Thanks for you positive post! Several quesitons; Are you doing the injections? How much weight did you lose on HCG. How many rounds? Did you have any bad side effects? I have not been able to find anyone that has lost significant poundage, so I am thinking it is for those that only nee dto lose 30 pounds or less. Thanks!

When I heard of HCG I did my research. The HCG has been around since the 50's. I did it in 2011 and felt and looked great. My meal consisted of a vegetable, fruit and protein-500 cal a day. Foods were weighed. I never felt hungry. I lost 50 lbs in 28 weeks.

The only reason I regained 30 lbs, starting May of 2012, is because of pain pills until a prescription for a colon condition. Also got shoulder pain and again pain pills. Took three months to get that diagnosed. One shot pain gone and so are the pain pills. 20 pounds gained waiting for diagnosis' and on pain pills. Became depressed another 10.

Dec. 26, 2012 I went to emergency with a chest pains. Just anxiety, boyfriends family on Christmas. Had nothing to do with HCG. Now I delete stress and have made many healthy changes. One being SP.

I noticed I could not get my original HCG so I bought another. Their diet is 1200 cal.
I'm a firm believer of getting facts with supplements and my prescription. This watered down version does not work as well.

All people are different which we all know. But thanks to the internet, we can learn.

So sorry for the people that had a bad experience with HCG.

The good news is - YOU LIVED AND GOT TO MEET ALL OF US!

Building my bucket list and enjoying the ones I've accomplished!!! I quit smoking and have visited 34 out of 50 states. But I want to see the grand canyon, smithsonian institute, eat lobster in Portland Maine, a train trip for two months down the east coast then rent a car to other states I have not been to in the South and have enough money to thoroughly enjoy Vegas or Atlantic City and I'm sure I will think of other adventures.

I am so glad to hear you are going to be okay!!

I can't even imagine a diet that instructs a person to eat less than 1,200 calories a day. No way!!! Any medical professional advising such a thing should be ashamed of him/herself. I even glared at my doctor when she recommended "Medifast" to me a few years ago. I looked at her and said something like "And how exactly is that a permanent lifestyle change? I know what portions I SHOULD be eating. I know the difference between good and bad fats, and simple and complex carbs. I know what is high and low in fiber. I know how to prepare healthful foods. I know what types of exercises I enjoy and which I don't. The problem is within me, emotionally and psychologically. Nutrition shakes and fancy-label, calorie controlled TV dinners for a year are going to do nothing to help me five years from now when I'm eating "real" food and needing to stay determined to exercise."

Her eyes got big and she never brought it up again.

There was another spark person who actually did this diet, and it really messed them up physically, possibly for the rest of their life. It's so sad.

Unless you have done the protocol I don't think you can really judge unless you have read the doctors book pounds and inches you truly don't understand what this "diet" is all about. So to everyone who is hating on HCG do your research read the full book. I have done rounds over the last 3 years and in those years the best I feel is when I am doing the protocols. I look and feel great. Once the rounds are completed you can exercise and your lifestyle is changed. You eat good natural food not processed garbage. Honestly the best thing I ever did for myself. I love to exercise and feel great. I currently am doing my last round in 2 weeks I will be on P3. I cant wait. I love the change I see in myself.

I have not heard of this diet but have one question: Have there been any long term studies of its safety?

I am on week two of taking the hcg shots that my doctor prescribed for me. It doesn't hurt and even if I am not losing the weight as fast as I want to I have lost inches in my belly and thighs! I workout at the ymca daily and have more energy. I haven't had any side effects and think that this will help me. I, since I started this have been less hungry too! That is a side effect I can deal with. Denise

Thank you for this!! I see so many people saying it's not good for you blah blah blah. My own primary care physician went on it to see how it works and he highly recommends it. Yes, eating 500 calories without HCG will make you lose weight, but will also kill your metabolism and make you deathly sick. The HCG protects that and gives it a boost. I have dieted my way up to 255 lbs. Each time I lost weight, I gained it back, and it brought friends. The next time I lost weight, I couldn't get to the original weight, it was always 20 lbs or so more. After diet and more and more exercise and more exercise, eating low fat and working out 5 days a week, I still couldn't break 200. I have done HCG twice before and each time I had a personal crisis and wasn't able to finish. This time, I am going to finish!! and be the size 10 I was always meant to be!

