As I've gotten older, I've taken a page from my mom's book. For both of us, we came into our own at 40 and have just improved from there. Heck, my mom just became a politician...AT 65! She was elected to her local village board as a Trustee, and is really enjoying a new way to get involved with the community.

I'm one proud daughter.

Hi there, I think I would be the friend left behind. I'm not in bad shape I'm in awful shape. The chiropractor said that I need vitamin therapy and rest before he can even start work I me, that I'm such a mess. I think that is part of the issues facing this birthday.

Thanks for helping me find a better prospective on life. I guess I've been too stuck on the number and how that means your old. I'll remember your message. Thank you.

Thank you for your support and prayers. I'm trying to get past the fact that 65 means old and just find a new goal for life. Having problems so please keep praying.

Happy Birthday! Old age is a privalige denied to many. A friend's 15 year old daughter died last month three years after having a heart transplant at age 12. I am sure she would have loved to live to see age 65. My own mother died of cancer at age 55.

I really do wish you well and hope that you have a great birthday! Each new day is a gift and should be treasured.

Melody

Thank you all so much for your best wishes and even more so your encouraging words. I'll have to give it some thought but at least I've got some good ideas to think about. I guess that in the past 65 was OLD. I just want to be old and left on the shelf. I feel robbed of life in many ways because of being a single parent for most of it. I then 11 years moved in with the daughter, her husband and two grandchildren - but I'm still supporting them and its hard to know that I can't retire or even slow down. I've got to hold down three jobs to keep all the plates swinging in the air. So its been a big disappointment to not be able to slow down and enjoy life a little after so many years of supporting three kids. So I will try to turn the corner and refocus. Thanks for the imput. Its been such a boost to have people care and reach out and help me. So thanks so much.

Happy almost-Birthday!!

It sounds like this is a tough one for you but try to see the upside - there are lots and lots of great folks who didn't make it to their 65th birthdays and you are fortunate enough to do so. Cherish the day and celebrate the fact that you're still here.

If you're healthy 65 is still young enough to enjoy many more years of adventures, family and friends. I hope you'll be able to do so!

Happy birthday! 65 isn't really that old ya know. My dad's best friend is 70 and he still jams out on stage playing guitar every night! My grandmothers 81 and she still plays the Wii and walks 2 miles a day. I don't even know how the hell to play a Wii!

Happy birthday, and enjoy it!

When you think about it, you are no different at 11:55pm at 64 than you are at 12:05 am at 65.
And getting older is WAY better than the alternative!

looks like you have longevity in your family (just checked out your page).

so you NEED to make those healthy lifestyle changes. It's not easy for anybody, but you can do it if you really WANT to.

last weekend I was with a friend who is probably close to 10 years younger than I. We were climbing Clingman's Dome, and had to stop several times...for HER to rest (and she's from CO! I'm from GA). I've had a few younger co-workers tease me about my age, but I know I can outrun, outlift, out exercise most of them.

get healthy & enjoy the next 30 years or so! I didn't even break the 10 minute mile running until I was in my 40s.

The most handicapped person in the world is a negative thinker; a person who has the skills, abilities, talents and tools, yet chooses not to use them.
