I recently hit a plateau. I was drinking less water, so I am increasing it. Next I will look at food as I may need to increase due to increased exercise. If that doesn't work, I will change up my exercise.

Life is for living!

Depends on what I've been doing before the plateau.

Not sure... I have been burning lots of calories and I haven't been eating as much as they recommended... some days it's like 3000 cal. The most i will eat is 1800-2000 max. Putting in a rest day to snap my body out of it. I'm on the 3rd day of this plateau and actually weighed a bit more this morning. I think it's my body keeping water to heal my muscles from all the weight lifting. My theory anyways.

Never giving up! I CAN do this. I WILL do this. I AM doing this!

I think I blame my exercise routine when I don't continue to lose weight. I'm either not exercising intensely enough or my body gets too comfortable, and I need to switch it up.

For me when I plateau its time to re-evaluate my program. Kind of a mini-overhaul. That usually gets me back on track. emoticon

I don't really blame either one. It's usually my overeating, which isn't really the food's fault.

Neither. I blame myself for not reevaluating my diet and exercise regimen and not having made necessary adjustments in order to get off the plateau.

For me, it is always food. Sometimes exercise, but in terms of having stepped up the exercise level. For whatever reason, if I work out very hard, the next few days I don't lose weight at all, even when the food is at a level where I should. I'm sure there are water/inflammation reasons for that. But if it is a real plateau that lasts longer than a week or two, it is always food. Either I am eating more sweets than I should, or else my choices have remained static, even if low, and my body got used to it.

I do like the idea of changing it up - shock the body out of adaptation. I like that I probably would have survived crossing the plains with my ancestors because my body so dislikes letting go of food storage, but in order to lose that food storage on purpose, I have to constantly change the routine.

When I plateau, I re-evaluate my food intake, exercise routine, stress levels, and sleep. I don't really "blame" anything. I just try to do better in an area that I feel I can improve.

I just figure a plateau is a biological adjustment, and since my eating plan has served me so far, let it carry me on. Add in a bit more exercise and just think a bit about nutritional adjustments. Anything can be tweaked.

Got rid of the ticker cuz my scale decided to flatter me unduly. I haven't re-gained, just got a better, honest, scale.

Just because you steam it, doesn't mean you can't add herbs and spices. (A gripe at those insipid restaurant "healthy choice" menu selections.)

for me its indicates insufficient strength training as I'm fairly consistent about documenting what and how much I eat and I struggle with doing ST even once a week and never with great intensity

playing the blame game doesn't do any good for me - so I just re-evaluate what I have or have not been doing and get back on track where I see I have been failing and do better for myself. Which is what I am doing right now that the Summer is almost over, kids are back in school (or soon to be ) and work a little harder. I have somehow managed to put on a couple lbs over this Summer and need to take that right back off and get into the weight loss mode again. hugs, Cheryl

Broke through my plateau and now I am at another plateau and holding for several months.

I don't blame food or exercise. Although I do think there are some foods that don't agree with me. Some call them "reactive foods" - - like dairy, breads...