Yes, thank you for asking, I do know why the homeopathic hCG drops injured me so. Here is what I learned:

- Check the amounts of hCG listed on your bottle of drops. The amounts listed on my drops are ' 3x, 6x, 12x, 30x, 60x' These are dilution numbers and tells you how much the hCG has been diluted.

According to what I found, if your bottle lists 3x, 6x, 12x, 30x, 60x, that means that you will have one drop of hCG for every 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 drops of water.

What this means is by the time you get to the 60x dilution “60x – on average, this would require giving two billion doses per second to six billion people for 4 billion years to deliver a single molecule of the original material to any patient.”

- So, you ask if we know what caused us our injuries, yes, it was the sustained 400 to 500 calorie diet we were doing. As my doctor said, it was causing my body to cannibalize my organs. I had a girl contact me after seeing my post and her heart stopped while doing this diet and the number of people who, like me, developed heart problems on this diet is growing.

I have an hCG diet poll going on another site and of all the responders who have reported doing the diet, about half have had very serious side effects. I've had many people contact me to tell me they 'followed protocol' too. The bottle itself establishes there is no hCG in the bottle so you know it's not that 'myth' that it's cannibalizing fat. This diet can harm vital organs and so many people have told me it made them fatter once they had to stop. You can't do this the rest of your life.

If anybody here feels they are 'bullet-proof' and wants to try the diet, please, I cannot recommend enough, stay monitored by a physician. Had I stayed monitored, no doubt they would have caught my side effects after a week or two but, as my physician told me, no way would they recommend it because of all the serious side effects that are being seen.

Any idea why many of you were so sick from this protocol? Well when you get to the last bit of fat it is the most toxic so when your sick as you are burning this fat this is the last bit that you always have left after normal diets or exercise that don't touch them.

If you read about the program you would see you eat 500 cal but when you take the drops you burn 2500cal that is why it works. Not to mention when you finish this protocol you can then reintroduce foods and see what foods make you gain weight overnight. So do som research I'm on it now yes it's hard but nothing is easy that's good for you

GiveMeFries, hCG in a woman's urine is what tells the pregnancy test to make a positive sign. It also tells a pregnant woman to start burning fat for fuel. When she is suffering from morning sickness and cannot eat. Or keep anything down.

HCG WORKS!! Take it from someone who struggled with their weight for 22 years. Once I started hcg and lost the belly weight I was the happiest I'd EVER been. Hcg does something AMAZING. I could go further but the proof is in the pudding. (The hcg that is).

I am horrified that anyone would think 500 calories is acceptable. No real dietician with seven years training would ever tell a person to eat that little. If they haven't got a degree in chemistry, biology, and a post grad in food science, they should not be handing out advice and diet supplements.

I tried HCG injections along with HGH and hormone therapy and lost 80 pounds in 7 months. It was costing me 1400 a month.

I felt great but Ran out of HSA savings thought I could maintain on my own - did not follow the stabilization phase which is detailed and 6 weeks long. After a ton of family and financial stress and two years of pizza and beer as therapy I had packed back on 45 pounds.

Fro everyone on this board who points to the FDA as not approving this use of HCG I suggest you consider the purpose of the FDA is not to protect people but corporations and drug companies I said consider.

With juice fasting was getting too much sugar not drinking green enough.. But it did help curb carbohydrate cravings. After I started drinking beer, I felt my brain was hijacked and I simply could not resist carbs and beer drinking became an impulse that was out of control . I was afraid I was on the road to becoming an alcoholic.. 4 beers a day was taking over my brain

I decided to try the hcg again injections. After 3 days. Could walk into a bar or past a pizza joint no brain hijack. And I am now doing this simply and I list 25 pounds in 42 days. Its also a bit of a mood elevator. It's been 26 days after my p2 or last injection, and I have keeping my weight stable as i have increased calories. I don't count calories but once in awhile will log on to fitbit and I am eating between 1600-2200 calories a day about 30 percent from fat.
I force myself to eat more protein that I , and most women (I'll have a Caesar salad) am used to eating.

Have starved myself before and it made me look haggard. This does not happen while on hcg.. I am still obese but my neck hump and batwings are smaller. I have made it a point to make all my own meals and use only organic local ingredients from the farmers market. I do not socialize at dinner parties. I offer myself up for shopping museums and walks most of my friends do not want to walk so I take my dog. I went to a play last night yay! The. To wine at
Where I ordered sparkling water and it felt like a treat!.

