My Family is going to a buffett, and eat Thanksgiving. That way we consentrate on the company not the food. No leftovers to over eat on. And with a picky eater teen this way he gets something special that he likes.

Since I don't really have any family to speak of, and I work in retail, I'll be essentially having Thanksgiving on the run. My boyfriend's working that day, so I'll be home alone doing the cooking and eating. I'll be making turkey, brown rice stuffing, greens, roasted butternut squash, and of course homemade pumpkin pie! I'll try to make as much ahead as possible, and eat early, since I have the joy of working Black Friday at 4 in the morning.

I am cooking but not trying to make it overly healthy. Although I am giving myself several good veggie dishes. I plan to eat a pretty much what I want at dinner but stop when I am full, not stuffed. I plan to send away as many leftovers as possible so that they are not sitting around tempting me. I plan to do a Black Friday burn on my treadmill.

I am spending Thanksgiving with my son's other grandparents, and since I am a vegan I will be bringing my own food which means I can control how much or little I can eat. I plan on making stuffed acorn squash, carrot pudding, sweet potato biscuits, and baked fruit.

It will be just the two of us this year. My husband does all the cooking for a traditional Thanksgiving meal and we enjoy the day together.

I'm going to make a downscaled version of the traditional Thanksgiving for two. I ordered a pastured turkey from a local farm this year (first time!), so I'm pretty excited about that! To go with it, I'll be making stuffing, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes or gratin, something green (don't know what yet, will see what comes in my farm box next week), and fresh cranberry sauce. As for my "plan" for the day, I will eat my fill, but not more. I won't be restrictive, but I won't go completely overboard either. I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!

Already celebrated it in Canada in Oct. I roasted a turkey, box dressing(hubby preference I did not have any), lean gravy with mash potatos mashed with skim milk. I made cranberry sc. with splenda and had mashed yams with coconut milk, green beans with onions, steamed carrots, green salad with light drsg. and angel food cake for dessert. It was delicious and did not make me ill from over indulging.

I'm doing a Turkey Trot! I'll be doing 5k, intervals of jogging at around 9am. Then a shower at some kind inlaw's house, hopefully MIL (hopefully they'll be moved back in post Sandy by then!). For dinner I'm not even 100% sure which family member's house it will be at yet, or what they serve. I'll probably just have a small serving of the things that appeal to me most, and skip the rest. They always have way too many kinds of dessert - I find even when I try to have tiny servings I end up too full of dessert, so I think I'll have a test-bite rule for myself. I'll eat one bite each of a couple desserts that look good, then two more bites of whichever was tastiest.

I don't care for the traditional meal, especially the way the in-laws fix it. It's greasy, fatty, and mushy, so I finally decided it's my holiday too, and I should enjoy my food too, the way I like it cooked. I usually bring what I want to eat, like pork/beef tenderloin, shrimp, etc., veggies the way I like them to be cooked, and a dessert that DH and I desire. We eat very few desserts, so it should be something we would really enjoy. Spend the calories wisely! I don't overeat, but I enjoy including my wine on the holidays. Moderation in all things!

MRSKATEDUVALL, for wine, your best bet is to go to a wine/liquor/beverage store to ask for a recommendation based on your menu and price point. I could recommend a bunch but there's no telling if you'd be able to find them where you're at since selection varies from store to store. But for types, Chardonnay is usually the go-to white wine on Thanksgiving. Pinot Grigio would work too. Some people prefer sweeter ones like Riesling but I personally prefer drier wines with food. I love how your guests are telling you what YOU need to serve to them though LOL

I don't know this year because I had my rotator cuff repaired and will be heavily medicated on Thanksgiving. I may stay home, eat something light and sleep. Thankfully I have been pretty consistent with exercise and the prognosis is excellent.

I'm going to exercise hard all week and stay within my daily calorie range before then but I know I'm going to end up eating way over my calorie range on Thursday. I'll just exercise extra hard on Friday and get back on track.

I am actually Canadian and therefore my Thanksgiving was in October but now I am living in Abu Dhabi and a group of us are getting together for American thanksgiving dinner. It is a potluck so I'm making healthy mashed potatoes because I love potatoes. I know there will be turkey and cranberry sauce so I'm still trying to eat healthy and stay within my calorie range for the day.

I'll have time off, so I hope the weather cooperates so I can go hiking.
As for dinner, my family likes the traditional food (I don't) and makes way too much of it, so I'm not worried about eating too much. I just have to get through sitting at the table while everybody else eats too much :) I've tried getting support for new healthier recipes with no luck. They say they are supportive of my healthier lifestyle, but get upset if it interferes with their unhealthy choices. I'm just one person, so it's easier to brush me off. I just eat a huge salad before and then a bit of turkey and green beans (fresh beans) at dinner.

It is all about portion control, and asking myself do I really want that. I also plan to track everything good or bad to really see how I did.

I plan on eating within reason. I never really got into gorging on Thanksgiving, I guess. I'm going to have some turkey, some green bean casserole, some mashed potatoes and a big green salad with cranberries and almonds. And I'm going to have a slice of pie. And I'm going to track it all and get a good cardio session in. Basically, I'm going to have a normal day.

I've never been one to go completely overboard on Thanksgiving but I don't plan on limiting myself at all. I'm going to eat what I want and be happy about it :)

My plan is to make a scrumptious hearty meal and have whatever I want, and the next day too. Saturday I will get back on track. Cooking good and enjoying food is a big part of my life and personality so I have my days where I allow to be free and enjoy to my hearts content. Last year I did the same thing and had a loss. Why, because I watched it beforehand and got back on track right away, plus I move about so much being the hostess. Happy Thanksgiving!

I am going to eat with limitations in mind. I do want to sample most of the meal..but if I am careful on my amounts I should be able to have some of everything and not feel guilty after. Loading up on salad to begin the meal ..and going from there.
