FB and SP each have there own place. Besides exercising I also like swimming, bike riding, and walking running the dog. I also have taken a lot of pictures along the way. I used to post them on SP FB page but they took that option away. So I post some of them on newspapers and hospital FB pages instead. I leave them on the page and delete them weeks later Through SP is where I challenged myself to lose weight and I did, 43 pounds that I hope I never ever find. I have posted often of my accomplishments on FB.. Some of my family members have finally gotten the message and have taken up exercising as well. Some day SP maybe a full and balanced web site. In the mean time I"ll continue my climb to the top, see you there

I love Facebook. I live far away from most of my family, and I've lived in a few different cities so I have friends all over the place. Facebook allows me to keep in touch with all of them, even my 92 year old grandpa who lives in San Diego. I love seeing the pictures of my friends' kids growing up, and I'm able to find out quickly when someone gets engaged or is pregnant... all the things people my age are doing. Prior to having Facebook, I was living far away from most of my friends, and 2 of them got married and I had no idea because it was difficult to keep in touch with them. My high school reunion was planned through Facebook too. However, I don't put a lot of personal stuff out there.... just like I wouldn't announce something loudly in a busy restaurant. I didn't post anything about my weight loss until I hit my goal weight, and even then it was just a funny comment about wearing a new pant size. Some people noticed in my photos that I was losing though. I just ignore the political stuff and the drama queens/kings. I love Sparkpeople and the community here, but I don't consider them to be the same kind of thing. Here, for me at least, the focus is mostly about weight loss, healthy living, etc. Facebook is more for social things.

I use Facebook and Sparkpeople every single day. However, I keep the 2 separate. I never post anything weightloss related on Facebook- ever! That's what Sparkpeople is for.
**LINDA** Weight loss is accomplished with the mind. A person who wants something WILL find a way....a person who doesn't will find an excuse. Which do you prefer? I use FB to interact with only 3-4 friends; otherwise, I don't use FB much, and I don't use FB to broadcast SP or my weight-loss information. I use SP for my nutrtition information and logging my weight-loss goals and such.

I only use FB for real friends and family but with SP I do feel that everyone is a friend. So far nobody has said you have or should be doing so and so. This is not what I get from some close friends or FB. So as you said thanks SP for being there for me.
Made it, this time to my goal of 72K but reset it 70k to let me go up or down. I will be very happy to stay between the two. See http://trevcannon.blogspot.co.uk/

I don't comment much on either one. I like to read and know. So FB keeps me up to date on family and friends. SP helps me personally. I don't share my progress here with any of my FB. I do love FB as it has helped me lose weight and do so at my pace that fits my body.

I've never been a fan of FB. Lately I have cut back on friends and rarely check it.

I do not like FB. I only have family as conyacts, but they are so stupid in topic of conversation and such, I rarely go to it. I know there aree a lot of things there, I just do not know how or where to go. Sparks is the one place I feel comfortable talking about myself.

Facebook to keep in touch with family and close friends. Sparkpeople for encouragement and support for a healthy lifestyle. I love them both!

I've been on FB for about 4 years. I was reluctant to create an account at first but once I did it was nice to get in touch with friends, especially since they had all abandoned Myspace. Posting pics and seeing pics from others, catching up on everybody's day to day lives, and chatting with old friends was one of my favorite things to do. Within the last couple years I've accumulated some friends and I've deleted people who I thought were friends. I've also been deleted, blocked, and ignored by people who were once important at some point in my life (I only have people on my friend's list that I know or had known. No random strangers). Currently I've got 122 friends on my friends list. I've only been with SP since last month. I personally know 2 people here on SP and I've invited an acquaintance of mine. So 3 out of what...THOUSANDS of people...!?!? Well, I guess my point is that I haven't even announced on my FB about my weight loss goals. I don't feel like my "friends" will support me. Yes, some of those friends are family members who will be supportive to an extent, but when I log on to SP I know that ,even though all of you are "random strangers", you support me in every way. I've learned in this short month and a half that by posting on the message boards, reading posts, and answering others' posts that we can, not only support each other, but relate to each other. I don't log on to FB like I used to. I learn things here. So I'm saying Thank You to all Sparklers here, even if we've never communicated with each other. And I'm saying Thank You to the founder of SparkPeople, Chris Downie, for giving us all the opportunity and help to better ourselves!