All my former dinner party pals all have gotten a little puffier this year. Looks like not enough water too much wine...

I spend tons more time in my kitchen and cleaning up. I have started developing knife skills.. I reuse glass voss 800ml water bottles and attempt to drink 5 of them a day in addition to coffee and tea..

I wanted to jump right back on the HCG diet and do another round right after my 25 pound weight loss. I learned my lesson last time. The most important part of this diet is learning to keep your weight stable and resetting your metabolic set point to accept your current weight and caloric intake at the intake that satisfies you. This is key. You eat or learn to eat till you are satisfied and you do not gain weight. Miraculous the diet Is training you to understand the components of what you are eating in terms of protein fat sugar starch and fiber and learning to self regulate by watching how your body reacts when you come off what is basically an elimination diet.

With other diets like the Medibase diet, at the end of the diet the number of calories to maintain the lower weight is lower than the number of calories to maintains the weight of someone who never lost weight..

This is not a scientific example this is conceptual example I am making up the facts and numbers in this paragraph to illustrate a concept.

a one ton monster needs to eat 500 pounds of people a day to stay a one ton monster. The monsters twin eats 700 pounds of people and winds up being one ton 500 pounds. The twin monster goes on diet of restricted calories and exercise and gets back to one ton. In order to stay at one ton the twin monster now can only eat 400 pounds of people. That is why we all yo-yo. We lose weight and we like to eat and the diet makes us able to consume less when we are wired to eat more, we want to eat 500 pounds of people.

The stabilization phase of HCG is supposed to allow you to allow the monster to eat the 500 pounds of people. So after 3 weeks eat whatever I want one rule no sugar no starch--- it's eat whatever you want until you feel full. Just make sure you do not gain or lose 2 pounds.

My brain is being resetting my metabolism to keep this weight with the many calories. I drink more water, stay away from sugar, even though I have stopped losing weight, my pants are falling off so the fat is shifting off my belly and hips, and importantly for me my bat wings..

The idea that if you eat less -and exercise more is a recipe for gaining weight. Exercising more will create a demand for more calories restricting calories will cause your body to slow your metabolism.

I have read blogs of people who lose weight and can't wait to get back to their old bad ,habits as soon as the diet is over.

I need to change I do not want to go back to carbohydrate brain hijack. I have been trying to quit sugar and caffeine for decades. I have been off sugar and limited fructose for 65 days.

Never want to do sugar again I still think longingly of chocolate covered caramels,,, so still have a long way to go in Channing habits of a lifetime.

Still doing caffeine oops. But liquid stevia makes it yummy.

Walk 10000 steps a day no trainer or gym required, drink more water than you think you'll ever need I even try and pound down an 800 ml bottle before bedtime if I did not drink enough in the day time. Give my sleep time repair time the tools it needs to repair things. I hung up my high heels and wearing hiking boot all day long love my ankle support.

I refill from a friends filtration system and stay off the tap water per dry instruction it has bad chemicals in it for my body. Add more water for every coffee tea or fruit juice you drink, don't drink fruit eat it sparingly and eat clean organic non GMO shorter chain proteins, know how much protein you need to feel full and then enjoy as much vegetables as you pile on your plate as possible without oil it's not going to hurt you. And if you yo- yo weigh yourself every day to avoid the slow creep up the scale.

I don't know if this will work. When I was 25 and weighted 124 pounds and ran 10 miles a day a nurse told me to lose weight now or I was headed for disaster. I gained 6 pound from 18 to 24 I laughed and thought I would never be fat middle aged lady. Hahaha....my knees and feet are toast form running and jumping.... I thought the running gave me carte Blanche to eat whatever I wanted. My French friends called me a gourmand ... Now I know you weight gain is not in pounds it's in percentages so I can gain 2% of my weight in a day and not notice it.... 2% at the low end is not so noticeable that why you need to keep using the scale. the slow creep of the 30's-& 40's then the extreme diets with extrem rebounds but me up to 240 ..

once you get to 200 pounds it's speed trip to 300 pounds if you don't change everything. It's not moderation it's emergency. Read eat to live or preventing and reversing heart disease good science extreme protocols.

So if your BMI Is obese or morbidly obese measure and monitor to make clear and permanent change. The estrogen in fat is super dangerous.

