Even though I still can't believe it, I've grown out of coffee in the past few mos. I've replaced it with tea, but overall and drinking much less caffeine. I just don't enjoy the taste of a cup of coffee anymore...

Love this topic! I have grown out of lots of bad foods! I am trying to grow into brussel sprouts and turnips, but I am not there yet!

I still sometimes succomb to temptations when they are around, but I'm doing much better. I try to tell myself that I deserve to be healthy and strong and that those treats, even though they may be delicious are trip-wires at my attempts to eat right.

I've grown out of sugary cookies, white sugar, white bread, and and gravies. I no longer eat fried foods except on rare occasions, I don't touch sodas of any sort and I've cut way down on processed meats.

I've grown into more raw vegetables, fruit for dessert, and Greek Yogurt, which I love. I have always loved water, so drinking it at every meal is enjoyable as well as the smart thing to do.

Start each day with a Smile and an expression of Gratitude!

Great topic!
I was pretty picky growing up and money was very tight so I wasn't exposed to a large variety of things...but I've blossomed into an adventurous eater as an adult!

Grown out of:
lots of candies (gummy-chewy-fruity nothings)
Ramen noodles
Chef Boyardee canned pasta/meat
Hamburger Helper (mostly...)
2% milk
Sugary cereals (Fruity Pebbles!)
Butter/margarine
Packaged cakes (Little Debbie was my FAV!!)
Regular Soda
White sandwich bread
Kool-aid
Fried foods

Grown IN to:
Beans
Salad
Salmon
Broccoli
Raw Almonds
Peas
Saurkraut
Zuchini
Skim milk
Wheat bread
Fish

And there's a list of "trying to grow out of/trying to grow into" but...it's too long!

It's so true, FIRECOM -- I tasted some strawberries that were home grown and couldn't believe the difference between them and store-bought. They were so sweet and red to the center and with a big strawberry taste. I'm disappointed in other fruits and veggies, too, these days, particularly tomatoes. I can't wait until mid summer rolls around where we can go pick field riped tomatoes from a local farm here. Raspberries aren't that easy to grow, but as far as other veggies and some fruits, they taste so much better from your own garden.

I can't believe I used to *LOVE* Vienna Sausages. And snack cakes in general. I couldn't tell you the last time I had either.

I love olives now, but when I was a kid I hated them.
And sushi. The first time I ate it I was kinda hesitant, but now I get serious cravings for it, especially with salmon.

My husband has finally gotten on board with tuna. He used to not even like it when I ate it, but now he eats it almost every day for lunch.

Not sure if its just me or have products changed. I used to go nuts for raspberries but when I buy them today, they are bland. I suspect that they were harvested very green and ripened in route.

I grew into tilapia, couscous and white yogurt. Is my all time favorite, I can eat it three times a week. Also honey.
I had grown out of red meat, I occasionally eat it but if I smell raw meat, is not pleasant.

I totally grew into canned salmon. Most people think I'm kind of weird, but I think it's just delicious and it's SO much more nutritious than canned tuna (and just as easy).

I had grown out of pasta completely (went Paleo), but then I got pregnant. Now macaroni and cheese is one of my major cravings!

I've definitely outgrown cow's milk. Growing up, I had a glass of milk with dinner every night. Now I can't even stand it in my cereal; it just tastes "wrong" to me. (I do add almond milk to my cereal.) I also can't eat ham or bacon anymore. They're so salty that they make me gag.

I despised carrots as a child, and although I can tolerate them now, I still don't go out of my way to eat them. I was always a pretty adventurous eater, so I don't think there are many foods I avoided as a kid that my palate has finally grown into.

Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.
I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:
But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a cast away.

I grew out of McDonald's (my nephews can't pass by one without wanting to go to it and they're teenagers now) and into sushi. I generally eat at home more than I did when I was younger. So out of fast food, into homecooking too.

@MYOWNHERO -- That's a novel concept that I've never thought of at a movie theatre! For some reason munching and movies just go hand in hand.

@BILL60 -- As a kid, I would have been in 7th heaven, especially with those tiny Chiclets in the bags.

oh yeah...I LOVE lentils! A former co-worker told me they were a really good source of potassium. I tried some lentil soup and I was hooked!

there is a Mediterranean restaurant we go to at our favorite vacation spot. I tried majadera. OMG. LOVE IT! It's lentils, brown rice, and caramelized onions. Totally amazing. I think I could eat that 3 or 4 times a week.

I have a tendency to "grow out" of food that I eat or am given frequently during a brief period of time. There are a number of cereals and baked goods that I got as a kid that no longer appeal to me at all.

I sometimes feel guilty because when my boys were growing up I hated bananas and seldom bought them, now I can't start my day without a banana. Also, my husband used to love cantalope. I couldn't stand the smell of it and refused for him to bring it in my kitchen. Now, I can't wait until cantalope season ever summer.
I gave up sugar or sugar substitutes and milk or cream in my coffee. I also only drink 1 1/2 to 2 cups per day now whereas I used to drink at least 4-6 every day. I take it black now! I've added hot decaf tea to my evening and morning routine now.

I grew out of baked potato chips, 100 calorie snack packs, skinny cow etc... all the "low cal" substitutes for junk food I loved.
Mostly, I just don't eat the junk anymore, but I find those things listed above just leave me wanting more. SO, if I REALLY want something, I have a reasonable portion, enjoy it and move on.

On the other hand, I am learning to love some things I hadn't tried before such as quinoa, kale, dragon fruit, dates, sweet potatoes... delicious real foods!

I saw an ad for Arby's Beef & Cheddar and felt queasy. Can't believe I ever ate that!

also Varsity chili dogs (a GA thing). I would scarf 2 dogs and an order of rings down easy. Now the just the thought makes me...UGH! As Lewis Grizzard said, chili dogs always bark at night.

and the smell of just about any fried food - GROSS

CIRANDELLA - I guess the time has come to start cooking 2 separate meals, it is hard for me, at least in the respect that when I am home by myself, I don't really cook. ( more of a grazer, handful of grapes, bite of cheese. and so on) However I love cooking for others and have been known to cook up a storm if people are hungry! It has been an experience learning how to cook for 2 ( used to cooking big meals for tons of people) but having letovers not so good for me ( that clean plate club, ugh) My non veggie loving hubz has converted enough to 1) eat and then request a brussels sprouts dish. and then 2) go to the store and buy everything for the recipe, come home and request again. that is what I call a score :P

My palate is pretty diverse, even funnier I am surrounded by people who think a meal should only be meat ( lot of) potatoes ( even more) and the only veggie allowed is corn. how blah. they always look at me crazy when I pull out the kimchi
I had to laugh, as I sauteed swiss chard this morning, topped with a poached egg and chili garlic sauce. :=)
