At the beginning of this journey I would be low on the protein range so I found "Premier Protein" drink with 30 grams protein and only 1 gram carbs. It helped until I rediscovered low fat cottage cheese and learned how wonderful 0% Fage Greek yogurt stick blender with frozen pineapple emoticon yum! Hang in there. It gets easier as we learn.

Skinny taste better than butter!

Wow lots of great ideas! Thanks for sharing. I hadn't thought about adding cottage cheese -- but I bet that would be good, as would many of the other suggestions too. Like pinon nuts, etc. YUM.
It's basically just spaghettic squash with roasted mushrooms, and pesto added to it. Very yummy, but not real high in protein. Can't wait to try some of these!

The cottage cheese idea is one I use. Sometimes I put it in the food processor and add some parm, salt and garlic. When added to spaghetti type stuff it makes a creamy layer.

Hemp hearts are easy and tasty and you can sprinkle them on top or add them right in to a recipe like that. They are really high in protein and the protein is extremely digestable.

Also, not sure where you are, but here in Canada, we have a product called Yves Veggie Ground Round. Basically, you'd find it (or something like it) in the vegetarian-deli section of a grocery store and it is a soy-based protein product made to simulate ground beef. I actually like it especially in sauces as it takes on the flavour of whatever it's in.

Black bean brownies (flourless) taste like chocolate cake but are a good source of fiber and protein.

1 tin of black beans rinsed and drained
4 eggs (or 3/4 cup egg whites)
3 Tbsp oil
Puree all above ingrediants together in a blender until smooth.
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 cup sugar
4 Tbsp cocoa
Add these to the blender until mixed.
9x9 greased pan. 350 for 30 minutes.

I have joy in my soul and joy in my step. Walk with me! Justyna

Cheese (cottage cheese is a good suggestion, I always use cottage cheese in my pastas), plain Greek yogurt and/or egg whites.

You could try adding beans, or maybe cottage cheese? I would have to look at the ingredients to see if they went with the recipe. I have made some italian recipes that taste really good with the cottage cheese added in.

Is it wrong to fight time, to turn it back or push it forward? Time was never mine.

So I have this really yummy spaghetti squash mushroom pesto recipe, that I would like to add more protein too (but not meat). Not a huge bean fan -- any other ideas?