I do like this story about eat less exercise more. don't know where I read it ...on the internet..
if you were going to gourmet dinner party.. Alice water is cooking and bringing a pastry chef.. You would restrict your calories ahead of the meal and maybe walk to the dinner party 3 miles so you would be hungry and able to enjoy the yummy bounty, enjoy all the calories without guilt. So you ate less and exercised more in order to eat more calories.

That Is whyI think the hcg diet protocol is logical. If you don't like it do not doit but naysayers should tone it down. I think restricting calories and working out is a recipe for disaster, and the Swedish government agrees with me.

My good friend healthy thin vegetarian with a few kids is on mission , and it's the same mission of everyone here on spark people.

The mission is simple I told her her life's work with her family could be summed up in three words:

EAT DIFFERENT FOOD.

If what you eating is not helping you be healthy EDF... 54 inch belly is now 44 inch belly...8 inches to go. Slow and steady wins the race this is the slowest fast way to lose weight i have done and my skin looks great! More protein more water no sugar. If that is all I get it is worth it.

I reached my goal weight eating sensibly. With a couple treats thrown in. I could never do well on a diet where breakfast is a cup of coffee and tablespoon of milk. Or lunch is melba toast and an apple. I don't like melba toast and need something more substantial than an apple for a meal.

I just love it when I am told. That if I did my research that I would jump on the hCG bandwagon too. I have done my research. hCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) is the hormone in a woman's body that tells the pregnancy test to make a plus sign. Or whatever indicator to let a woman know that she is pregnant.

It is also the hormone that tells a woman's body to start burning stored fat for fuel. When the woman is suffering from morning sickness and cannot eat much. Or whatever she does eat comes back up. That is how I suspect that it became a weight loss aid. There is nothing new under the sun. This "protocol" has been around since the 50's

It is approved to assist in infertility. The FDA has "not" approved hCG for weight loss. The FDA sight even says it is "not" approved for weight loss. OTC supplements of hCG have been banned.

I had never heard of this diet until seeing this thread. I don't even need to investigate it. LOOK at the posts here. Most people who would not do this diet (or it made them ill) have several hundred or more posts listed to their names. Almost all of the people who like this diet have only 1 or 2 posts. I am on a diet for the first time in my life (I am 54) and I would much rather get info from people who diet the safe, healthy way than to inject anything in my body that doesn't belong there. We got overweight one day at a time, slowly it crept up on us. In order to be healthy and safe we have to lose weight one day at a time and yes, sometimes it is painfully slow. You wouldn't take an injection to become overweight, why would you take one to lose weight? The cardiologist I work with told me to eat healthy, moderate my intake and exercise. He also said I probably would not get down to what I weighed in my 20's or 30's because I am 54 and bodies change as we age. I am not a hater. I just want people to be as healthy as they can safely. If you had an obese child would you inject your child with this? Why would you inject yourself? If it isn't safe for your child why is it safe for you?

Slow and steady wins the race.

I just don't know how anyone can consider this safe. 500 calories isn't enough to fuel your body for the simple task of living, much less exercising. Most doctors are NOT nutritionists; therefore, their knowledge, or lack thereof, can be very dangerous. I think we'd be very hardpressed to find a nutritionist or dietician who advocates something like this.

Best weight loss protocol is BEHAVIOR CHANGE, PORTION CONTROL, EXERCISE and COMMON SENSE. NO HORMONES, NO PILLS, NO INJECTIONS! These companies are laughing all the way to the bank on your dollars....not to mention your health - long term!

Who is advocating this diet? Surely not a doctor?! That's 100 calories a day less than prisoners at Auschwitz were given! Beyond being obviously life threatening for some people, even if something like this "works", the minute you begin eating normally again the weight will pile on twice as quickly because of how starvation diets mess with your metabolism.

OMG the insanity that's out there (not the poster of this question, but the creator of this diet).

If those gimmick things were tried & true and safe, everyone would be doing them. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably isn't going to work. I would NEVER do HCG. That kind of thing terrifies me.

If the journey was easy I wouldn't appreciate the benefits I reap.

Why would anyone want to force themselves into starvation by limiting caloric intake to such a dramatic low level knowing that your body needs enough calories in a day to sustain? It makes me mad that people are led to believe this is safe!

If you focus on results, you will never change. If you focus on change, you will get results.

This thread needs to be "killed". It was started in July 2012 (ie. OLD) and there is plenty of documented issues with this "method" of damaging your body. Just don't do it!

