anyway, but there are times that I have slacked when I didn't have a physical goal to work toward.

I can totally relate and am in the same range as you (I'm 185 and want to get to 145). For the past two years I have let the stresses of work take the place of my mental, physical and spiritual fitness. I'm making the change again, irrespective of how many times I've lost and gained again, I know that I want to feel better internally vice it just being an external issue. Good luck to us all!

I try to think of activities to do like bike riding and walking as opposed to "working out". I have joined a gym in the past and I became bored with it after a while and stopped going, so I have better luck with doing things and being more active.

Perhaps the issue you are facing is a weight-loss plateau. I have inserted a link to the Mayo Clinic which may help you to understand this normal but perhaps frustrating process.

The number on my scale hasn't moved in 2wks, despite all my efforts of eating right and exercising, for some this could be the moment that they throw the towel in , but not for me. I know I've lost inches cause I feel it in my clothes everytime that I get dressed, and I have so much more energy than before, but the thing that probably motivates me the most is I'm doing this for a good cause, getting healthy. I also remind myself that I didn't become overweight overnight and will not loose all that I've gained overnight, it's a process. Although it is nice to have a cheerleader on the side cheering us on, we are our best cheerleaders because we know what our body can do. So to ALL I say emoticon emoticon

My friend told me about her motivating trick and since I applied it; it became my "aha" moment. I get dressed in front of the mirror!!! It sounds horrible and torturous. And at first it was but it a revealing moment the first several times. I was a crying mess the first time I did this. I could see the cellulite that became like barnacles and moon crescents on my thighs, the rolls on my stomach that I would hide under my clothes. I saw me for me - flaws and all. I admit it was an epiphany for me. I saw what I have done to my body ( I used to be superfit and I just let it life get in the way). But with every moment of working out and eating right, every time I look in the mirror naked, I see an improvement. I see my thighs and legs getting smaller and tighter. My stomach is slimming down. It has definitely became a part of my routine when I get dress in the morning. It continues to motivate me everyday - I can SEE what working out and eating right does to my body. And that brings greater satisfaction than the numbers on the scale because sometimes the inches come off faster than the numbers on the scale.

I found a buddy to go with. When I know someone else is counting on me, it motivates me. And we walk and talk, which is a nice bonus too. I wish that I could make myself get up and do it just for myself, but my track record tells me I am not quite to that point yet. So having a workout buddy works for me.

A gym manager once said to me that the hardest part to keeping at it is entering the gym door. Well, I adjusted this to just telling myself I'll just do something small, e.g a few squats, arm exercises,a short walk down the road, etc. etc. etc. One set down the line or a few steps down the line, I somehow want more....this works for me. Maybe the feeling of achievement that I started...

I struggled with "motivation" for a long time. It was only within the last few weeks that I've actually solved this problem. My excuse for never sticking to my ideal diet or actually getting around to the workouts I planned was that I couldn't motivate myself. Then I found this blog where the girl was describing all the same issues I had. I tried to post the link below to her page about motivation vs. determination because I don't think I could say it better, but the page wouldn't let me.

In summary, though, the answer is this: you will probably never stay motivated, but that's OK. You don't need motivation to succeed, all you need is determination. I don't know why, but that just clicked for me. Motivation will give you the boost to get started, but when push comes to shove, you just need to be determined. Taking the emotion out of it really helped for me.

I just included it in my day rotine, so that if I don´t go...I have to stare at walls instead...
And so it´s very hard to justify not going...
How??? I asked my boss to alter my schedule so I could arrive later, and leave later...
So I leave the kids at school, go to the gym, take a bath a go to work...
It´s just part of my day...except Wednesdays.
That day is my resting day, so my hubby takes the kids and I go straight to work at 08.00!
So it´s like a job! No thinking, no motivation needed, no nothing... just a part of the day!

Just do it! I have lost my motivation to work out and kept forgetting till too late. So now I have gone back to doing it first thing, which has 2 advantages. It gets it done and it wakes me up. An additional advantage is that I can then follow it up with walking the dogs or walking round town at my leisure, which adds minutes and burns more cals. Then I meet my weekly aim and that makes me feel good

I remind myself how good I feel after I work out and that the effect is cumulative - working out makes me feel better and better. It doesn't have to be some mega crunch session - walking, yoga, simple things are also good and beneficial. Keep on moving! emoticon

I lost 34 lbs. about a year ago. Those results keep me motivated since I've got about 62 lbs. to lose until I reach my goal.

I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me!

My cousin in law is pregnant with a little one at home. She gets up and does the gym at 5 am BEFORE work. I think I can go on a walk.

I just recently purchased the Jawbone Up band. I like to sync it to my phone about 4 times a day to see how many steps I have accumulated. If they are low I know I have to get moving more. I'll check my steps and say "Is it more beneficial to take a 15 minute walk or sit down and watch TV?" The walk always wins. It really helps me make wiser decisions,

Helps alleviate anxiety so when I feel my stomach tightening I bike. It helps a lot

Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself. And that no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams, because every second of the search is a second’s encounter with God and with eternity"
