Multi-tasking on the Elliptical. Walking, reading AND listening to music while the TV is on overhead. Gotta luv it! :)

Watching TV takes away from my total concentration on the treadmill, but it helps me get through the rough patches. Keep striving through it all. Have a wonderful day.

My elliptical at home is sitting next to a window and there is a TV & DVD player in front and up high. Or I can just veg out when I work out and see nothing and just breathe!

Great point - I seek distraction because I don't enjoy exercise and I might enjoy it more if I thought of it more as "me" time to meditate on my goals and overall fitness.

This picture brings up a good point: the less you think about or are AWARE of your body while walking and exercising, the more likely you are to hurt yourself. Usually, it is the folks who should not be walking and chewing gum, who try to multi-task. I think watching TV or reading or texting is fine--even chewing gum!, but you need to be AWARE of the messages your body is sending you. It is often these folks who trip over their own feet or hurt something and don't realize it until they get off the tread. AWARENESS of our body's -- where are various body parts are in space and how we are consciously moving -- is an overlooked aspect of fitness and walking.
