Use more spices than ever, tons of fresh produce and big batch cooking.

Best smoothie ever: banana, three handfuls of frozen berries (a mix is good; blueberries are sweet so they work on their own; beware of straight raspberries) and an inch of water in a tumbler (you'll get to know how much works for you. Awesome dessert in a glass!

Applesauce can replace almost everything — eggs, milk, oil. It's a versatile ingredient to have on hand (make sure you get unsweetened.

Now I saute with veggie broth instead of olive oil.

I have learned to add as many veggies as I can to just about everything. AND I eat more fresh salads and less "cooked" food. If we have rice, it's with steamed or lightly stir-fryed food. If we have quinoa, we have it with spinach and zucchini in it. Eggs get spinach, mushrooms, etc.

instead of filling your pan with butter when you cook eggs, just take a stick of butter and rub the pan after it's heated a little to get a coating of butter instead of a pool.

I make my own shake and bake. I use corn flakes with garlic powder, sage and chilli powder. I crush them all together. I have used this on chicken and I used it tonight on my salmon I baked.

We substitute vegetarian "meat" for ground hamburger. We measure everything as well, it's easy to go over your calories when you don't know how much a serving really is. When we go out to eat we immediately cut everything in half and only eat half then take the rest home for another meal.

I'm 1/4 way to my goal!

To measure everything! If I guess this is one tablespoon of oil and it is really two, that can add an extra 100 calories to that meal without my tracker showing it. More bad guesses and I could be over by a few hundred by the end of the day.

I use flaxmeal and almond flour to cover up meat or fish, my husband likes that and makes no fuss. I use beef or chicken broth when sauteeing stuff, instead of adding more and more oil, too. I make open faced sandwiches, so it looks like "more" when I serve lunch.

I just started using half bread crumbs/half raw wheat germ when I bake breaded chicken. My kids don't notice a difference. I may use straight up wheat germ in the near future!!
