I kind of think my diet has played a large roll as well (in depression)—I've started an elimination diet that I'm having good results with (early days yet, though). It's called "The Virgin Diet." Some people think it's pretty extreme, but it's really a three-week commitment to see if it helps you and then a one-by-one reintroduction of foods to figure out what might be causing issues. (You eliminate soy, eggs, corn, sugars and artificial sweeteners, especially fructose, peanuts,dairy, and gluten.) Good thing I'm not a vegetarian or I'd really be in trouble!
