I take organic apple cider vinegar in warm water first thing each morning. Not for weight loss, but for the health benefits.

I believe it has detox qualities but I don't believe it to have any other benefit for a diet. Just my opinion. My mother is a fan of it but she just likes the taste......ewwww....

I have not tried the diet but Dr. Oz recommends a tsp of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water before bed to control blood sugar. I am starting today.

I tried this years ago. I did lose weight at the time, but I think it had more to do with my food choices than with the vinegar.

Apple cider vinegar

add chopped cabbage
maybe some finely julienned jicama
a goodly grind of some black pepper
a skosh of mustard
a dollop of horseradish

I could eat that every day.

When I'm lazy, I just use that Mann's Rainbow Salad. Sooo crunchy.

What is vinegar with The Mother? I have never heard of this.

I have heard of this but as one poster said drinking a glass of water will have the same result. I am sure that the vinegar also effects your tastebuds which could result in eating less.

I am sure that all the statements regarding vinegar being good for you are accurate if used in reasonable amounts. However, vinegar can also effect your liver like alcohol.

I think I will stick to move more, eat less.

Interesting to hear it relieved a gallbladder attack.

I don't drink it but I do use it as a final rinse when I wash my hair. My scalp drove me crazy the way it itched after using normal shampoos so I switched to a bar of medicated soap. That fixed the itchy scalp but my hair felt like straw. Apple cider vinegar rinse (only a couple of teaspoons diluted in water) solved the problem. My hair has never felt better, soft and shiny without tons of chemicals.

I have gallstones and every so often I will have a seriously painful attack. I read one night that taking a few tsp of apple cider vinegar with apple juice will ease the pain. So I tried and sure enough 15-20 minutes later I was feeling practically all better. So now whenever I feel a twinge in my gallbladder I shoot some apple cider vinegar. This has been for maybe the last 6 months (and I use braggs as was posted below) and I haven't noticed a correlation between weight loss and drinking vinegar. Also it's not so bad, I just drink it straight. It almost tastes good to be honest.

I drink it every day - 1 -2 tablespoons with stevia mixed in it. You can use honey if you want. Cures anything you've got just about. Love it!

It's both a myth and a little bit of truth. Apple cider vinegar doesn't do anything for weight loss... but liquid does and ritual does. Drinking a glass or cup of anything right before a meal does two things:
1) makes you slow down and think about the fact that you're about to have a meal, so you're forcing yourself into "mindful eating," and
2) fills you up so you eat less

The vinegar thing has the added "benefit" of making you fuss with measuring and mixing, which slows you down even more. But really, if you're going to do the "drink X before a meal to make you eat less" trick, the best thing is supposedly tomato juice. It's very filling and nobody chugs it down, so it really increases both effects. There's actual research on this, and the benefit is small but statistically significant. Tomato soup has an even stronger effect because it's so much slower to eat-- if I remember right, it made people eat something like 100 calories less. Of course, with a tomato product you have to watch out for the sodium.

I swear that "diet" used to be around when i was in my 20's or even earlier...

Vinegar has no mystical properties that will make any measurable impact on one's weight loss efforts (not even the vinegar with The Mother).

Goal 1 - break 200 (46 pounds lost)**DONE**
Goal 2 - leave obesity behind (BMI 29.9, at 185#) **DONE**
Goal 3 - BMI = Normal (154# or less)

Has anyone heard of this before/tried it? I have been told 1-3 tsp of apple cider vinegar before each meal helps you to shed pounds by crazy amounts. Has anyone had any experience with this or proof that it's credible or not? Apple Cider Vinegar is gross to shot, but if it helps with weight loss? I dunno, it just sounds too good to be true.
