What has inspired me is that want to live longer and healthier! I have a niece and nephew which I love dearly and want to be around for them in the future! Who does not want to feel good?!

I am greatly inspired by a lot of members here on Sparkpeople. When I first started on my weight loss journey, it seemed so daunting. I starting browsing popular spark blogs and reading success stories. Whenever I was feeling down I would read more success stories and it kept me going. If they could do it, maybe it work for me too. It did work out for me, thanks to support from the people on this website and the tools I still use daily.

Is it wrong to fight time, to turn it back or push it forward? Time was never mine.

Spark People Friends who have followed the program and it has worked for them: exercise now a part of their life, have lost bunches of pounds, are leading more active lives, and loving life. They are definitely an inspiration to me, an assurance that it can be done!

At 24 I had my first child. By the time I gave birth to him I was 270 lbs. I'm 5'5''. I was 205 lbs when I got pregnant. The last month I gained 35 lbs of water weight. I looked at myself after I had my son, and I was like, I can't live like this. How am I going to show him how to be healthy, and eat properly, and live a great lifestyle if I'm big like a house.

He is now 6 months old, im down to 193 lbs, and I want to reach 145lbs. Im smaller then I was before I got pregnant. I eat healthy, Im active every day, and I run around playing with my son in my arms etc. I now play soccer every Friday, Im a soccer Convenor for Under 4 children every Saturday morning, I make all the meals in my house so that everyone eats healthy (I make homemade baby food aswell). This lifestyle change has changed how I feel about myself.

Im starting to see myself in a positive light, but I still have my down days. My motto: Quit Slackin' and Make Sh*t Happen! Its my background on everything. You wont accomplish anything until you put your mind to it.

ALL OF YOU SPARKPEOPLE OUT THERE. You have to do this for yourself. YOU AND ONLY YOU. I did 10,154 steps this morning and just did another 2,000 this afternoon. But that doesn't count. My morning walk does. Between 3:30 am to 4 am I start walking. I need this for me and YOU DO, TOO. GOOD LUCK ON YOUR GOAL'S AND LET'S DO IT. emoticon .

well my inspiration has changed dramatically in the past month. i started back with spark people in january with a vengeance - tracking everything and doing jilliam michael's cds 6 times a week. a month ago i pulled a muscle and pinched a nerve so that i had some shooting pain down my left arm (pretty sure it was the awful plank exercises!). i went in for an xray and they discovered a mass on my lung. i am a nonsmoker, healthy single mother of two young girls post op from having my left upper lung removed and about to start chemo..... my inspiration is always to be healthy to raise my kids.

i am extremely grateful to have been exercising because not only if i hadn't been exercising, i probably would not have caught the cancer in time for a cure, but also that i am so aware that going through any medical problems it REALLY helps to start out as strong as possible.

I am back on and tracking food and exercise - new goals for both - priorities have been turned upside down and i'm not as concerned about that last 5 pounds i had been struggling to lose - now i'm just thankful to be able to track my mile a day on a very slow treadmill and looking forward to one day being able to groan and complain about JM's plank exercises again.

Profound: Losing medical problems as the weight has come off (pre-diabetes, sleep apnea, depression).

Shallow: Being able to wear cuter, trendier clothes.

My inspiration was a negative one-I was taking care of my mother after surgery (from weight-related issues) and realized that I was on the same path. I knew I had to make healthy lifestyles choices or follow that path. Thanks SparkPeople!

Three months ago I felt miserable, Im 51 and my ankles were swelling bad, my body aches constantly, waking up in the morning feeling like crap. I feel like this was a warning, if I kept on down that road the rest of my life would be taking prescriptions and possibly having heart problems. Diabetes is already pretty strong in my family. So, the fact is, I want to enjoy life, I don't want to be in pain, I don't want to die young, I want to enjoy my kids and my hopefully future grand kids. So it was due time that I should start being serious about my health. I absolutely love sparkpeople, I find it so simple to follow ever since I downloaded the ap to track my food and exercise. If anyone wants to be my buddy on here, add me, I love reading your posts.

My best friend, who has recently re-committed to this path as well. I will make healthy choices not only because I deserve it, but because I want to make it easier on her to make the right choices that will get her to her goals.

