I've lost 13 pounds and the difference is noticeable - I have also increased my upper and lower body muscle tone. I've jumped two belt loops and my jeans come off without me unbuttoning them! My wife and daughters have all noticed (but of course, they are all signed up for Sparkpeople too!)

It really depends on your starting size. The more you weigh, the more you need to lose before others see it. For me, people didn't notice until I lost 35-40 pounds.

ive only lost 8 lbs.....and someone mentioned it last night. now this is very surprising because im very tall and 'hide' my weight fairly well. i think its more the tightening from exercise she's noticed, but i'll take it lol. also remember people may notice but not comment, fearing it will come out as an insult or offensive in some way........or they are jealous.....or a whole host of other reasons..its very likely someone has noticed :)
some days even my rocket ship undies dont work.

the people who see you often are less likely to notice. The gradual change is difficult to see. Folks who haven't seen you for a few months (or longer) will be the ones who comment. I saw some former clients at the gym one night. I'd not seen them in a while. One of them said, "what did you do with the rest of you???" I'd lost about 20 lbs (dropped 2 clothing sizes). we had an elderly client in the office who we don't see often. He said I must have lost at least 30 lbs. since he last saw me (it was closer to 40). After the client left, by boss apologized for not noticing that I'd lost so much weight. Would have been really nice if he'd left it at that. No, of course he didn't..."so I guess that means you were actually overweight at one time?" hard to believe that man lives in a house with 4 females (wife & 3 daughters)! He's a super guy. He just says some really dumb things every so often.

I've really only been on SparkPeople for 4 weeks. I lost 2 lbs my first week, and 1 lb my second week. I dont feel like I've lost anymore(I dont have scales), but I do feel lighter...and that feels good!
Its kind of fun to do the impossible

It took a while -- about 40 pounds before others (besides my husband and sister, who knew I was losing weight) to notice anything. I started to really notice at 15-20 pounds, though it was really almost 40 before I dropped a size. (Of course my "current" size of 22W when I started was really tight when I started, so it was probably really two sizes dropped!) To the person down thread who gets the "too skinny" comments -- I got a lot of those, though mostly they've stopped. I think it's just what people are used to seeing, and it's a little jarring for them. Can't explain my Mom, though -- she keeps insisting that I'm really "large framed" despite all evidence to the contrary.
Starting Weight: 260 lbs. (November 2010) Quasi-Maintenance: 165 lbs. (June 2011) Goal Weight: 150 lbs. (reached December 8, 2011) Size 22W to Size 4 Currently maintaining within 5 lbs. (+ or -) of goal. I weigh daily, but also use a tape measure and the fit of my clothes to guage how well I'm doing.

Not until I had invested hundreds of miles walking and jogging and lost ~ 40# do I recall anyone else noticing. Believe that may well indicate why one ought to lose weight and/or get into decent aerobic/physical condition for themselves, rather than attempting to do so for the sake of anyone else.
I noticed a decided difference for myself after loosing 15-20#s !

be careful what you wish for.........I only say that because I am so tired of people telling me that I am too skinny. I lost 60 lbs. When I was over weight no one said a thing. But now people are making it their business about my weight. It took about 25 lbs. for people to notice. But I did not do it for them..........only for me and my better health.

I have had people in my gym class notice and even had an instructor at the gym mention how much I have toned. Have my husband, married kids, mom or sister noticed? Not that I know of. Just be satisfied knowing your pants fit better and you feel better Do not get discouraged. You are doing it for you, not them

I think being 'noticed' really depends on a LOT of things. For me, people started noticing around 20-30 pounds. Now that it is over 53 pounds, Everyone notices.

I have noticed, I have only lost 5 lbs, but, I can see it my hubby noticed, but probably only cuz, I was commiting on it. But the thing, I will never forget, is when I weighed 275 lbs, I had lost 65 lbs, before someone said, have you lost weight? Good grief, that was hard to take. I will never forget that one. Hard to believe, I once weighed that, seems like another lifetime ago. Right now, I weigh 185. I get down to 155-166 and then I go back up to 199, and then I start to lose it again. I never want to go back up to that weight again. In fact, I never want to weigh what I do right now. I want to lose it forever, maintain for the rest of my life, tired of going up down
