Sounds familiar. I grew up with four brothers, two older than me and two younger. I'm their only sister and the only conversation EVER was about cars, cars, and more cars. My father encouraged them and my mother "played" a deaf ear and just smiled all the time. Being first generation American, my Italian parents favored my brothers - they could do no wrong. My mother and I had nothing in common and talking with her was like talking to my pets. She just smiled and nodded her head a lot, so naturally I was on my own to develop my own hobbies. I read a lot, and drew and painted. Thank goodness my brothers and I loved one another and got along great. They showed interests in my creativity, which forty years later I still keep up with. That old saying, "you can pick your friends but you can't pick your family" is so true. So out of respect for your sibling, just smile, nod your head, and walk out of the room. This will avoid problems. Katie
