If it's doctor-recommended weight loss (for a surgery) they should give you a plan to help you lose the weight. Otherwise slower is better. I'm doing the Virgin Diet. I don't know what the overall rate of weight loss is with that, but I believe it's had a positive effect on my mental health. :)

Exercising and eating right, you can lose 2 lbs a week. The more you exercise, the better it is. You could loseup to--MIND YOU, UP TO 30 lbs. in 3 -4 months. But that is eating coectly, np starvation.

30 lbs in 30 days is not healthy. You didn't gain 30 lbs in 30 days, right?

40 lbs in 3 months is not realistic, but not ideal. If you don't care about health then it's easily attainable. But keep in mind you will stress your body and probably gain back some (if not all) of the weight. If you are truly looking to lose weight and become healthy, you need to lose 1-2 lbs per week. That means 40 lbs should take roughly 4-5 months.

Only you can choose what is best for your lifestyle. But from a health standpoint, it's been proven that 1-2 lbs per week is the healthiest. Eating well and exercising is the healthiest way to achieve your goals. I've never heard of the shift diet. But I disagree with any diet that promotes 1,000 calories per day. Unless a doctor prescribes it, no one should eat less than 1,500 calories a day.

Good luck with whatever you decide is best for you!

I saw it on Dr. Oz and why I am not looking for a "magic pill" would like something more than eating right and excercising. Need to lose 40 lbs in 3 months..... Have you heard of the calorie shift diet? It is where you rotate between 1000 cal day and then 2000 cal day. Supposedly, you can lose 30 lbs in 30 days. Of course exercising too.

Not likely. While some reports say that it helps in weight loss. The reports also mention that it is minimal (< 1kg). And at the same time there are reports that it has been involved in supplements that have contributed to liver toxicity.

Supplements, drugs, chemicals, and herbs, are not the way to lose weight and gain health. If there were a "magic" supplement that worked, and was healthy, you'd see it advertised all over the place.
