I am definitely inspired when I find an old pair of slacks that I should have already donated and now they FIT!!
I was also so happy and inspired to really work on maintaining my weight loss when a friend said "you don't need to lose any more weight, you've lost enough". emoticon emoticon

DIET PILLS ? That is a NO-NO. I did that when I was younger and guess what you will gain more. STOP spending the money on those pills and get the nutrients from the basic foods. Don't skip breakfast for that is the most important meal of the day. While eating sip some water that will fill up faster and while you are eating any meal I use a timer to eat my meal. About 20 min. GOOD LUCK ON YOUR GOAL.so let's emoticon do it.

I am fortunate to have a sister who struggled with her weight for years and has now lost 78 lbs. and counting. Watching her do that made weight loss seem attainable for me too. I am so lucky to have her support and encouragement. I hope to be able to do the same thing for someone else on day!

As I'm losing weight once and awhile I'll discover an old piece of clothing that used to be too small that now fits. I find that super encouraging!

I have been inspired by reading the posts on message boards. I find encouragement, humor, people with similar problems and goals. All of it has been inspiring.

I am inspired by women over 40 that lose weight. The reason being is that perimenopause is awful and when our hormones are whacked out it makes it that much harder to stay in shape or lose weight let alone function properly. I am 47 so when I see someone in my age bracket or even a little older, I know I can do this.

Good for you! As a nurse I see people everyday who continue to happily sabotage their own health because there's a "magic pill" for their problem(s). I wish more people would approach health issues like you. People don't realize it, but one day those pills will stop working. You will be significantly healthier in the long run by taking that initiative now.

HI !! You mentioned your legs. While exercising have some tried ankle weights. I bought a pair from 1.5 lb. weights. When I started my diet & exercise program my thighs were 20 in.now they are 16 in. Even wear them while walking around the house. And also give you more strength, too. GOOD LUCK

Not "what" but "who" for me. The first time around I had cancer, back in 2003, I didn't even think about trying to exercise while going through treatment.

Then in 2006, I joined Spark. When my cancer returned in 2007, I joined a Surviving Cancer Spark Team; the ladies on that team who continued to exercise while undergoing treatment really inspired; I knew if they could do it, I could too!

My name is Shari; I have been a Sparker since July 2006, and living with Stage IV breast cancer since 2007.

Promise me you'll always remember: You're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.

My inspiration comes from knowing what I used to feel like and look like when I was a size 12 and not a size 22. I was so at peace with myself. I want to get back to that.

Currently I am meditating with Oprah and Depak on the 21 day challenge and it is focused on self awareness. and yesterday they talked about what you see on the outside is reflective of what is on the inside. How true is that....so this journey is about a whole new level for me. I am self aware suddenly of what goes into my mouth. This has bought on a new found freedom but one that I hope and pray will end up lasting a LIFETIME. so meditation is motivating me.

I have to say Sparkpeople sucess stories and being able to blog when I am frustrated with my efforts motivates me as well.

A co-worker who celebrated 50 pounds lost over 2 years.

It's funny, somehow that expanse of time stretching out in front of you can seem like some impossible insurmountable goal ("omg, it's going to take me 6 months, or a year, or two, or more!!!! to lose all this weight!").

But when SHE told me, "well, it has taken me just 'bout 2 years now, but - 50 down!" I was so surprised - it didn't SEEM like two years ago that she had her "snap" moment and started to change her life. It didn't seem long at all! I'm sure to HER it felt like "forever" but to the envious third-party-looking-on (me!), it seemed to have happened almost overnight. Made me feel more like if i would just START TODAY, i'll be healthier and fitter "in no time at all."

Goal 1 - break 200 (46 pounds lost)**DONE**
Goal 2 - leave obesity behind (BMI 29.9, at 185#) **DONE**
Goal 3 - BMI = Normal (154# or less)

I also love how people on here are helpful, friendly and genuinely show support for each other. That is so refreshing and very helpful when you are starting a journey for yourself - especially one that involves weightloss!

I find inspiration in weight loss stories, including The Biggest Loser.

For myself I don't have a compelling "it" moment - I do hate my fat clothes (and was starting to not fit them), dont like my picture taken, need to have a BMI under 25 for my health (less of a chance of breast cancer recurring). But an article I just posted, which is about obesity myths, reads that being ready or not doesnt matter fr weight loss (is that the same as motivation?).

Right now, I'm inspired by Spark Guy's discussion about streaks - I've started a 30 day exercise streak to try and get myself into the habit and to hate it less.

Lay aside life-harming heaviness and entertain a cheerful disposition.

My husband and I started watching Biggest Loser this season. As I watched, I realized that I wanted to be a part of the Biggest Loser challenge to America. I am also inspired by Danni, my favorite contestant from this season.

I was inspired by my husband. he found out in January that he is diabetic. so since he is sick we are now a healthy household

the rocky road before you now will lead you to a rainbow.

happy are those who dream dreams and are ready to pay the price to make them come true.

almost anything in life is easier to get into than out of.

a diamond is a piece of coal that stuck to the job.

sow an act and you reap a habit. sow a habit and you reap a character. sow a character and you reap a destiny.

For me, I have had low self esteem all of my life. I used to get bullied in high school because I was ugly. I have built my self esteem up over the years, but I am co-dependant. I am working on that. What gives me inspiration is to know that I AM somebody, and I deserve a happy life. I was married to a criminal and then to a lazy unsupportive stay on the couch all day guy. Now I have a wonderful husband. I want to look good for him and have a nice body for him, because I love him and I want to please him in every way. Well, I don't know what else to say. Thanks.

My sister-in-law who went from having beautiful curves on her wedding day, to a black dress body with a face full of *spark*. I didn't even know she was investing into her health like she was until I saw her at Christmas. So proud of her!
.... that, and my other sister-in-law who took a picture of me 2 christmas' ago that shocked me! I will be using that as my 'before' picture LOL.

My aunt recently quit smoking after trying over and over. I was trying to lose weight along side her, and something she said motivated and inspired me. She said,

"For the fist time in my life the New Year is coming and I don't have to resolve to quit smoking... again. Because I already have!" The joy in her voice and sense of accomplishment was truly contagious and motivating!

Is there something you heard or saw or experienced that you're hanging onto as inspiration to lead this new healthy lifestyle?

Today. Get it while its hot.
