I tried many of the pills years ago, I am not a fan. However, I did find some supplements to aid in fat loss and I love them. I only take them for about 4-6 weeks once or twice a year, they are: Green Tea Extract, Yohimbe, CLA and L-Carnitine.

I am not a fan of supplements in the form of weight loss pills, tried them decades ago and quickly regretted their negative impact on my health.

I do like RTD protein shakes as quick snacks, especially a line of low carb shakes that have real coffee in them and taste like Starbucks. I don't drink coffee normally or go to Starbucks much but I do enjoy these shakes.

Bout covers it as far as supplements for moi. emoticon

The products you mentioned, and most other "diet pills," all have the same main ingredient: caffeine. Sometimes they list it under three or four different names in the same product, but it's just caffeine. Caffeine actually can boost metabolism-- by about 10 calorie a day for about two weeks, IF you have never had caffeine before. But most of us already have too much of a tolerance to caffeine for it to make even that tiny amount of difference.

If you really think one of these products would help, make your own. Drink a cup of coffee or strong tea. Both of those drinks have some antioxidants as well as the caffeine, and most importantly, you'll know how much caffeine you're getting. One of the problems with supplements is that there are no laws regulating how they're made or what's in them. One pill might have ten times more caffeine than another pill in the same bottle. You could take it for months with no effects, and then suddenly have insomnia and heat palpitations without knowing why.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I am not really looking for something to happen over night, I am not so naive to think that that is what will happen. I was just looking to help out with the weight loss. I am working out and working on the eating healthier (more veggies and fruit, i know!!!!!) and also I have been trying to up my water intake. I am taking the steps, I was just curious if those other "helpers" would actually help! Thanks again for all the advice.

I agree with the postings, veggies, hard work, persistence and a good medical check up are the secrets. But it is tempting, we want the overnight version of success. But that isn't reality. I didn't get this way overnight, and it will take more than a day to get healthy.

It felt like I was not moving, but I guess I was. Even turtles eventually move from place to place. chris

For one thing, "natural" means NOTHING, it is what companies use to draw in the nieve people out there trying to lose weight fast or think they are getting "healthy" by using "natural" stuff. Everything is "natural", really, there is no set amount that is natural. It's a gimmick word, same as those products that use fitness MODELS and lie that the model lost weight using that product when it's not true at all. Don't fall for this stuff people, gee whiz, they have been doing this since at least the 1950's, for heaven's sakes. What part of eat less and move more don't we understand??

When I first saw my Dietitian and gave her a few printouts from the SP Nutrition Tracker to see what and how much I was eating, she was immediately able to diagnose my problem with trying to lose weight. She suggested that I talk with my Dr about a weight-loss product, to see if I was a candidate. I wasn't because of 2 medications I was (am) on. It also turned out that these products contained milk products - I am Dairy Food intolerant and can only consume little amounts on an occasional basis. It turned out that I didn't need this supplement, anyway. She adjusted my calories instead and the weight-loss started to come off. It was a steady drop - it took 16 months to lose the first 50lb. It was slow, but guess what??? I have reached my goal after having been overweight for about 30 years, on an already very healthy diet, and an already healthy calorie range - it just wasn't a range that was suitable for me :-(

As far as the weight-loss product was concerned, it was NOT a pill - it was a balanced meal replacement for weight-loss.

With regard to the energy - you get that from balanced food - eating quality protein (not from processed meat); eating plenty of fruit and veges; ensuring you are well hydrated; ensuring that you eat all of your meals; ensuring that you don't UNDER-eat; ensuring that you get regular exercise, and ensuring that you get at least a day off a week from exercise! Then of course, ensuring you get enough sleep, also is important.

Sometimes all it takes is patience and determination for the success to eventuate!

Kris

If there was a pill that helped a person lose weight, we'd all be thin. While every single "pill" claims to help a person lose weight, the problem is that they don't help a person KEEP the weight off. And that's the real Holy Grail when it comes to losing weight. It's not taking the weight off, it's keeping it off.

Don't buy the claims, they're just that, claims. If the pill really work, we wouldn't have an obesity problem in America. The fact is, unless you have some type of medical condition that inhibits your ability to lose, weight loss is nothing more than a byproduct of a healthy lifestyle. If you eat right, watch your portions and get some regular exercise, the weight will come off on its own.

No pills or gimics necessary, just good old fashioned hard work. Everyone wants the easy way out and there just isn't one.

What are your thoughts on weight loss supplements? Like hydroxycut or even more natural types like the green tea/coffee pills and stuff like that? Are they worth it? Do they help? are the worthless? Just wondering if there was something I can do to give me that extra push with energy and all that. An extra edge if you will. Or just I toss those thoughts aside???!!
