My pet peeve is user-entered items with the vitamins and minerals section done wrong.
Like... an item that contains 987% of my daily Vitamin A.... sigh. I mean, it's a little confusing, in the top part you put in the AMOUNT of fat, protein etc., and in the vitamins part you put in the PERCENTAGE OF RDA, but still.
Also dislike the "1 serving" amounts, unless it is written in the item description just what "1 serving" is meant to be.
To be fair, most people probably input these for their own benefit, to THEM they know what they mean by "1 serving" - and they probably aren't much thinking that someone else out there might be pulling up their entry....

1. some people suck at data entry. 2. companies do change their formulas and there isn't really an effective purge option for or timestamp on the entries, so some of that info is old. and this is especially true because spark started letting users share info right before companies started to reformulate to get rid of trans fats [ie started changing all their recipes]. 3. companies sometimes have different recipes for the same product, which could yield different nutrition info. and spark users are all over the world which means even more recipes for the same product.

I only use the data base for fresh fruit and veggies. Anything that comes in a package-- even chia seeds, protein powders, etc. I put in my self according to the label. I never use something that another Sparker put in manually. I don't trust them and i am sure they don't necessarily trust me either. Actually I am ok with that.

Most of the time I use my own favorites. It is rare that I use the database. That way I am certain it is correct

I can relate totally to your post. I absolute do the same thing.

I am pretty up on my food entries (I take the nutrition facts straight off the food packaging or manufacturer website), and occasionally I have to re-check and edit some things because the manufacturer changed their nutritionals. 99% of the stuff I have on my food tracker was all self-entered so I know it is right.
Like ya said, sometimes you just gotta do it yourself! It took awhile to get a good database going, but I'm so used to entering new food products it takes less than a minute so it's not much of a hassle anymore.

I was thinking about going back and editing my favorites, but that is a daunting task I couldn't imagine over hauling the entire database.

I think the nutrition likely changes over time as companies change their formulas. It is true however that the Nutrition listing could use some updating as much is out of date.

I was think dining companies are always changing their formulas. And that would change the nutrition information. Maybe those three entries were put in years ago and it was correct at that time?
My pet peeve is the nutrition information for Lasagna. Seriously who the world eats 1 ounce of lasagna? That is not even a whole bite.
That is exactly what I did. Anything worth doing is worth doing right. That is a lesson I am always trying to teach my kids.

In the game of diet, exercise, and disciplined life style, there are many personalities, some which are wanting to it no matter what the cost, some think they want to do it, some do it for self glorication, to say I went to the gym this morning, when in fact they went but stood around the drink machine checking out the opposite sex, or jiving with some ego riddened weight lifter, and then their are who just don!t care, will put in wrong info just to mess with people. BUT, anything worth doing is worth doing right. The other sparker who posted, hit it right on, get the info off of the label of nutrition value and put it in your favorites
i CAN And will do this in spite of any obstruction be it man or beast or, friend or foe email@example.com
