Some people don't need to eat before working out, but I'm not one of them. When I work out in the morning I get up at 4:30 and am out the door by 5:15 (some days I work out in the evening so those days are different) so it needs to be quick and easy. I eat fruit like strawberries, blueberries, and melon (we keep a big tub of cut up fruit in the fridge to grab for snacks and meals). I can't eat a big breakfast at that time or I will just feel ill, but I have to eat something or I feel like I can't make it through my run or workout. The fruit seems to be enough and after I'm done I eat oatmeal and a protein shake or scrambled egg whites or something like that.

I usually eat a banana, sometimes a piece of toast with peanut butter. Lots of water is always good.

You NEVER regret a workout!

I don't like to fill myself up too much so I'll have either a banana or one of a two pack of Nature Valley granola bars.

I have been thinking about this too. I get up at 5 so I can either run or go to gym by 6/6:30. I typically have a cup of coffee but don't eat anything but by the time workout and shower are done I'm super hungry. But I've been afraid to eat before workout because I don't want to feel barfy, espeically before running. So maybe a piece of fruit or cheese. Now I'm totally craving a wheat tortilla with peanut butter and a banana rolled up in the middle. yummmm . . . .

At 5 am I hardly move ;) But if I have to run in the morning, I eat a piece of fruit and prepare myself a nice müsli for after sport.

I get grumpy if I do not get my cooked spelt-flakes and fruit in the morning.

I get up and run at 5am before I go to work. I normally don't eat anything before (just some water as I wake up and stretch) but I eat a bigger breakfast when I get back and go to work. That's just me tho. Some greek yogurt is a good option for before. The under 2 min variety of oatmeal or even a bowl of good cereal are good options for energy. My pre workout snack for lifting is often a whole wheat tortilla with peanut butter and a banana rolled up inside. Super quick to make and great fuel. I can see that being good for energy in the early morning gym. Congrats to you for the motivation to find the time to workout.

I don't go to the gym. Now then, going to zumba and dance, that's a different story.
