OMG! I am with you! I would have stayed away. One piece leads to another for me and many others. If I don't have the first one, I don't have to worry about the second, the third or any others!

Good job!

Oops! a stumbling block. It's how you handle the situation that matters. Do you make a large salad with lots of veges, have one piece, and document your meal? It's your choice. We all face decisions like that often. At work, out for dinner, lunch with friends, parties, etc. With each one we learn.

I launched a counterattack. I cook for myself the BEST healthy foods that I love, and make extra if anyone else wants. Any SP recipe that gets a lot of "5" ratings is definitely on my next shopping list. I also love SkinnyMs.com's chicken chili and some of her other ones. Allrecipes.com usually has a "healthy option" alternate for everything, with nutrional info. Now DH calls me every day and offers to pick something up, but when I tell him what I'm making, he says 'that sounds really good' and comes straight home instead. I admit it's extra work for me, but I'd rather be cooking than pining over what's in the fridge (or coming in the door) that I'm better off not having.

A husband who comes home with a pizza on day 2 of your plan seriously deserves to wear it.

Yes, enjoy a piece and maybe make up some salad. And enjoy! It also helps to remind them on occasion what you are trying to do. Sometimes, they forget!

Great suggestion, Patty. I will try this sometime this week. I also do the same with slices of eggplant. Great and almost no kcals.

I make my husband and I pizza using those Tandori flat breads (one for each of us), and I pile them high with tomatoes, onions, peppers, mushrooms and a low fat cheese -- they are delicious, and they satisfy the need for pizza. We can each have a whole one to ourselves for under 300 to 400 calories. With a salad, it works great.

Since you are so conscious of losing weight and watching your diet now, you will find that fattening foods are all around you. Just stay diligent and refuse all those high-fat, high-calories foods and stick with what you need to eat. Before long, those around you will stop trying to test your will or sabotage your efforts. Maybe you can include your husband in those healthy meals you are making for yourself. He can just eat more of the foods you serve if he doesn't need to calorie count.

Stay on the trail!

emoticon I'm a pizzaholic! Friday nights are pizza night in our house... but funny thing happened last night... Not sure if it was just me, but the pizza tasted terrible. We always order the same thing from the same place and I always allow myself one piece. I actually spit out the first bite and said "I'm not going to waste my calories on something that doesn't even taste good"... if you know me, this is not normal! Usually I would eat it and then eat something else because I was unsatisfied. This was a huge accomplishment for me!
Next time we have pizza in the house I am going to remind myself of how awful it tasted last night & make myself something healthy instead!

Our wonderful families don't always know how or want to support to us in weight loss/healthy life journeys. Sometimes it's because we didn't tell them how they can help. For example, please don't bring food home unless you have asked me about it. Or they are afraid our changes won't be good for them. Example, "great, now it's only going to be salads forever" or "if she gets skinny she won't want me anymore".

Sometimes it's habit. Friday night is pizza night. Why wouldn't we have pizza? We always have pizza.

It's funny. I used to love pizza. Now store made pizza is too greasy and upsets my stomach.
Home made is okay but there are many other things I like better.

I'm constantly telling myself : "NO! you'll regret it!"; when it comes to junk food like that.

I only allow myself a treat like once or twice a month; and even then, I still watch my portions!

Good for you for not giving in. I always seem to convince myself that hey you look good and you are so close to goal so just go ahead and indulge and maybe that is exactly WHY I can't get to goal.

Great willpower!

Just have one slice, or two tops...and do NOT allow yourself to eat the leftovers the next day! I tell myself, when eating junk foods, it's a "one shot deal"--one meal ONLY....and then, back at it! :)

I'll take a slice from YOUR half, Suz. The only fruit I want on my pizza is tomatoes!

we do the same thing - whole wheat thin crust with our own toppings; Canadian bacon or a Morningstar patty cut into small pieces for the meat and LOTS of vegetables.

We're having pizza tonight for dinner, but I'm making it for us. I purchase a ready-made, thin crust, whole wheat and we put what we like on it. I make my own pizza sauce and the only kind of meat we will put on it would be Canadian bacon. Otherwise, we pretty much keep it a veggie pizza. I'm going to surprise my hubby with making half of it his fave (Canadian Hawaiian). Yup! You got it! I'm putting on that wonderful pineapple. I'll have the red onion, fresh mushroom, spinach, black olives, & mozzarella cheese on the other half. You can't go wrong when you make your own. Yummers! emoticon

good job!

I had to undergo a similar spouse-induced "apple fritter challenge" on about Day 2 or 3 of my New Lifestyle... it felt good to make my own plan (not to eat it) and stick to that plan. There will be pizza that you PLAN for, another day.

because YOUR change does not equal HIS change.

DH is pretty good about not bringing foods home that he knows tempt me, but every once in a while it happens.

look at it this way - you are always going to have those tests. Practice makes perfect. So every time you have to make those choices, you get a little bit stronger.
