Hawaii is a beautiful place and each island has it's own perks.
If you are only able to visit one though, I'd go to Maui, it's beautiful has a lot of things to do and see, but isn't as crowded and touristy as Oahu.
Kauai is absolutely beautiful, just smaller and not as much variety of things to do.
Oahu has a lot of history, the USS Arizona is a moving and historic must if you go to Oahu.
The Big Island is the best place for volcano watching and helicopter tours.
As far as hotels, Wailea Marriott on Maui ---- the best.
Hilton Hawaiian Village on Oahu, you can't go wrong.
Have fun and just Hang Loose!
