My first 50 pound loss was a nice birthstone ring, the second 50 pounds was a birthstone bracelet. Next (goal) will be a new tattoo, signifying the transformation.

WELL... I set my rewards but I set a bunch like, Mani / pedi, new jeans, new swim suit, etc, and I usually will end up getting my reward before I hit my goal.. Soooo... from here on out I am celebrating more small victories and focusing on those. :)

I'll dig through this thread, but I'm curious - does anyone know of some good rewards that don't cost any money? We're broke, and spending is one of my problems along with eating. Seems backwards to reward myself with something monetary.

I recently hit the 50 pound mark (twice - hit it before Christmas, gained weight over the holiday, then lost it again) The only reward I got was that I was able to open my big box of smaller clothes, and all the size 16's and Large's fit! So I have a new (free!) wardrobe. It pays to keep your clothes for 3 years...

I guess that's all I need, but if/when I ever get to the 100 pound mark, then dammit I need a big reward! But I don't want to spend a lot of money on it. What should I do?

I'll probably hit it somewhere close to my birthday, if I keep going at the rate I've been going. So it could be a birthday present / weight loss reward all in one.

I am trying to buy incentive clothing. Every week I'm setting back $5. Then, if I find something cute on the rack and it's less than $5, I will get it. So far I have 3 items. All of which I couldn't refuse and they are contributing to my visual motivation as they are handing up in my room.

I just got on Microsoft Word and started making a little "Rewards List" to post around my house. The rewards are set into 10-pound increments because I get unmotivated very easily. The best reward I came up with was to buy a complete Zumba outfit when I reach my goal weight of 120lbs. The problem is...what do I do for the other goals? Buying new clothes wouldn't be a reward because A) I find awesome clothes at a local church and they're free and B) I'll need new clothes because of the weight loss. A Beauty Night doesn't work because I do that every Sunday due to low self-esteem. Food isn't a big deal because I know it's my previous eating habits that got me to the weight I am today. I don't go out to the movies because I don't have the money for it.

The question is, "What do you do for the girl who does everything?"

I rewarded myself when I started out with 25 loss increments. I honestly cannot recall my 25lb reward, but my 50 lb was a red Brighton purse that I had been dying for. It was pricey, and i would never let myself buy it, but when I started my WL process, I started putting $ away each month and set up my reward system in advance to get that purse.

My 75lb reward was a pair of killer stilettos ankle boots. I don't really reward myself anymore, just trying to get to the final goal. At that point, I will probably shop for the best jeans for me, price no issue up to a certain point.

Suggestions (keep in mind, these come from a girly girl): jewelry (I love Brighton, Lucky, Betsey Johnson.. sometimes), a purse, pair of shoes, belt, something that you've longingly looked at and wish you could have or wear. Go skydiving. Take a class.


Motivation will get you to the start line; discipline will get you to the finish.

Starting Weight: 264 (didn't get there overnight)
Current Weight 129.4 (didn't get here overnight)

My rewards are in my signature below. For every 5lbs lost I'd like to buy a little $5 something for myself, but I'm not opposed to pooling the money for some really awesome yarn or knitting needles. I have rewards set for every quarter of my overall goal (a pedicure at the first quarter and a highly self-indulgent 90 minute full-body massage for reaching half way). I haven't yet decided on my milestone rewards for the third quarter and meeting my goal, so I'm completely open to any suggestions you all might have (outside of clothing, perfume, vacations, accessories and exercise equipment).

While I noticed that some have said their rewarding system replaced the previous food rewarding they did that led to their weight problem, I think it's a little different for me. I rarely got anything impractical or self-indulgent for myself because it made me feel guilty for wasting money on nonessential things. Through some trick of mental semantics, the not so good foods I would splurged on wouldn't seem like selfish/impulsive rewards (which is what they really were), but merely eating as a necessity. I now see that that's a bunch of bologna and I really shouldn't be afraid to reward myself for a job well done...just not with food. Did anyone else have that experience?

I did rewards for major pounds lost...a nice birthstone ring for 50 pounds and a birthstone bracelet for 100. Goal (140) will be a new tattoo. New clothes as the old ones got to big. I am a Salvation Army shopper, so I always got a big bang for my buck.

I have a formula:
I reward myself for every 5 lbs lost AND every time I get into the next lowest 10-lb range, so when I went from the 160s to 150s. I keep the every 5-lb loses for healthy rewards, like a new pair of yoga pants or a new workout video. The 10-lb markers re complete SPOIL ME rewards!

Right now I am rewarding myself with a new outfit for every 20 lbs., but it takes so long to get a reward....I am trying to think of something to reward myself for the smaller successes.

Guess this is a left-over from when my kids were younger....I love to put colorful stickers on the calendar for the days when I reach my daily goals. For the bigger milestones (5 lbs., 10 lbs.) I sometimes reward myself by scheduling extra time for something I love to do (hiking, fishing) or starting a new craft project.
