You are not alone, it's a "tradition" for people to start over, right after Memorial Day weekend, on many of the boards I've been on for 10 yrs. The next start over doesn't come until after Labor Day weekend, and then, it's after Halloween, and then after Thanksgiving. That's the way the ball bounces, not trying to be funny at all.

Plan for tomorrow, but enjoy the heck out of today.

hi, this is my second time starting over. the first time i felt so depressed and guilty but i got up and got back on track. seems like i tell myself it is ok to eat a little extra when it's my birthday or going on vacations. yet i am still conscious to what i should or should not have. plus, i do not keep track of my daily intake and exercise during celebratory events. so here i am again, starting over.....but feeling less guilty because i know i can start over; not giving up.
i did write down what i consumed and exercises i did; so i am going back to last week and enter my tracks in the SP tracker. i will set my goal for today to download SP on my cell phone. NO MORE EXCUSES then. thanks to my SP supporters. emoticon

Thank you SIMPLYME--Your story is so inspiring to me--because at 52 years old I have been told the same thing!! It just makes me more determined when someone looks at me and tells me I can't do it--I am still hanging in there and making small changes--I got up and worked out first thing this morning ( that is just one good habit I am getting into) anyway I am rambling--Thanks again for the words of encouragement and I admire you so much for what you have accomplished!!! emoticon

Good for you - the right attitude is a big step in the right direction. I too have started over and over a few times since the beginning of the year. I can do better but I try not to overload myself with too many "changes" at one time. I have find for me if I go into this too gung ho I am more likely to fail. If I do a few small tweaks at a time, I adjust better. You have to do what works for you and only you.

Good luck and God Bless you on your journey. emoticon

I started over a few times. Could never "get it right', either a failed plan or life would slap me in the face. Sometime at my age (60) I would be told to give up because I was to old to lose and be happy the way I am! Not! Know what, I found what works for me and I'm losing and so Can You! Keep up the good work!

Its not exercise, its going outside to play!

Congratulations on re-committing to a healthy lifestyle. We all have to "start over" ocassionally.

But can I make one friendly suggestion?

If you read the Spark People material, they suggestion that you not try to make too many changes all at the same time. Take "baby steps" to your long-term lifestyle goals. Just pick one or two to focus on during the first week or two. Once you have conquered those changes and incorporated them into your usual habits, tackle one or two more changes. You'll be more likely to stick with the changes that way.

If you make a lot of changes at once, you are more likely to feel deprived and/or unhappy with your new lifestyle -- and not stick with them. Going a little slower in the beginning may give you the best chance of getting where you want to be in the long run.

Good luck to you!

Hi TCCAGLE. I could have written that exact comment you wrote. This time I'm determined to do it RIGHT. I'm counting calories, not cheating on weekends just because it's the weekend and I felt I got a free pass for doing so well during the week. I'm exercising 6 days out of the week, watching what goes into my mouth, and really caring about myself this time. I'm determined to be healthy and stay healthy. We do have those challenges but it's a great feeling to conquer those issues and move forward and not look back. We all learn from our mistakes and can still pick ourselves up and continue forward. You are strong and you can do it
!! Good luck to you.

emoticon emoticon . I started over at the start of this year. Gained 17# over the Holiday season last year because I got lazy. Keep at it. You know how this works take small steps, start with one or two realistic goals then, try a few more...Be strong and be good to yourself.

We ALL have to start over--repeatedly! Life is a journey, and the road isn't flat & straight...lots of hills & valleys & twists & turns!

YOU CAN DO IT! All anyone can do is take it one bite, one meal, one day at a time. Exercise, eat better, try, try, try!

You're here--and you'll make it happen! I believe in YOU! :)

It Is What It Is.... :)

Hello Spark Friends: I have been on Spark People since January of this year but haven't been doing good at all!! So I am starting over and making changes that I feel will help me with my weight loss, starting with working out when I wake up and controlling my eating on weekends instead of overdoing it "just because it is the weekend" and planning meals for the day and sticking to it and cutting way down on portions and eating a lot of veges and fruits and low carb/ high protein foods for supper and nite time snack--and no food 3 hrs before bedtime--

Just smiling goes a long way towards making you feel better about life--Your life will be better-With a optimistic, positive attitude towards life, the possibilities for your second prime are tremendous--
