You are all so inspiring. I would say raising my son (with my husband) is my biggest accomplishment. I had a rough childhood and swore that my child would never experience the same.

Mt best accomlishment was raising my two children. I was a mother at the age of 14 & again at 18. I graduated from high scholl WITH my class. I have supported myself & childern without ANY government assistance! I'm not knocking anyone that recieves assistance. I was determined to overcome ALL obstacles that came my way. I am proud to say that my daughter will be 22 this month & has NO CHILDREN!!!!

My next one is when I ran a mile! Big for my being that I have never liked anything to do with physcial activities!

Raising kids is a HUGE accomplishment! A lot of people "part-time" parenthood--so being an involved parent is a big deal.

For me, exercising every day for 5 years is a big accomplishment--it means I've really made it part of my healthy lifestyle! :)

It Is What It Is.... :)

Looking at the other posts, I don't feel I've accomplished very much. But I have managed to raise 3 children to be active, intelligent, caring young adults. I think they actually did it, but maybe I helped keep them pointed in the right direction.

My best accomplishments are obtaining my Master’s degree and taking care of myself spiritually. I am extremely proud of obtaining my Masters because I am the second in my family to obtain a master’s degree. My second best accomplishment is my faith. Seven years ago, I made the decision to develop spiritually and it has been the best decision because it keeps me whole.

Thinking about this, I realize I've had several.

Becoming an RN at 30 and receiving my BBA in Accounting at 36-I'm very proud to have done both.

And now, having found Spark People and realizing this is a journey for the rest of my life and bouncing back to keep going forward, in spite of all that life throws at me. AND, consistently exercising for the past year. Woohoo!!

My best accomplishment was getting the courage to join the Marine Corps to get out of an abusive marriage. Graudating boot camp was the icing on the cake. Several years later, marrying and having my children was the ice cream to go with it! I am so very blessed (even if that marriage didn't work out). God has taken me on an incredible journey! Now, I'm working on accomplishing getting back to "me"!

I was going to say running a marathon, but I changed my mind. I think the fact that I'm still here after all this time--still getting up and going for it, even when it gets hard and I gain a few pounds back--is the greatest accomplishment.

Just Keep Swimming is my motto, and it's difficult but so important.

I guess I'd have to say finishing my B.A with honours -- my convocation is today, actually, haha. I also got into my M.A. program, which I am pumped about.

Health-wise, I feel like I have a healthier mindset than I have in the past, which is really all I could ask for.

My best accomplishment is seeing my 2 kids (aged 15 and 20) grow up to have a very strong and personal relationship with God . Ther rest is gravy. Due to this relationship they are successful in their other relationships and have made great choices in their lives.

Also my 28 year marriage. We got married at 21 and grew up together. Again, our strong relationship with God has helped us weather the ups and downs of every marriage.

Finally, I love my job teaching 2nd grade in a title one school with 80 percent poverty. I feel like I make a difference every day. It is really hard but I pray daily for each of my students, and for myself to have patience and love for them even when they are difficult and troubled.

Now I just need to get this weight off! Working on that...emoticon

Best acomplishment was to stop "the buck"

Used to be arrogant and vain, now confidant and humble. Enlightened and yet agressive if provoked. Giving and helpful, to satisfy a selfish need. I am intolerant of intolerant people. I laugh at pain, yet cry when happy. I strive to avoid life's pain, yet know that only through pain do we gain a sense of life or purpose. I doubt an after-life, yet cannot fathom the end of my existense.

You picked a good topic this time! For me, like many here, is raising my two sons to be wonderful caring adults. Also for me this last winter I climbed a mountain something I had wanted to do for many years but because of knee problems could not do it. This last winter I did it twice. They are not big mountains like the Rockies or Everest but they are big for me. I was so proud of my accomplishment. If for some reason I cannot do it again, I will be satisfied. (don't get me wrong, I am planning on trying again!) Also, this is an accomplishment now a days, we have been married almost 49 years......where did that time go?

The most accomplished I have felt is several things that all deal with Team In Training.
Completing a marathon and a triathlon with them at the same time raising money for Blood Cancer research, and leading others to do the same thing when I worked for them.

As many lbs as realistically possible before Thanksgiving 2013, my 61st birthday. They are on the same day, November 28, it happens once in many years depending on the leap froggy month. Last time was major the big 50, Thanksgiving I thought the earth trembled! lol

"Best"? Hard to say, because "best" has so many angles. Can't choose from

a) Completed Ph.D.
b) Did most of the work myself to renovate my kitchen, starting from zero know-how and learning how to install tile on floor and wall, put in a cork floor, laminate cabinets, tear out cabinets, install new cabinet doors, repair a ceiling with a 4ft hole...and put up crown moldings.
c) Shed 60 pounds, learned to love exercise, learned what I need to do to be fit and healthy.

Succeeding at being a single mother, losing 50 lbs (more to come!).

Motivation Mantra: If you’re walking down a set of stairs and you slip on a stair, you get up and continue your walk down. You would never get up and then throw yourself down the rest of the stairs. If you've "fallen" lately, now's the time to get up, forgive yourself, and move on!

Congratulations to everyone! These are amazing accomplishments!

For me, I'd like to put 3--one about my health, one personal and one professional.

Health: Learning to love running. I always wanted to run, but I always found it painful and disheartening. When I finally was patient and kind with myself and let myself go my own pace without comparing myself to anyone else, I learned to love clearing my mind and exercising in the great outdoors.

Personally: Getting the courage to pick up and move to Hawai'i. I am a stronger, happier and more confident person because of this move.

Professionally: Getting accepted to law school and being offered a significant scholarship. I am proud of myself and very excited for this next chapter in my life.

that I raised great children - and my son has become a fantastic father to his own child

I had him when I was 17 - early 70's - married his dad (still married to him) but at the time it wasn't the easiest thing - relationship - money problems etc. Had my daughter 4 years later.

We must have done something right - both have turned out to be great caring, adults. If you are a mom you know this is what you always hope for your children - well-being and health.

We can do this - We will do this!

Actually wanting to work out. I used to hate to exercise, now I love it! Yoga, swimming, biking, walking. This fall I am going to train to run!
