Welcome to the Pacific NW! I have lived on a small island about 100 miles NW of Seattle on the Canadian border (on the US side) for 55 years. Light does not have to affect your workouts. You can walk, bike, and jog in the dark, and walk and jog in the rain. I know since I have been doing it for 40 years.
But you wrote about depression. Consistent, regular, exercise can help fight depression. So can support groups, church, and the light as you mentioned.
Be encouraged, as after Dec. 21, you (and I) get 2 minutes more daylight per day until June 21! As of Jan. 1, 2013, there are 20 more minutes of daylight since Dec. 21!
Keep reading SP and inspirational books. Figure out what postive thoughts you can exchange for depressed one. It helps. How do I know? I used to be depressed after a terrible marriage and divorce.
You can get through this, but be resourceful and get the help you need, even if it is a professional counselor.
You can also call New Life counselors who are free and have a live radio program, at 1-800- New-Life.