Also, I recently committed to joining the Canadian Forces. I want to be the best I can be so that I might be able to serve my country to the best of my abilities.

It was about a year ago, right after my second semester of college, that I realized I needed to change my eating habits and my lifestyle. I'm now a sophomore in college, and it was around this time last year that I logged onto Facebook to find a notification that someone had commented on a picture I was in. It was a picture from the summer right after my sophomore year of high school, and there was a group of us at a pool party playing volleyball, all of us wearing bathing suits. For as long as I can remember, in any group of friends I've had I was always the "bigger" girl - tall and husky. So it's safe to say I was appalled by the photo, by how I looked in it. What was even worse was that when I looked in the mirror later that night when I was changing after my shower, I realized I hadn't changed much in the four or five years since that photo was taken. So I decided I needed to buckle down and take on a healthier lifestyle. So far I'm doing pretty good!

I'm just having a great time losing weight. I'm loving getting out of the house to exercise, it's so much better than my old feelings. I appreciate sparkpeople because I used to be in the dark, and felt like trying was futile. Then, when I started using the tools I can see how exercise and eating less are working together with each other. I'm very happy. I love exercise, I love getting stronger and fitter aerobically. I'm happy with how things are going.

My first inspiration was my sister. Each visit to her house she would encourage me (she gained 100 pounds with two pregnancy and lost half of it already, so it was her words and actions). She made me watch The Biggest Looser and would talk about her gym routines. Later I visited my mom and other sister and they would help me get to the gym and keep encouraging.
I have one friend that lost 25 pounds on her adult life and even after having two kids has kept her weight. Another friend is my own age and very active and sport oriented, I find her inspiring.
One of my biggest source of inspiration in my mom, although she has always struggled with her weight I remember her always trying to get healthier and provide us (her children) with opportunities to practice sports and eat healthy.

Perimenopause gave me a present by depositing a 5# basketball in my stomach which, despite many attempts, has refused to budge. I struggle on, working out fairly consistently during the week, but succumbing to mindless eating at night. Despite my "two steps forward, one step backward" approach, I have celebrated recent success such as the best blood test report ever with HDLs actually higher than LDLs. I am not giving up the fight and will win by getting back to the weight I was about 10 years ago.

My inspiration is found from reading the success stories of people on SparkPeople, the love of my husband and my desire to accomplish this goal for me.

It seems like a simple question but I have so much going thru my mind. I want to be around for my son, even though he is now 25, I still want to see all he does and accomplishes. Plus I really want to be healthy. Losing the weight, being more active is a positive and as I get older I can't take for granted the things I did when I was younger. Life inspires me. People here, reading their comments inspire me.

My wife started to jog and when I was seeing the kind of races out there like the Spartan run as a guy I just had to try it. That is what got me started on this road of exercise. Then I started to research other runs and such then started to think about the future with my family. In the end I feel I am inspired by the life style I would like to pass onto my two little girls. I feel doing more and seeing more and being healthier will help them to have a more enjoyable childhood and live a fuller more enjoyable life. More then anything that is what I wish for them and that is what keeps me going. Lead by example!

Unfortunately my inspiration is seeing how my mom has let herself go health wise. I grew up with her always fighting the weight and always on a diet. She never liked to sweat, never liked being outside and never ever liked exercising. She is now in her 80's and she spent the last 20 years of her retirement not doing anything. She showed me by her now being chair bound that I always need to be active. I got the news the other day that the doctors at Mayo said she has lost so much muscle by not doing anything that she will be in a wheel chair. This inspires me.

I can do all things through Christ, because he gives me strength Phil 4:13

I like your outlook towards food and eating ... very inspiring! I landed in the cafe accidently, but I'm glad I did!!

I am inspired by the wealth of healthy food options and searchable recipes. Lately I have been on a soup kick, a slow-cooker kick, a seafood kick, and a healthy muffins for quick morning grabs kick. I keep finding and posting recipes for these things, storing them in cook books, and tracking like crazy.

I didn't exactly get fat by accident. I love food and eating. The recipes inspire me to keep on doing it, but do it better!!
