I'm reading Deadly Medicine, Indians and Alcohol in Early America by Peter Mancall. I'm enjoying the book. It is information I wasn't all that familiar with.
It's on the known, but often overlooked, addiction alcohol many native Northern American Indians had and still have to today. The book writes about the early European pioneers observations of how alcohol often destroyed Indian communities and individual indians health.
Historically it is often noted that Indians died off due to European diseases. The book makes a good case that Native north American Indians greatest threat to health and well being was alcohol addiction.

Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Phil 2:3-4.
