Spark people has really changed my life. I used to love sauces on things, the more the better. Adding twice the salad dressing was normal, and I used to just laugh it off when my wife chided me about it. Now when I look at my meal and see how much the sauce or dressing was, I just rather do without!
Twice the protein and half the sauce!
Eating out has become a disadvantage. I would now rather cook the meals so I know what is in them. And sugar, carbs like refined pasta and white bread, and empty calories in general are leaving my cabinets and not being replaced!
I am even starting to like Kale, which I thought would never happen. Spinach I love, even broccoli, but Kale? Yeah its going into my smoothies and covered with blueberries! Ha!
And why the change? Because I feel great! And I am finally loosing weight, which I have kept on for 30 years...

I grew out of sugary cereals, full fat dairy & mayonnaise. I've always loved vegetables, but grew into expanding that love to include brussel sprouts, lentils and lima beans.

I have found that after being pregnant, my tastebuds changed ALOT. Things I used to love, I am now disgusted by, and things I couldn't stand before are now ok.

I think our tastebuds do change. (I also grew out of food allergies I used to have too.)

For a long time I hated olives, but I've developed quite a fondness for them recently. (I love a good fruits, veg & olives plate). The fact that I like something now that I didn't used to like gives me hope that someday I'll be able to eat another dread veg: raw tomato. (I cannot stand them, I have to have the cooked a bit or at least pickled a little, like in salsa).

As I"ve learned about nutrition, I now avoid many foods I used to eat. There are many vege.'s and grains I find hard to digest (i.e., corn, wheat...). Tomatoes also cause upset stomach for me.

At 12, I made the choice to stop drinking soda and eating chips because I was becoming overweight. I haven't really liked those things since!

Since joining SP, foods I've "grown" out of are large portions of potatoes, rice, pasta. Now, I know that I only need a little bit on my plate & I will still feel satisfied.

Foods I've "grown" into cottage cheese, lentils, salads and eating more fish!

As a kid I remember loving captain crunch. I tried it recently and was so grossed out by that film it leaves on the roof of your mouth and throat. That's not a breakfast choice, it's a terrible, awful junk food.
I am growing to like avocados. For years I couldn't stand the taste of them (it's not exactly something I grew up with in the house) but by mixing them into things I enjoy I'm getting used to the flavour. Now my new favourite pasta sauce has an avocado base. I still don't think I quite like it enough to eat slices of it plain, but I really like it in things.

Anything fried is what I've grown out of. Too much fat and grease. If I have to eat anything grease laden, I take a napkin and absorb as much grease out if it as I can.

as kids we were forced to eat turnip, and I wouldn't for a very long time, but now I eat it cooked and raw.
I never ate onions at all till I was diagnosed with diabetes at 44, and now, I eat them raw or cooked too.
Wish, I could grow out of loving ice cream!!

I never liked beets, asparagus, spinach or brussels sprouts as a kid...love them, now!! The one I've never been able to abide? Mushrooms. I've tried, I just can't...
I also finally 'grew out' of my nut allergy, so I'm able to eat almonds!! :-)

I've pretty much grown off soda, the taste doesn't really appeal to me any more, I'm drinking more water than anything else. and I'm really grown into fruits and vegetable, for some reason especially spinach and tomatoes.

One day at a time.

slowly pulling away from meat and eating only veggies . Its not forced anymore. I don't want it. Sometimes the smell will get m e but when I give in it doesn't taste as good as I thought I remembered it tasting. I love all kinds of beans.

emoticon when I was small I was big on sweets..mostly chocolate...slowly but surely before I started dieting I really pulled away from it and not bc it's obviously bad for you but I just didnt care for it anymore...same with pop. I drink barely ANY pop at all mostly water, teas and juice....and if I do drink pop its ONLY clear pops like 7-up, sierra, ginger ale..NO brown pops. and i think my favs now are veggies...I always ate them but now I LOVE brussel sprouts, broccoli and cauliflower...mmmmm

I love food, so can't say I've "out grown" anything. Can definitely say that I'm more aware of those choices!

That said, I've grown into eating many vegetables I wouldn't eat as a teenager. My favourite and biggest transformation being red peppers!

I find that the white foods are hard to let go of, but I have found myself making fewer casseroles with lots of cheese, butter and gravy-type sauces. I used to love mashed potatoes and gravy....now I would prefer baked potatoes with seasoned salt and greek low-fat yogurt. Works great as substitute for all of the calories in mashed potatoes.

And what is it about watermelon? I have a problem with it too. I get queasy if I eat anymore than a couple bites. I like it a lot, but the same thing happens every time I eat it.

Keep a sense of humor. Remember, laughing burns calories too!

Only thing I've really grown out of is watermelon - one time ate too much, haven't like it since... on the other hand, I love to cook or bake and entertain guests so I have a wide variety of foods I prepare for them - I have grown into variety - so many more things that can be made than were/are available in a box/bag. Even have my own heavy duty grinder/sausage stuffer, and a nice smoker - (try smoked carrots sometime - they are delish!)

Found out that I do like lentils and spinach...as long as it isn't canned...

"White" or "Beige" foods no longer do it for me. I used to be a Midwestern Carb Queen but now I'm eating waaay more vegetables. My husband is a southerner who grew up on vegetable plates so luckily he is a good green-eater; I don't have to plead with him to eat healthy stuff.

I see some of the casseroles my friends back home post on Pinterest and they make me kind of ill to look at them now, lol!

Have patience with all things, but chiefly have patience with yourself. Do not lose courage in considering your own imperfections, but instantly set about remedying them- every day begin the task anew. - St. Francis de Sales

Kale.. I didn't used to like it but now I'll even have it fresh in salads.. When I first started eating it, I had to cook it to get rid of how crunchy it is raw.

This is my experience....I'm drinking less coffee and more green tea. My tummy feels better -- and I'm beginning to listen to my body.

Change is inevitable. Progress is optional.
