Thank you all for the great feedback. I saw my doc on Monday and he ordered a few tests to see what's going on with my (digestive) system. I've wanted to eat more this week, but oftentimes feel awful after I do. Not sure what's going on, just know I don't like it.
The added fiber (inulin) in Fiber One products always upsets my gastrointestinal system for the rest of the day. :\ It makes me super bloated and gassy... so I avoid inulin as much as possible and prefer to get my fiber from natural food sources.

I used to buy the bars but found them addictive. I could eat a whole box in the evening. Like eating sweets. Had to switch to Kashi. Not as much fiber, but not tempted to eat a whole box. The fiber one bars were effective though. Even when I didn't overload on them they made a difference.

I think Fiber One is a great cereal. Tasty, healthy for you, etc. My husband likes it too. It is a little pricey I think.

As long as I don't eat more than one serving of it a day, I'm okay with Fiber One products. Any more and I start to have GI issues.

I've eaten Fiber One cereal every day for years. Let me say though that in order to be "regular", I need to eat a lot more fiber than the RDA says. I tried just eating a lot more vegetables (I still eat a lot of low-starch vegetables, plus a couple peel-on fruits (apples etc) -- in the neighborhood of 9-12 svgs.) every day. I tried flax (bad constipation for me). I tried fiber pills.
What I like about Fiber One is that it is low calorie and not many carbs-- I'm going to eat cold cereal for breakfast anyway (that's my preferred choice for breakfast). I have no issues with artificial sweeteners and I use very little of them anyway.
If you're having trouble after eating it-- it could be too much fiber. Lots of people have trouble if they add a lot of fiber to their diet too quickly. Could cause diarrhea or constipation. Plus bloating. So you'd want to stop it for a while and then if you wanted to re-introduce it, measure a small amount and add it back in gradually.
Could be the corn bran in it-- corn is harder to digest than some other vegetables. This is gross, but often corn comes out the other end, looking just like when it went in. Sometimes people have sensitivities / allergies to corn. Or wheat.
And it could be the aspartame. Many people have digestive issues with some artificial sweeteners.

I prefer to add flax to my diet. It not only works as a fiber source, it is also an excellent food for supporting cardiovascular health.
love it but unfortunately fiber works the complete opposite with me. If I eat it I suffer with constipation. I have to limit my intake of fiber. Had a half cup yesterday for the fist time in months and suffered for it.

I eat Fiber One products, not even necessarily for the fiber. I actually usually get enough fiber with my fruit and veggie intake everyday. I think it's a good idea that you will be asking a doctor about this. My favorite product they make is the Fiber One Protein bar. I use it if I need a quick snack and to help me get through work. I track fiber with SP and sometimes it says I get too much, especially if I eat Fiber One foods. Do you track your Fiber intake with SP? There is an option to do so with the nutrition tracker.
Is it wrong to fight time, to turn it back or push it forward? Time was never mine.

I ate fiber one cereal for years. I started having problems with severe bloating and cramping. I thought I needed more. I later found out that cereals/products with such high fiber can also have an opposite effect, if not taken with enough water. During that time I was also diagnosed with some food alergies and IBS. What I learned is that with IBS and these allergies that high fiber foods (especially those with insoluable fiber) are a disaster for my system. I started tracking fiber and type of fiber, and cut these out and got better real fast!

I eat Fiber One chocolate cereal...only 80-calories/serving. I love the stuff, and have had no problems. In fact, I need more fiber.
I don't eat Fiber One cereal, but I love the Fiber One bars! They don't cause me any intestinal problems, but they're definitely not healthy, either. They are glorified candy bars, and I'm okay with that.
I like the 90 calorie brownies but it doesn't help me at all with consipation it only makes me bloated. I think it is the type of fiber in them. Not bad on taste for any of it that I have tried and usually low in calories but I wouldn't count on it for your true fiber.

So many negative responses here, but I think Fiber One is one of the bettered cereals as does my husbands. I do not eat it everyday, however.

I can never eat a full serving of fiber one. i have to either half it or even eat less than half. My stomach goes into a tailspin if I eat a full serving. i have tried to increase it slowly over time but i still have problems.
just like with artificial sweeteners, some people can't stomach artificial fiber [the supplement kind, not the kind from actual food]. skip the cereal for a few days and if it goes away, stick to getting your fiber from food and you should be fine.
i would say the change in fiber in your diet would be more likely that ibs. if you've gone up dramatically in the past few weeks then give your body at least a few weeks to get the right mix of bacteria built up to handle the types of food that you are eating now. besides that make sure you are drinking plenty of water and eating plenty of fat. because your digestive tract is a rather long, thin and crinkly tube and getting enough of those two things makes it much easier for foods to make it through your digestive tract.
try to make sure you are keeping your fiber intake somewhere between 25 and 50 grams a day. things like lentils [9 g fiber per 1/4 cup serving], beans [8-15 g fiber per 1/2 cup dry] and vegetables are great for getting your fiber in without resorting to supplementation like fiber one.
while it could be coincidental, based on how much else is going on in your life just now, you may be well advised to stop it for a while and see if the results vary.
Check the ingredient list. If there's more than a few ingredients, plus a bunch you can't identify as something you'd have in your pantry; perhaps it's better to look elsewhere for your fibre consumption.
According to one site (and I'm not sure which one you've used, so this is just a guess):
INGREDIENTS: Corn Bran, Whole Grain Wheat, Wheat Bran, Corn Starch, Calcium Carbonate, Guar Gum, Color Added, Cellulose Gum, Salt, Baking Soda, Corn Oil, Aspartame, and Vitamin E (Mixed Tocopherols) Added to Preserve Freshness.
That's a lot of stuff, including Aspartame, which some people cannot tolerate.

It's probably because our bodies are not designed to eat grains. Fiber One is junk food. I agree w/ the above poster that to get more fiber you should try flax, chia, psyllium husk, etc. (And of course veggies!!!!)
I'm sure the hammer will come down for me saying that eat grains and wheat are awful for you... But you can decide for yourself. ;) Check out the Blood Type diet, or a book/website that explains the Paleo diet.

The thing is, Fiber One, though not the worst thing for you, still isn't as good as fresh vegetables and fruits. Instead of fiberone, try flaxseed meal or chia seeds with your yogurt. :)

I've been adding Fiber One cereal to my yogurt, etc. to increase my fiber intake. After consuming it, I've noticed that my abdomen gets quite sore while it's working its way through my system. I'm wondering if anyone else has had a difficult time eating Fiber One. I'm starting to wonder, too, if I may have IBS or something because my habits have changed. Or could this be the result of the additional (or too much) fiber in my diet? My husband, who is a nurse, believes it's my diet. But I've read that a person's body adjusts to increased fiber. My body certainly isn't! If anything it's becoming more difficult on consume! I'm planning on taking a break from the cereal for awhile to see how my body responds. Any thoughts? Anyone experience this? I am meeting with my doc in April, but in the meantime, thought I'd write here.