Sorry to hear that some have had bad experiences on the HCG program. I can only assume that they have not done the program under the supervision of a health care professional. The HCG is the only program that has worked for me. And the Spark People site has been invaluable in-between rounds with its numerous healthy recipes and being able to keep track of calories. I will continue to use Spark People once I have reached my goal weight. I have been over weight now for more then 25 years and during this time I have tried several diets like the South Beach, Weight Watchers, Fit for Life, Atkins, Cabbage Soup, Dukan, Blood Type, as well as several others. I have also tried the different Shake diets with very little success. I would lose a few pounds (kilos) and that is it. I slugged it out in the gym for over a year doing both cardio and weights with little results also. I have now just completed 2 rounds of the HCG. I have lost the most I have lost on any other diet I have tried over the last 25 years. Although I have not lost as much as some others who have done this program I have lost nearly 20 pounds. The HCG is best done under the guidance of a doctor or under a health care professional and I don't know why some are exercising as this is definitely not recommended until you are off the injections, drops or in-between rounds as you could become weak. You also need to make sure that if you are not using the injections that any drops you use have the HCG in them as this important for the overall success of the diet. It is the HCG hormone that stops you from feeling hungry and stimulates the body into giving up the fat, inches and weight. Yes other 500 calories a day diets other then the HCG will work initially (I know a few that have tried this) but they are unable to be sustained and you inevitably wreck your metabolism as 500 calories is just way too low without the HCG hormone. Please to all those who want to try the HCG do it the right way and I am sure that you will have great success also.

All respect to those who don't believe in HCG, but if you read the program, the concept behind it and understand it. It DOES work. It HAS worked for years. Top women athletes have been known to get pregnant, long enough to get to their goal weight for competition, then abort the baby. BAD BAD BAD, but that is what happens. My own primary care physician used it before he would promote it and he supports it 100%. Yes, if you starve yourself, it's not good. The point is to use the HCG with the lower calories that boosts your metabolism by tricking your body into thinking it's pregnant. It will not let the fetus starve or harm the host (you), so it will pull energy, calories, fat from your reserves without harming you nutritionally, or take needed fat around organs and such, as you are supplying your body with the basic nutrition and calories it needs. If you cannot keep to the 500 calories, there are some revisions to go as high as 700 to 1000 calories. That is very doable. I had a problem with not eating breakfast. I don't drink coffee so had a hard time focusing in the morning. I just added a hard boiled egg and ate one of my fruit servings with it, and it was a piece of cake, so to speak :) I added a few more calories so the weight loss was slower, but I lost 20 lbs in 35 days. After you quit the program and you continue to eat right, low carbs, fresh veggies and fruits, like a good diet should be, it will stay off. Unfortunately, I had a personal crisis in which my whole life went to hell and I began to eat fast food again. ICK and gained what I lost, back in a short time. That was my fault, not the diets. I do notice though, that when I eat better, I lose weight easier.

It isn't for everyone. You have to be disciplined and motivated. I look at pics of success stories and it motivates me to stay on track. I plan on going back on hcg to get to a reasonable weight before we go on a much deserved cruise at the end of May.

Not every diet is right for every person. I have yo yo'd all my life, starting with diet pills as a young teen. I destroyed my metabolism. I was eating 1500 cals a day and working out 5 days a week and didn't lose a pound. Frustrating and depressing. HCG gave me a boost to my metabolism and determination and confidence that I don't have to live my life obese.

If you have any hesitations, I suggest going to a clinic and getting the info from a professional physician, not one of the "spas" that are now selling the program.

Sparkpeople does not permit the promotion of fad diets and dangerous supplements, particularly when they have been banned by the FDA. If even the FDA notices it's not good for you, maybe you should consider that it really, really isn't good for you.

I've been doing the Omni Drops Program since Jan 2nd and I'm getting ready to start round 2. I lost 28 pounds in the first round and I'm excited to lose again. I have had no negative side effects of the diet. Instead, I've only found myself with a great amount of energy, sleeping better, skin is better and I've lost weight.
Many people don't understand the program and how it works. If you don't follow the protocol, then you won't lose right. The program is all about teaching you to eat no processed foods, clean, healthy eating and changing your habits for life. You can't just take the drops and continue to eat the way you've always eaten.
Before you judge the program, please read the FREE ebook Pounds and Inches that is written by the doctor who did a study on the hcg program. Also, remember that not all hcg products are created equal. Only buy from a reputable source who has a great support program like Omnitrition has. It's about the Full Program, not just the drops.

