Give them away, donate them, or just don't buy them.

Eat them in moderation and they can be a part of a healthy diet.

Although I rarely keep unhealthy foods in the house now...whenever I have some, I just throw them into the backyard for the wildlife. The wildlife seem to enjoy the snacks...LOL. So, I'm doing my part for myself and for the wildlife! emoticon

LOL I love depending on coworkers to take care of the unhealthy things I don't want! I just can't THROW things away if they're okay to eat, no matter how unhealthy they are. Even when I can go on and on about how you "shouldn't eat things like that" it just doesn't seem right to pitch it.

Flushing can bring on the call to a plumber!

I buy single serve no sugar added ice cream like frozen bars on a stick, and always have them in the freezer. And fresh fruit..........husband likes starches, but I divide them up for him into little bags, measured out serving sizes. Reduced fat cheese from a block, I cut into one ounce servings and wrap. Light Laughing Cow cheese triangles are kept in the fridge to just eat, or baby bel cheese rounds, light. The usual stuff like chips, etc. we never can buy again, and that's just understood now.

I tend to inhale bags of potato chips or snack foods if I have any, so usually, I avoid buying them at all!

I have tried that, but inevitably...nobody wants any. So, I went through my cupboards and donated a ton of food to our local food bank recently.

I work in a building with 300 people and we have a huge breakroom. Whenever I want to get rid of something (food, books, knick knacks, etc), I just leave them in the breakroom with a note that reads "Help yourself!" Without fail, whatever I leave is gone before the end of the day.

Ha ha! Yes, a LOT of people where I work do exactly this. Which means, there is junky snack food available in the lunch room, at the front counter, and virtually everywhere I look, almost every single day.

Which - used to be a problem for me, as I would be one of (relatively few) people that would fall for the "free snacks" and would gobble them down gratefully, oh boy, free snacks!!! Donuts! Cookies! Candy! Cake! Yay!

That was one of the harder challenges to overcome when I started watching my food intake... denying the free-snacks. But with practice I've learned to do it with ease... yesterday, a box of Chunks Ahoy.... today, a flat of Tim Horton's donuts... nope, nope, no thank you, no I wouldn't like to split one...

I'm actually not sure who's eating the work-snacks now... all i know is, it is NO LONGER ME.

Goal 1 - break 200 (46 pounds lost)**DONE**
Goal 2 - leave obesity behind (BMI 29.9, at 185#) **DONE**
Goal 3 - BMI = Normal (154# or less)

I learned a great trick this week! I had two bags of combos (cheese filled crackers or pretzel bites) that were not worth their calorie count though I have always loved them. Each bag has 7 servings but I have a tendency to eat the whole bag. Well.... I took them to work and put them in the snack drawer at the nurses station. This afternoon, every coworker sitting at the nurses station had a paper towel full of combos and the bags were empty! emoticon No more temptation to eat those bags of combos! LOL
