If I'm Tracking, I'm Losing
Oh my, what a tough fall it has been! I'm looking at my last blog, in August, when I started to stray from my most successful streak ever. I started that great streak with three goals: Exercise 10 minutes a day, track what I eat, and eat sittin... Read more
Worn out, took a break, back to it
Well, after recording that I was losing momentum in week 6, I was unable to stop a 2-day break from tracking my goals. I believed I was too tired.
Looking back today, I'm pleased that if I went over my 1500 calorie cap, it was not by much.... Read more
5 down, 5 to go
Today is the last day of 5 weeks running with under 1500 calories and at least 10 minutes cardio.
I picked up and had several 30 minute exercise days, and threw in a pedometer counting day, thanks to my nano, reaching 12,500 steps one day!... Read more
Speeding up Weight Loss, Adjusting my Goals
Well, this slowest loser did speed up. After four weeks of setting goals and sticking to them, I have lost about a pound a week, which quadruples my previous year's work of a measly 1 pound a month. Consistency needed a kick.
In addition, ... Read more
Are we victims of our good decisions?
A friend emailed me to say that she has been chatting on her daily train commute with a nice married man. He invited her to lunch this week. Stunned, she hemmed and hawed that she had work commitments that day.
Good job, friend, I wrote to... Read more
Could this Slowest Loser Speed Up?
I'm a huge fan of the official Slowest Loser on Spark People. His blog has made me smile at my own internal dialogues and given me some great, big out loud laughter along the way.
This month the Slowest Loser has an injury and seems tempte... Read more
It seems it has been a few weeks now that I have been wildly emotionally hungry. It's odd, because I've been getting other things in my life in order: house, adult children's changing lives, gardening for our anniversary party, getting closer to... Read more
What makes me hungry?
The broad description for my eating problems is emotional eating. This is not easily untangled. This week, I just wanted lots of food. Two bowls of Cherrios. A pastry. Ironically, I was pretty happy this week. So, what gives? I eat when I'm stre... Read more
Beans and Lentils
I do love beans, especially as salads. Just having a batch of seasoned legumes is part of my plan to always have a reason NOT to eat out.
As easy as it sounds, when I don't measure out my seasonings, the flavor is off.
Here's one tha... Read more
Weight Loss Truths I Know.
A month ago, I jotted in my paper journal some weight loss truths I know. Throughout this month of March 2011, I've tried to remember them in a positive way when making nutrition choices. I know they are different for each person, but maybe one ... Read more
In hard times, instead of eating (anything) to feel good, try eating well to feel good
I've learned quite a bit about my eating habits over the last year as my husband's legs have weakened from ALS and he falls or crumples to the ground. Each new round of weakness is typically signaled by a couple weeks of falls until we declare ... Read more
Sugar, Tamed Today
And so today, I had fewer snacks, and more fruits and veggies as planned. What surprises me is that today I skipped the sugar tilt-a-whirl. There were goodies to be had, If I think about it--the mini chocolate chips, merinque cookies, ... but I ... Read more
Love those 14WP Jeans!
My old Tallbot's 14 WP jeans have been hanging nicely to the far left in my closet--so I wouldn't accidently put them on instead of the (frequently tight)16WP to the far right. I wasn't ready to give up.
Today, I had a hunch the 14s might ... Read more
Now I'm thrilled with Spark People
OMG! I finally got a full day of food entered and clicked the nutrition feedback. It's so exciting! I learned I was low in protein and iron for the day, and well.. I know exactly how to fix that. Seeing the percentage of calories for each food f... Read more
Not a bad day
So, I stuck to my Mexican restaurant plan and still was full. 8 chips with salsa, followed by a simple spinach salad with bits of beef , and guac, and salsa. I could have been fine without the chips.
Ran out of energy and truly had to nap ... Read more
