After a brief search on the internet on Dyslexia it's mostly associated with an impairment of reading (do a search for the exact definition if you're interested). I had known three people in my life who I would consider as having HEARING dyslexia,....I know, weird, right?
Here's a general example:
Me: "Hey dude, that was an awesome shot from the tee."
My friend: "What!? My swing sucks? I can't hit the ball from the tee right?"
No sarcasm, no yanking my chain, not dry humor at work. Just an honest to goodness hearing the meaning of what was said in reverse.
Here's an example from last night to my gf:
Me: "Wow! You look great!"
Her: "What? I look terrible?
I once told my friend from high school when he got first chair in the trumpet section that he I knew he'd get it because he was the best, his reply shocked me, "What!? I got last chair because I suck?"
Is it really hearing the meaning of what was said backwards or is it a strange display of low self-esteem?
It is not okay for an alcoholic to get drunk once in a while.
So do not tell a food addict it is okay to eat like sh*t once in a while
