Oh dear. Well. Thank you Google, now i know. It is a "soluble fibre" called Glucomannan.... which "When it's mixed with water, it forms a thick and expansive goo in the digestive system. In this way, glucomannan is very much like a sponge, or the nutritional equivalent of those toys that can grow to 600 percent their original size. Glucomannan isn't quite that impressive, but it does swell to about 17 percent of its original size. The theory is that if the glucomannan has swelled in your stomach, you'll no longer be hungry. I mean... how would you ever learn portion control, if you kept your stomach stretched and bloated full all the time - as soon as you stop ingesting it, you go through the same "empty tummy" feelings. I'd rather just suck it up for a few days or a few weeks and get my body used to the feeling of "normal sized portions" (it really didn't take me very long at all!). I also don't want to feel too bloated to eat - I want to EAT AND ENJOY my food. This product does not seem conducive to enjoying my food or improving my relationship with it.
As for "you can't do it on your own, you just can't!" - false. I can and I am.