Im not one who usually post, but Ive been using this site off and on for quite a few years. Ive always been pretty active, but when I reached 185 I decided to try the HCG diet. Previously to this diet I joined a bootcamp which I participated in at least 4 times a week and on top of that I worked out another hour and a half at the gym. After three months of that and eating well, I was only able to lose 10 pounds!! I had a trainer, I had the nutrition, but it just wasnt enough. Obviously I was at a point where I felt defeated.

So when I saw a groupon for HCG ( i had already done some research on it) I bought it. Now I am the biggest baby when it comes to needles and I almost backed out because of it. But I was desperate... Now there are different types of HCG; Homeopathic and Pharmacy grade(which I got from a doctor). There has been issues with the homeopathic and is no longer sold in stores. Anyways..

I like others struggled with the diet the first week, I was hungry, but the pounds were coming off so I kept going. I did two rounds of HCG, back to back. In the second round I honestly had to force myself to eat up to 500 calories. I wasnt hungry. In those two rounds I lost 40 pounds!! that was about three years ago. I now weigh 140 but I do fluctuate to about 145 and as low as 137. But when I gain the weight, Its because of my bad eating habits not because the diet failed. Now when I try to lose weight I dont use HCG as I know it works, but dont want to use that as a crutch to gain then lose weight. Again, Its hard to lose weight, so i am thinking about using HCG to drop another 10 pounds but this is only because working out is not working as fast as I would like it to.

Like any diet, this does take dedication. I never want to get to that 185 point in my life again. HCG was my alternative to getting the Lap-band and it worked!! And it has worked for everyone of my co-workers who have tried it and they are all healthy and had no complications!!

I did the hcg diet at official hcg store and lost 45lbs in 40 months. The program wasn't easy but I lost the weight and have since kept it off. I am not saying it will work for everyone but it worked for me.

Broken record here- it's good that you can share this. There are people everywhere, including on this site, who would be willing to try anything to lose weight. ANYTHING. Often they are blind and deaf to good sense, but maybe you reached someone.

I'd never get injected with hormones. Who knows what it could do to you? And a 500 calorie diet is sure to slow down your metabolism. Starvation diets don't work.

MARSHMELLOWGAL: HCG DOES NOT work. Period. There is NO evidence, at all, that it can; it's always coupled with an extreme diet, and that's what causes any weight loss. The drug itself is not approved for use, the FDA has banned and *sued* companies that claim any weight loss benefits. The facts are simply: HCG is a scam, period. An illegal one at that.

www.fda.gov/forconsumers/consumerupdates/u
cm281333.htm

Extreme low calorie diets will indeed trigger weight loss, but that has nothing to do with the use of the hormones that have no effect on weight loss AT ALL. If it did, you wouldn't need to cut your nutrition to dangerous levels to make them work.

I could sell straight sugar pills along with a 500 calorie diet, and you'd lose weight.

Even the "science" the idea was based on is junk. HCG is approved for one thing: treating infertility. If you're not dealing with infertility, any doctor who gives you these should be barred from practice, period. It's irresponsible, dangerous, and can kill you.

Even Dr. Oz has had to admit there's no science behind it, and the diet's dangerous. This is the same quack who'll promote every supplement and procedure out there if it'll make him a quick buck. If *Dr. Oz* says it's not worth it? Pay attention. He has the scam sensor of a 3 year old. From his website:

"No. Promoters of the hCG diet claim that when people are injected with hCG hormone they don’t feel hungry even though they’re not eating. The idea of using hCG injections to curb appetite was introduced over 50 years ago and has been carefully studied in over a dozen well-done trials. Every single well-done trial showed that the hCG injections were no better than injecting a salt-water placebo. In other words, people injected with hCG lost the same amount of weight as people injected with a salt-water placebo."

