We each have our own...we don't need to know each other's indulgences and splurges as long as all the bills are paid.

Since my husband is an over the road trucker he got his own account which he uses for his expenses and we have a joint account which I use to pay bills and such. This way he does not mess me up by removing money designated for bills and always has money available for his expenses.

We have two joint accounts -- one for expenses and one for savings. Then we both have our own separate accounts.

We have separate and we split the bills to make things even.

We have both.
The bills are handled from a joint account. It's actually his only account, as well.
I, on the other hand, have a couple, but he knows of them, and one in particular is used for his school fees, etc., so it's kept separate from others - and we know exactly what's there (and what needs to be there)

My fiancé and I have separate accounts, and I don't for the time being see a reason to change that.

I would have 1 joint for house bills the things you would split. Then have 1 for you and only you can get into the account. Having your own isn't a secret it is just something you can control.

My husband and I keep joint savings for the down payment account and our emergency fund, and a joint chequing account for rent, insurance and other major expenses. Otherwise, we each have our own chequing accounts and 'pay' the other accounts each pay day. We pay for our own phones, I pay most of the household bills like cable, he pays for any car-related expenses since I almost never use the vehicle. We alternate groceries and other expenses based on who was most recently paid. We both have different budgets set up because we both prefer to handle money in different ways. As long as we're each covering our share of the expenses, it's all good. We had both had a good decade or so of living on our own before we got married, so by that time you usually have some fairly set ways of dealing with responsibilities. We've adjusted some of our habits to make it easier to manage a combined household, but for the most part we've carried on with how we handled things before we were together.

My dh and I have a joint checking and savings account. We are a single income household. Dh puts money in and I am in charge of paying the bills. When we got married I had my own bank account. I also had more bills than dh. Over time that changed and it was easier to have everything together.

My husband and I have done it both ways, joint and seperate. It just works better when we have a joint account. I keep up with the checkbook and pay all the bills, but he works for the money just like I do. He always knows to the penny how much we have in the bank, whether in checking or savings. All our belongings are jointly owned. And if we split up, it won't be a problem, because I tell him if he leaves me, he has to take me with him!

One income with one account. I am a homemaker, but even if I do work for a paycheck it will be one account. I know seperate acounts have become the new way, but it is odd to me. I wouldn't go for it, it's almost sounds insulting.
