Your welcome, people don't realize how bad Lyme is until they or someone they love have it and it's a nightmare that you live with if it becomes chronic. Sometimes it gets mistaken for lupus, chronic fatigue syndrome and yes even MS.
They can be carried into your yards by mice, rats, cats, dogs, deer so just because your not going through the woods doesn't mean you are immune, I'd hate to see anyone go through what my son and I have been through it's hell on earth...

Starting to like the new me!
Waiting for my garden to come to life!

Thanks for the reminder. That sucks that they didn't catch it for years. I got Lyme's disease twice, but both times it was caught almost right away. The first time, I had the bullseye rashes and I got bell's palsy, and I felt like I got beat up, like you said. But, the rash was a giveaway and I got antibiotics that cleared it up right away. The second time, no rash, but I had the palsy again, and I knew what to look for...so I was put on antibiotics again. So, I guess I got lucky....but it instilled in me a HUGE fear of ticks, and I deal with joint pain quite a bit.

Oh Lord, you have searched me and you know me. -Psalm 139:1

I know two people that have already gotten bit. I am originally from Wisconsin-tick capital of the world.

I did my best today, tomorrow I will do even better.

Thank God! My dog had ticks because of the neighbour's dog! No matter what I did, everyday, new ticks would find their way to my dog! My neighbour doesn't even bother or care as as a result my dog got infested everyday! I had to spend 40 minutes a day grooming and deticking him! And yet, new ones were always back the next day.

Despite close contact with my dog, I never got bitten! Thank God!

Thank you for putting out this warning. Lyme disease is HUGE but people rarely recognize it for what it is until too late. My aunt has battled Lyme for decades and I may have it as well. Take ticks seriously.

Always a good reminder! Thank you!! Unfortunately, I've already had my experience this year. Despite wearing full length(ankle) hiking boots, hiking socks, jeans, long sleeved shirt and hat, I hiked in my favorite spot about a month ago, and ...

sure enough ... they were already out. So I'm done hiking in the woods now until fall/winter. Grrrrrrrr ....

Hopefully I can take some vacation time to hike in areas that have no ticks!!!

My daughter got sick from a tick bite last summer. It wasn't lyme, we were lucky. She had to take tetracycline for a couple of weeks and it cleared up.

The ticks have been really bad this summer so far, I just got done bathing the dogs with tick shampoo but none of our usual stuff is working to get rid of the problem. We've treated our yard with spectracide, sprinkled the carpet with diatomaceous earth, used the spot treatments on the dogs, but none of it is working. I'm getting ready to shave the dogs down, even though they're all shorthaired.

This is the time of season when people love to go out and enjoy the great outdoors and I see so many out in the woods or sitting on the grass with their bare skin exposed and it just kills me because LYME DISEASE HAS RUINED MY LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!
I use to be very active, thin, smart, pain free , loved my medical assistant job and then I was bit by a tick and my whole life went down the toilet in a heartbeat!
I was complaining of headaches, exhaustion, slight hair loss , started gaining a few LBS, the feeling of being beaten up with a 2x4, tunnel vision, really bad cognitive problems (this went on for 3 -4 yrs ).
Doctor couldn't figure out was going on, right away if you say your gaining weight they say exercise.
I knew there was something wrong with my body it was no longer mine, I'd come home from a busy day at work and couldn't even stand any longer, I'd be falling down because my feet didn't feel like they were there for me. Constantly falling down the stairs and my knees sounded as if they had rice krispies in them.
I had no bullseye, no rash just symptoms and finally they found out it was Lyme and when I went on meds it started a war in my body because the lyme bacteria had set up shop in my body. I was literally knocked off my butt for a year.
The doctors believe now that the Lyme brought on Fibromyalgia , I live in severe pain daily a good day is a level 6/7 pain that is somewhat tolerable for me but I haven't even had that lately.
You need to protect yourself and your kids and make sure your checking your dogs and cats so they don't bring the little things into your home.
Did you know a deer carries 300 + ticks behind 1 ear?????? I didn't have to go into the woods to get bit and neither did my son he was 6 yrs old when he got it from playing soccer on the school field (deer use to run across it). I caught it with him but he still has learning problems from it and is still on meds we both are and I've had it for 15 yrs and he's had it for 10 yrs.
Did you also know that in the north east that a lot of doctors don't know how to treat this or even want to send you for a test? Did you also know that most testing isn't sensitive enough?
It took 4 tests to have it found in my son , we finally had to use Igenix labs to get the right diagnosis.
Did you know that some children can't even go to school because of Lyme? They have such bad cognitive problems they can't concentrate. I know of one child that went into a coma, she couldn't walk or talk after she was out of it and had no control over her body and had to use diapers.
I've known adults that have lost their eye sight, just had heart attacks (it just attacked the heart) and are in wheel chairs and can't walk.
Take this seriously!!!!!!! and protect your family!!!!!!!
You can find out a lot of info on it www.lyme.org , have a safe summer season I wouldn't want anyone to end up like me and my son.
I was actually lucky to get the lyme because it really did save my son and for that I can't ever say I wish I didn't get it because he'd of been worse then me.

Starting to like the new me!