HCG does work,but it MUST have the hormone in it to be healthy...I didn't like the food choices that went along with it as I HATE veggies,but I know quite a few people it has worked for & they look amazing!

~~~ THIS IS IN RESPONSE TO THE POST FROM ---- LADEEJ---- from May of 2013
Respectfully, I have to disagree on one point you made. Being overweight or obese is NOT worse than anything else. Having an eating disorder where one is starving themselves of food, or even at a normal weight, but restricting to the point that they are malnourished, regardless of size is, indeed, far worse. While not everyone can be, many people can be "healthy" while overweight. Their lab work, cholesterol, blood pressure, glucose can all be within a normal healthy range. Our society often mistakes being THIN with being HEALTHY. I know plenty of thin, or even skinny people who are anything but healthy and fit. Many, many diets can lead to an eating disorder. Having anorexia, bulimia or EDNOS is far more unhealthy and dangerous than carrying around an extra 25, 50 or yes, even 100 pounds. I am not at all saying everyone who is on a restrictive diet will develop an eating disorder. In fact, MOST will not. But, experts in this field will tell you than genetics loads the gun, and environment pulls the trigger. For millions of people, a restrictive diet, like the HCG diet is what pulls the trigger. I am thrilled that you have had long lasting success with your time on the HCG diet. However, please do not assume that others who have not were just not mentally ready, as you suggested, or fully committed to the program. Statistics and research show that the majority of those who have lost weight on the HCG plan, are in fact, not able to maintain their loss for one or more years. I'd say from what you wrote, that you are one of the lucky ones - more the exception than the rule. I am happy for you in that regard. I hope that in the future you will refrain from making a statement like being overweight or obese is worse than anything else at all, when that is just not true. Best Wishes.
The HCG diet had really helped me a lot like I'd tried this from an official HCG store and got some beautiful results like I'd lost 51lbs in 60 days and once I got this my over weight never returned till now which I'm maintaining but yes I can't say about others as if it depends upon a particular person.
I did hcg over and over and lost 120 lbs. I became addicted to hcg. When I would go off for awhile I would gain weight and go back on. When I gave up hcg I became bulimic. I would eat something bad and say well I'm gonna gain weight and need a correction day so let's just eat everything today and get it over with. Then pig out and next day take laxatives, water pills, and no food . To get out what I ate. Visious cycle that caused me to gain 60 lbs back. I am happy that I am still down 60 lbs but not happy at the issues it caused or the weight gain. So if you try hcg please takes long breaks and be carefull. It does work but when weight comes off fast , it goes back on fast if not faster. Good luck.
sounds like a really extreme measure: so glad that you knew to take your blood pressure, If I were going through something like that I wouldn't even think about that nor would I have called 911, which makes me wonder if there is evidence of others who might not have survived this ordeal.
thanks for sharing this!!!
I have several friends and family that have done the HCG diet
NONE of them have stuck with it and NONE of them have kept the weight off. In fact they gained it all back and then some. A few have gained back two times the amount they lost.
I'll stick with Spark People thanks
I have a wellness center that incorporates HCG into some of our lifestyle programs. I'm sorry you had a bad experience. You are absolutely right-- regardless of whether or not you are on HCG, you lose weight because of the 500 calories and NOT because of the HCG. Any person who drops their calories below their basic metabolic rate will lose weight. The difference is that, when you are on HCG, your energy needs or caloric deficit is made up by the burning of fat storage. The 500 calories is to be 'maximized' or made up of nutrients to nourish your brain and body. The energy needs are to be supplied by fat. HCG is a catalyst to force your body to use fat storage instead of muscle or your precious nutrients for energy. Theoretically HCG aids in resetting a person's metabolic set point. Our clients are required to be seen weekly for measurements, food log evaluation, vital signs, evaluated for muscle/fat loss--per special equipment...complete a special journal/manual. It is a medically supervised program. All clients see a nurse throughout and if high risk, see the doctor. Each person fills out a medical, and psycho-social history. Many people struggle in the early days of the diet because they are addicted to carbs--this takes about 2-3 weeks for most people to get through their addictions. This will be harder for some than others. Consultation with the nurse and/or doctor, to get through these times, aids one to transition more smoothly--through adjustments in HCG, diet, vitamin therapy, adjustment in hormone levels... The real purpose of the HCG diet is to enable people to get the fat off at a relatively fast pace while learning portion control, learning about personal food sabotaging triggers... learning to make lifestyle changes... One should really enter a weight loss program with the intent of becoming healthy--without focusing too much on weight loss. People who make lifestyle changes are more likely to succeed at keeping the weight off. Whew! To think that's just a tiny portion of it all:-) In short, look for a 'real' medically supervised HCG program.
There is nothing "medical" about the HCG diet. It is all smoke and mirrors and $$$$$. If you eat 500 calories a day you will lose weight. Just plain stupid.
