I love traditional books!

“When you're a beautiful person on the inside, there is nothing in the world that can change that about you. Jealousy is the result of one's lack of self-confidence, self-worth, and self-acceptance.

There is something about the touch and feel of a traditional book that always makes them my favorite. However, I find so many no cost or low cost e-reader books that I do use my e-reader fairly often. It's more portable than a traditional book since I only have to carry the e-reader not several books, and no one can see what I'm reading while I'm using my e-reader.

Traditional books, for sure. One of the ways I interact with, and retain, information is by underlining, circling, and writing notes all over my books. So I pretty much ruin every book I read as far as resale goes, but I learn well in this way.

"Rather train yourself for godliness; for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come" (1Timothy4:7-8)

"Jesus answered, 'The most important [commandment] is, 'Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength'" (Mark 12:29-30).

I like to hold a traditional book and be able to turn the pages. There's also a sense of accomplishment when you can actually see how far along you are. BUT I really do prefer eBooks for traveling. It's a lot more convenient and traditional books can take up a lot of luggage space!

i prefer traditional books. I like being able to turn the pages and see my progress. I tried reading Mockingjay on a Nook and I didn't like it so I went and got the actual book. My husband loves his iPad as a way to have all his articles for grad school on one device rather than hundreds of pages of paper. to lug around.

Traditional books, you can't beat the feeling of the pages between your fingers with an e-book. Sorry.

I would love to love e-books! I have a Kindle™, and while it does serve a purpose, it doesn't have the flexibility of traditional print media, IMO.

It's not easy to highlight. I can't flip right to highlighted sections, and then there are usually other highlights not of my own making to filter out. I have an older version, which means the "pages" are identified by "location", and not by page. You can't easily cross-reference that to paper books. I'm a great "flipper"... I scan through books and evidently use the page format to help me locate a thing. It's not an easy thing to do on an e-book.

If I'm just reading for entertainment, the Kindle™ is fine. I'm reading that right through and not searching. If I'm reading for information, it's unwieldy. Unfortunately, most every time I pick up the Kindle™ to use it, it's been idle long enough that I *can't* do ANYthing with it until I recharge it. I don't have to recharge my print books.

The Kindle™ is great for travelling, or to carry to someone else I'd like to share something with (assuming I can find the info on the Kindle™!). It's very nice to be able to increase the font size when my old eyes start to get tired, too.

I guess, overall, I prefer traditional. Even though I'd LIKE to like the Kindle™ more.

I honestly prefer traditional books, but I love the freedom to "carry" a large library in my Kindle.

Traditional books work best for me. I've got some ebooks, but it's disorienting to read them. You can't easily see where you are and how much more there is to go. But my real love is audio books! I've bought hundreds of them over the years. I knit, do housework or exercise while listening.

Both - I like e-books for their convenience but also still love the feel of paper and the thrill of a new book in my hands. I've also started on audio books for non-fiction.

I don't like my Kindle...don't like the fact I can't easily access previous pages and ideas.

But I do like reading my Kindle books on my PC. The contrast is great!

I still prefer the feel and familiarity of conventional books most :)

The E book idea looks like a great idea but I still prefer books. Going to a library is one of my favorite things to do. I'm getting up in years so I'm sure my thinking is biased.

I have lost 6 pounds. Though I am not trying as hard as I feel I should I am very happy about the weight loss. Good luck to all of you.

I haven't tried ebooks yet but have been looking for a reader. I like to go to the library and browse the shelves, read the inner page and get excited about a book. Turning the pages and seeing how far I have come and have to go is nice too.

Good thread! I was just talking about this with a co-worker the other day. I prefer traditional books. You get an entire sensory experience with traditional books. The feel of the grain in the paper. The smell of the ink.

I also prefer free library books. I have been going to libraries since I'm a kid and they are one of my favorite places.

I like the convenience of eBooks. I carry my Kindle Fire in my purse, so any time I have to wait or break/lunch its there and right where I left off. I do miss having the traditional book, especially when it's something good that I want to share with someone, I can't just give it to them to read. That is the thing that I miss the most about traditional/regular paper books.

I gotta say, both offer their own set of conveniences, drawbacks and unique experience. That being said, it's kind of nice having a library in the palm of my hand.

Call me old fashioned, but I love how a book feels in my hands. I have used the Apple reader ibooks, but I prefer a book where I can turn the pages.

When I was on the subway, I was looking at the people to see who was reading books or a tablet. I found about as many people were reading books as were reading tables like a Kindle or ipad. However, they were outnumbered by people looking at their phones !!

I don't mind reading either way
but if i lose/damage a trad. book the cost is significantly less that an ebook reader.

I read both equally. I can read the kindle books at the gym on the treadmill and I now have a lending library for ebooks. I still like the feel of paper, though!

I prefer a traditional book, but I have a kindle and find I read more with it because it is so convenient! I drive over 60 miles one way to work, so audiobooks have also become a favorite of mine.

I have a Kindle, and I use it occasionally, like for downloading free books on Amazon or when I see a book online that I want instantly, but ebooks will never take the place of books in my life. Kindle is okay for novels because you're just reading straight through, but I read a lot of non-fiction books that I want to mark passages and then flip back through quickly to find my place. That's doable with ebooks but not convenient.
