I use sugar free flavored syrups. I get mine at Sam's but I'm sure they sell them in other places. Also SF creamer = 15 cal per Tbsp. Full sugar creamer = 30 cal + per Tbsp. I've used store brand and name brand and they all taste the same to me.

I love coffee myself and have been a coffee lover for about 15 years. I quit drinking soda (pop) about 10 years ago, but I don't think I'll ever quit the coffee. Give me 100% Columbian, Kona or Jamaica Blue Mountain and I'm in coffee heaven!

This was the winter that coffee became my "need to have"! I just felt warmed from the inside out! emoticon
Now I'm enjoying a homemade iced coffee brew. It's 80 degrees outside. emoticon

To answer the question, coffee is decaffeinated by different methods but either way something is being removed from the bean (caffeine), and during the processing, some taste is usually lost too. I bought the DD decaf and it tasted OK to me, but I'd rather regular. I expect it varies by brand.

My current job with early commute has turned me into a daily coffee drinker. I look forward to starting my small pot first thing when I get to work. Can do without sugar or sweetener, and I use a lot less white stuff than I used to, but gotta have at least a little! emoticon

I do not care much for coffee. I use to drink maybe 2 cups a week and one day realized that I wasn't even drinking that. Started drinking tea and that pushed coffee off my grocery list !!! emoticon

OH YEAH, I'll take mine black, no sugar. Better yet, double espresso.

emoticon emoticon

I did a Team Spark Challenge last month where I went a week with no caffeinated drinks at all (no soda or coffee). Since I don't drink soda, I just switched over to decaf coffee. Didn't seem to go through any withdrawal symptoms, but I did miss my morning jolt.

My preferred brand is Dunkin Donuts. They've been in my area (NE) from when I was growing up so they are an old and dear friend of mine.

One cup every morning. I get cranky without it while I surf the computer. We grind our own coffee from the San Francisco brand we buy at Costco. No sugar -- just a little 2% milk. When we are on the road, Starbucks or some other reputable "good" coffee shops or cafes.

You asked if coffee can be addictive? Yes, definitely. I love it, but I would recommend trying NOT to develop a habit of drinking it every day. Some people who develop a strong habit will get physically ill if they have to miss it one day. That can happen even if you only drink one or two cups.

If you're concerned about the health aspects, be sure to read the label on your creamer. Most of them have partially hydrogenated oil of some sort, which means there's some trans fat. You'll want either to find a brand without, or switch to milk or cream. IMO, whole milk with a drop of vanilla extract is a fine substitute for vanilla creamer. If the texture isn't right, try evaporated milk, or add a little dry milk powder along with the liquid milk. You'll be getting a teeny-tiny bit of protein, calcium, and various vitamins that creamer doesn't have, as well. Probably not enough to really make a difference, but still it's whole food instead of empty calories.

Ohmygosh the coffee thread went political!

Well I will thank those that brought up the Starbucks matter, for bringing it to my attention; I had missed this little dust up. And now I have caught up on recent events...

I think it is important to note that the Starbucks CEO did not say "anyone who is against same sex marriage should sell their shares" - he was addressing a very specific group, with a very specific agenda (including encouraging a boycott of Starbucks unless STARBUCKS changed its anti-discriminatory stance). In response to this group's assertion that Starbucks' position on gay rights was "hurting sales and costing the company business" the CEO responded with "If you feel, respectfully, that you can get a higher return than the 38 per cent you got last year, itís a free country," Schultz said. "You can sell your shares of Starbucks and buy shares in another company. Thank you very much."

I don't typically drink Starbucks but I will raise a glass and salute the CEO who put "what he believes in" above "the almighty dollar." You don't see that at a corporate level very often, and it doesn't matter whether one agrees or disagrees with his beliefs, you just have to give the guy props.

Good morning to you too. I'm sitting here with my laptop and my fave cup with my black coffee too. My fave is Hazelnut, but I tend to switch back and forth. We should have a Spark Team of coffee drinkers. I sometimes buy the Dunkin' Donut brand from our local grocery store. Otherwise, I can get some great coffee through a local vending company. I don't like Folgers at all. And I just drink mine black. I don't like adding any extra calories to my cup and just like to enjoy the full flavor of the coffee. Right now I'm sipping on Caramel Vanilla Cream and it is delish! What a way to start the day emoticon

Firecom, I just read your comment...and I'm not sure what it has to do with this thread. I for one support that CEO's stand against discrimination...as I'm sure many people here on SP do.

I'm sorry you allow your politics to get in the way of your Sparking.

To answer your question, coffee is in fact addicting. Caffeine is one of the most addictive substances. On the plus side, if you stop drinking it, the withdrawal symptoms are fairly mild...headaches, crankiness and such.

As someone said before, watch the creamers and sugar. The low calorie non-dairy creamers are filled with all manner of crap that your body will definitely be better off without. I prefer soy or almond milk with my coffee. They have a natural sweetness, and actually have a bit of nutritional benefit to them.

I really love my coffee and the bolder the better. Starbucks has been my favorite but since they told their stockholders that if you don't support same sex marriage, you are not welcome. This is not a comment on same sex marriage, it is a comment on just how stupid some folks can be when the CEO says something that can alienate such a large portion of its customer base.

I enjoy coffee, but have to drink decaf or I get to feeling aggravated a while after drinking the regular. I am not an everyday coffee drinker. My last coffee was Friday morning. I like my coffee black, but sometimes will add a bit of creamer. I do not buy a specific brand. I do love the flavored coffees, and right now I have toasted coconut, and butter rum in my pantry. I love coffee with my waffles that have peanut butter and honey on them , in fact that will be my breakfast today, so today is coffee day.

Just keep an eye on the sugar and creamer. Coffee was one of those things that was sneaking a LOT of extra calories into my life without me really noticing (i mean, it's just coffee, right? there's no calories in that!)... but when the cream and sugar add up to 50 or more calories per cup... and you start having more than 1-2 cups.... yeah you can blow your calorie range really easily...

Good morning how are ya?!

I am considered a happy up going person. Very rarely I am down, but this last week I have been on a new kick... COFFEE.......

I was never a coffee drinker, but I was a huge, huge pop drinker ( No more)
I then was only tea, milk or water..

I was sooo bored one day I just decided to have a taste of the left over cofee (still hot) after my hubby left for work... MAN, I kinda liked it!! The taste was really weird for me, but I did find I woke up just a bit better.. knowing this came from natural beans and it is a natural food, I decided to start drinking it on a daily basis..

This week I have added sugar and then a coffee creamer.. I really love the french vanilla..

Ok, This is weird for me because now I love starting my day with sparks and coffee LOL

Is coffee addicting?

Do you like coffee, if so what brand or does brands not matter?
How do you like yours?

Right now we use Folgers Medium ( I am not even sure what the light, medium, dark really mean anyway LOL)

But I am now considered a coffee drinker!! Not sure if this is bad or good yet though LOL
One a cup so far a day, but today I am on my second cup LOL
