I have three levels of clothes: cute, comfortable, and couch.

Cute are for wearing out in public.

Comfortable are for housework and stuff-- presentable if someone stops by, but not fashionable at all.

Couch is stretchy pants, no bra, and gigantic ugly sweatshirts. :)

KJ, I disagree completely with your GF. It is possible to wear fashionable clothes that are also comfortable.

My appearance is fairly important to me. I like to look polished and put together pretty-much all the time. That said, I also refuse to be uncomfortable. The key is making sure that the clothes fit you and suit you.

For example, I have very broad shoulders so I tend to wear a lot of knit tops rather than blouses made from stiff fabric with buttons. The tops are still fashionable, but they're also comfortable and don't bind my shoulders or arms.

Fashion??? What is that? LOLOL

I am so not fashionable at all, not into it..

Love my sweats, shorts, jeans, and Tshirts

I have casual clothes (short sleeve going out clothes) which I call dressy for church and in house work things LOL

I do think I (or anyone) can be fashionable (have a nice style) and be comfortable at the same time. Often I find that wearing my better clothes lifts my mood and actually makes me feel more comfortable.

As long as the fit the body correctly and make you look good, then they are both fashionable and comfortable in my mind.....but then again you are talkin to someone who spent the last 25 years running construction projects onsite.....my idea of fashion is the 7 pair of different colored steel toed boots I own and overalls....

Other than that my fashion consists of an endless supply of workout clothes which I think are comfy and fashionable

I have never been a fashion queen, but I always have looked nice, I think. I wear comfortable clothes that fit me well and that have some style and color.

Disagree. Just about everything I wear is comfortable. And, I don't dress like a slob but I have taken the time to try on a lot of different things and find brands and styles that fit me well that are also comfortable. The only thing that I think is hard to find is comfortable heeled shoes, but it's not impossible. I mainly wear flat boots, flats, or sandals anyway.

I won't wear uncomfortable clothes...unless I'm in someone's wedding. Then, the bride gets to say what is worn.

Since breaking my tibia and fibula, I have trouble with high heels, but I will wear them occasionally.

As I age, I care less about the latest trends but I think my clothes are all still socially acceptable. I think, other than shoes, I've found a good balance between comfort and fashion.

With the shoes, I generally sacrifice fashion for comfort. While my shoes aren't ugly, there are definitely shoes I would prefer to wear if they didn't bother my leg/ankle.

I think you can definitely wear clothing that is both comfortable and attractive.
Being fashionable isn't about being attractive though but fitting a mold. A lot of times fashionable clothes are not comfortable.
If people who are deemed important in the public eye wear something others will copy them and "everyone" will wear the same clothes to fit in and look popular or important too. If the trend is that women wear tight corsets and 50 necklaces then that would be fashionable at the moment even if it were painful, inconvenient, or not attractive. If the trend was that everyone was wearing comfortable clothes then that would be what was fashionable at the moment.

I disagree but I guess it depends on what you consider fashion. The mini skirts and short shorts and low cut/high cut stuff that are in now I don't consider comfortable nor do I consider them fashionable. I try to always dress nicely and look my best but I also want to be dressed appropriately and most of the stuff I see in fashion magazines doesn't fit that designation.

Lay aside life-harming heaviness and entertain a cheerful disposition.

I notice when I am skinny I choose fashion over comfort and love to shop. But when I am as overweight as I am now. I choose comfort, I don't re-apply my makeup etc. when i am the weight that I am now. emoticon

When I was young fashion over comfort but not to a huge extent, but now comfort always. I remember when young pants felt tight but looked great ,now I am fashionably comfortable.

looking nice doesn't have to be uncomfortable. You can most certainly have both. Sure, I have some super comfy 'lounge around the house' type stuff, but I can't say that any of my clothes are uncomfortable. If they are, they go in the 'donate' pile.

I do have some stilettos that I wouldn't wear to go Krogering, but they are fine otherwise

creating your own sense of style and blending what your comfortable with what is in fashion ...is my motto.
